Elias Kindle Edition
Why he looks at his horoscope every day, Elias Hood doesn’t know. It’s all garbage, and no nickel fortune ever helped him climb all the way up the corporate ladder. He’s about to make Vice President. Rocking the boat with “something new” is the last thing on his mind.
But there’s this guy.
Ty Green can make friends with a tree and Elias can’t help falling for his easy-going vibe and his perfect smile. He’s a fellow Capricorn, like Elias, but that’s as far as their similarities go. Ty works to live—he doesn’t live to work. When Elias takes his horoscope’s advice and asks Ty out, both men are in for a shock. But as Elias’s walls start to come down, they might just realize that they have more in common than they think. In fact, they might even want the exact same thing.
Who knows? Maybe horoscopes aren’t just trash after all.

About the author

Amy's lived with her head in the clouds since she first picked up a book as a child, and being fluent in two languages means she's read a lot of books! She first picked up a pen on a rainy day in fourth grade when her class had to stay inside for recess. Tales of treasure hunts with her classmates eventually morphed into love stories between men, and she's been writing ever since. She writes evenings and weekends—or whenever she isn't at her full-time day job saving the planet at Canada's largest environmental non-profit.
An unapologetic introvert, Amy reads too much and socializes too little, with no regrets. She loves connecting with readers. Join her Facebook Group to stay up-to-date on upcoming releases and for access to early teasers, find her on Instagram and Twitter, or sign up for her infrequent newsletter.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2020Format: KindleIf you’re looking for a feel-good read, with barely any angst, this is your book. Sometimes you just want to feel happy when reading, and it’s okay! I do, too. This book was like coming in from the cold to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while curling on a comfy seat in front of the fireplace, and a really good story to boot!
Elias had his life all planned out. He wanted to be as different as his birth parents as he could possibly be. His life was run by order, making money, having a dependable job, and being a dependable worker. He even had hopes that his work ethics were going to get him a promotion. That was his plan...until he read his horoscope, and it told him to be nice to others, to brighten someone’s day, and then to try something new. So he did all those things, and his course changed.
This is a story of love, but also of learning to be true to yourself and to have the guts to go after what you really want. The job Elias was in was not his passion. In fact, he hated it, but he had committed to it. His passion was photography, which he was doing as a hobby. Could he bring himself to go after his dreams? Maybe...I will let you find out for yourself when you read it.
This was a fun, easy read. I found myself smiling fairly often. To me, that’s a good sign. What I was reading evoked emotion, and that is something I look for when I read. I want to ‘feel’ the story. I loved Elias and Ty. While we did get to learn about Ty, this book was mostly Elias’ journey, and it is one worth reading.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA few days ago, I needed a book to read to pass the time during a longish train ride, and did not have much time to be picky so that I could ensure it downloaded before we went underground. I was interested enough by the premise and decided to take the plunge. Besides, it was on Kindle Unlimited so it wasn’t a hardship. And I’m not disappointed that I picked this one in that somewhat spur of the moment situation.
I really enjoyed Elias and Ty both individually and together. They were both complex personalities who brought out the best in the other. And, even though the romance happened pretty fast, I think it worked for them. And I enjoyed going along for the ride. There’s a conflict near the end that’s resolved relatively quickly. I appreciated that it was both a realistic problem and something that had built upon another instance in the romance (so it didn’t feel contrived).
The star signs were a fun sub plot and I enjoyed the variety in the supporting cast. Particularly Ty’s siblings. My only complaint is the length. I wish we had more time with them.
I was thoroughly entertained by the authors descriptions, and pleasantly surprised that one of our MC’s was a POC. That’s always a pleasant surprise for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2020Format: KindleI loved that this author proved you can write a beautiful, captivating love story without sidelining the plot or characters with unnecessary angst or drama along the way. The characters are interesting, and I loved both MCs. Together, they were fun and sexy. The relationship felt so realistic with falling in love, facing new challenges, and working through the rough spots. Elias and Ty are so different, but love makes it worthwhile. I loved watching them fall in love and going the extra mile to understand each other and make everything right. In the end, right or wrong doesn’t matter. As long as you love the other person, you can work it out.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseElias is a contemporary MM romance by Amy Aislin. Previously published with the title Picture Winter, the story is the same just with a pretty new cover and title.
This was a really sweet romance. Fast paced and a bit insta lovey but I thoroughly enjoyed it. While I am not a Capricorn I could relate to Elias' personality. He was very much not a people person and used his actions instead of his words to show he cared. Ty while having some of the same personality traits was different in a lot of ways. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was such a cinnamon roll you couldn't help but adore him. He was the perfect counterpart to break to Elias' walls. I loved their friendship and let's be real the sex scenes were fantastic .
I just love Amy Aislin's writing and the characters she creates. Elias is another great one and if you want a light low drama romance with a happy ending this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2020Format: KindleJust FYI, this book is a reprint of Picture Winter, which came out a few years ago. It’s being published under a new title, but the content hasn’t changed, so you can skip this if you’ve read the earlier version.
Elias is a sweet, low-angst love story. What little conflict there is revolves around the professions of the characters; each man thinks the other’s job is less than ideal for various reasons. Even when that part of the plot comes to a head, though, it’s quickly resolved. So, mostly it’s a story of a man who doesn’t let people in easily—that’s the title character, Elias—taking a chance on making a connection with the younger and more emotionally open Ty. Love then quickly follows.
Recommended if you're in the mood for a light, fast romance read, although I generally prefer something a little more substantial.
A copy of this book was supplied by the author for review; all opinions expressed are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2020Format: Kindle“I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.” I never read this book when it was published under a different name, but I am glad I had the opportunity now. I enjoyed how well Elias was written so you understood why and how his thought process worked. Ty is such an easygoing, nice guy. He has his own work plans and things all seem to be going well for both Ty and Elias, until Elias and his thought processes almost derail their whole happy ever after. I liked the dynamic in this book. The secondary characters really worked well to support the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay! Another great find on KINDLE!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt is such a treasure to find a story set in Toronto Canada, and also in Guelph, Ontario area. Amy writes such terrific stories, and her hockey trilogy rate amongst the very few best in the m/m genre. Thank you, Amy, for your talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unexpected delight
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI return to this story often - a really grounded opposites attract romance that has convincing (but not too much) conflict, both MCs are well rounded, and it's really satisfying

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice low angst read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAn enjoyable no angst, insta love read. I really liked the main characters, especially Ty. I loved how open he was, and totally unpretentious, basically just a really nice bloke. Elias wasn't as open, but it's obvious why, when you learn about his past.
The build-up of their relationship was done well, without the tired misunderstanding trope keeping them apart for an age. Its quite a charming, feel good story. I recommend it to those of you who want a light and sweet uncomplicated read to while away an afternoon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, easy read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was a sweet read that follows Elias and Ty as they navigate the start of their relationship together. Elias in particular learns to relax, open up and trust - something he found hard given his past history of being abandoned by everyone he loved.
I loved that they decided to follow their hearts when it came to what felt right for them rather than what others might think (moving too fast, etc). I also loved watching Ty bring out the best in Elias and encourage him to follow his passion and dreams, rather than staying in a job that he didn't like but felt offered better job security - again that need for stability and control almost causing him to miss the opportunity if a life time. Ty's family were a bit crazy at times, but I loved seeing the siblings all band together despite their age gaps, and bring Elias into that fold as well.
The book finished on a HFN - it's too soon to consider it a HEA, but it was set up so there are high hopes thing would continue to work for them.
This is a book I would recommend for an easy afternoon read - there is no major angst or drama, and its not an overly long read either.
