Publisher's summary

In a world that’s burning, where it’s every man for himself, all they can do to survive is hold on to each other....

A slow burn MMM romance set in a dystopian world. The first book in an exciting trilogy!

The world has changed. Tan has survived three years in a reintegration camp he was sent to for being gay, but he's at the limit of what he can endure, even with the help of his best friend, Austin.

When a massive meteor shower creates chaos at the camp, Austin and Tan take the chance to escape. They’re joined by Mack, a newbie at camp who is an expert in survival but knows nothing about love...or anything else.

But when they discover human-like aliens have landed on Earth with war on their agenda, their escape becomes a hell of a lot more dangerous. They grow close, but without power and food and no safe place to stay, how will they survive? Where can they find freedom...and love?

While the world around them burns, all they have are each other.

Ignite is the first book in the suspenseful Ignite trilogy, a slow burn MMM romance set in an alternative world. The first book ends in a cliffhanger, but the series will end with a HEA.

Not My Usual Type of Book but I Enjoyed It

I am not a big fan of dystopian romance with alien invaders, but I enjoyed this book very much. This first book in the series set a good foundation and world building for the story to continue. I liked all three main characters, each brings something special to their journey and I am very interested to find out more about each of their story. Narrator did a great job with all the characters and the story. I can't wait to listen to the next book in this trilogy.

Survival and Love

Austin, Tan, and Mack are three young men sentence to a “reintegration” camp that’s supposed to “cure” homosexuality. This camp is nothing more than a glorified prison where atrocious acts are committed upon the imprisoned young men. Then aliens suddenly attack the Earth and begin a mass genocide of the human race. During this chaos, Austin, Tan and Mack escape and what begins as an alliance in order to stay alive transforms into something more, something pure and loving. The young men must rely on their wits and each other to survive not only the aliens and other humans, but also the environment and shortage of food.

I normally don’t like dystopian books, but I adored Ignite. I think what makes it so enjoyable is how Nora Phoenix never allows us to give up hope. These young men are survivors and they will survive somehow. The relationship between all three of them is a complex and dynamic thing that takes it time to bloom, but it’s so satisfying to see. I can feel the love and trust they have for each other through the pages. Plus the plot just sucked me into the story and I didn’t want to stop reading. The world building was fantastic and complicated, but still easy to understand.

Kenneth Obi did the narration for the audiobook and it was wonderful. He had to voice three young men and give them each a unique voice. I think he got their personalities down wonderfully, and the narration became a performance. I was on the edge of my seat listening to this audiobook.

Both the book and the audiobook receive a solid 5 star rating from me. I can’t wait for the entire series to be out.

Great story

I really enjoyed this well written story. It's not my usual read but it's from both a favorite author and a favorite narrator so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm so glad I did.
I was drawn into the lives and the story of these guys. The journey they are undertaking together is immense and dangerous.
I really liked the way they were bought to life with the narration. He seemed to capture them well with his voice.
I look forward to the next one in the series and seeing how the guys manage the coming challenges.

Gorgeous!

I have read Nora's stuff before and her work has gotten so good! This is one of her best novels yet! I love dystopian fiction and she does a beautiful job with this...I cannot wait to read more in this series! Kenneth Obi does a masterful job narrating this novel!

Surprisingly engaging

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. I was thrown from the start but totally captivated. I like that each character has a unique perspective and voice. That they all bring something to the table. They’re all so naïve, and I’m thoroughly invested in where the story is going to go.

Awesome start

Ignite is book 1 in the Ignite series by Nora Phoenix and narrated by Kenneth Obi. This was my first dystopian book, so I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. However, I should have known that the combination of Nora Phoenix and Kenneth Obi would sell me on a new genre. This book has all of the things I have come to love from Nora Phoenix: great dialogue + real chemistry between the characters + great plot, plus MMM (my personal favorite and Mack, Tan and Austin are all equally yummy). Kenneth Obi just makes it that much sweeter. His ability to give each character a distinct voice and his recall ability of each of them, elevates the story and makes it feel like a production. I can’t wait to start book 2.

Worth a try

So I had this book in my wishlist for a few weeks and didn't think I would get to it. I enjoy reading m/m stories but haven't really enjoyed m/m/m books. Long story short I entered a chance to get this book from another author I love and won. So I decided to buy the audible and read and listen together.

The plot for the book is super imaginative which was a big positive for me. It really blended the possible and impossible together so well that by the end of the book you were like "yeah that makes sense". The characters were three really unique but also identifiable personalities and worked really well together which is why the m/m/m worked.

So while this is a slow slow burn, I can tell you that this book takes you on an adventure where three young men who have been brought together under undesirable circumstances find a way to forge a connection of love and unity as they battle the known and the unknown.

The narrator was great and I would definitely recommend listening to this book.

Good start to a new series

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was there anything I found annoying: no ... well maybe, the soft cliffhanger - but it's not like i wasn't warned!🤣
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Overall comment: • Story flowed at a good pace and has an interesting cast of characters. Austin, Tan and Mack each have their own painful pasts, but together with their combined strength they can take on anything.
• Kenneth Obi's narration really brings this book to life.

I look forward to the next in the series.

I love this new series. With their world on fire and under siege by aliens Tan, Austin ans Mach have to find a way to stay alive. This book had me on the edge of my seat. It ends in a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens to them.
Narrator Kenneth Obi does a wonderful job in bringing these characters to life.
