Unashamedly Us (Offbeat Shifters Book 4) Kindle Edition
Temporarily separated while he’s on tour, my love for him grows. He is my future—or he will be, once we’ve made our relationship public.
Charlie has been patient—probably too patient—while I’ve been struggling to get over my fear that history will repeat itself. An unforgiving media destroyed my career, I don’t want the same thing to happen to the man I love.
Telling the world is one of many obstacles we have to navigate. The only thing I’m sure of is that we’ll find our way together.
Unashamedly Us is the forth book in Offbeat Shifters, an m/m paranormal romance series with a continuing storyline. The series is best read in order, however Charlie and Austin’s story begins in book 3, Unapologetically Me. This book includes a monkey shifter who has to face his fears, an arctic fox shifter who will always stand up for himself, extended families, steadfast friends, lots of children, and a HEA ending for the main characters. There are pregnancy and birth scenes in this book.

About the author

Colette’s personal love story began at university, where she met her future husband. An evening of flirting, in the shadow of Lancaster castle, eventually led to a fairytale wedding. She’s enjoying her own ‘happy ever after’ in the north of England with her husband, two beautiful children and her writing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series, especially Austin and Charlie's story, which comes to a conclusion here.
Their path to HEA is clouded by their pasts and some very real issues that they need to overcome. From Austin's fear of holding Charlie back and of potentially damaging his growing relationship with his so Jesse, to Charlie's family and health issues, there is a serious tone, but the story never gets bogged down. They are secure in their love for each other, and it shines whenever they are together.
There are some very touching moments here, as well as some very hot ones as well. The development of both their characters, especially Austin who was so unlikeable in Secretly Mine, was done so well over the course of their story and added to the emotional depth of all the relationships involved.
Sad to see the series coming to a close, but with two secondary characters sharing a quick moment, I'm holding out hope for a spin-off or some more in this world.

I loved every moment of the continued story of Austin and Charlie. Two such flawed and damaged men coming together and making their dreams come true was amazing to read.
The characters in this world of shifters and Omegaverse is so well written and so well developed it feels real as you’re living it as you are reading it. You will get so invested in these characters that you will want to read the next book and the next book. Definitely need to read them in order so the universe makes sense. Other characters from previous books appear in this one as well. It’s very nice to catch up with the other characters and see what’s going on in their lives.
Reading about a character who had epilepsy and their internal angst was very difficult yet at the same time very compassionate to people who have epilepsy. The topic was tackled with understanding and also an educational slant.
Seeing these two characters grow together and solidify their relationship and find out if they get their happy ever after was an amazing ride.
I hate that this is the end of the series, but the author has hinted that they will write some stories from some of the minor characters in this universe. I definitely wanna know if Isaac‘s brother and Wulf get together we all see the sparks fly and feel like there’s a beginning there but don’t get the story just yet. I’ll be watching and waiting for it!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2021The finish of Charlie and Austin’s story.
Their story turned out to so sweet and heart warming. Though this was their story, the other characters in the series were prominently featured.
I was not fond of these two characters in the beginning. The author took two men who were not very likable and turned them into sympathetic, sweet men. Their relationship growth felt natural not contrived. The care Austin gave Charlie’s epilepsy was actually a big part of the romance of the story. The winter family gathering was excellent and showed all the characters in there best light. Loved the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2021This is the fabulous continuation of Austin and Charlie's love story. These men are just beautiful together. While their love for each other was established in book three, Unapologetically Me, there is so much growth for both Austin and Charlie in this installment. There is also family drama to deal with, since Charlie still has a hole in his heart over his estrangement from his family, particularly his alpha father.
The first book in this series introduced us to Austin, who came across as difficult and cold. He has become more likable in each book since then, and now there is no one who is more supportive and loving of his mate and his family. Austin has been working to let go of his fears, and he has come so far. Once he overcomes his doubts about publicly acknowledging his relationship with Charlie, Austin shines as a partner to the man he loves. At the same time, Charlie has to deal with fears of his own regarding building a bridge with his parents, as well as making decisions about possibly becoming a parent himself someday.
Both Charlie and Austin feel so real to me, and I adore them both. This book is full of so much love, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2021Okay, wow. Charlie is definitely my favorite character of the whole series now. I was already falling in love with him in the previous book. Him and Austin both take my breath away and this is a wonderful continuation of their story. I had only one question when I was through: Are there more books? I need there to be more books! All of the side characters and all of the kids need books! I’m not ready to say goodbye to this world I’ve been sucked into. It might be fictionalized and changed a little to fit into this particular shifter world, but these characters face some very real problems that are extremely relatable. Through all of the obstacles and hardships they’ve all been through they learned how to be strong and true to themselves and each other. Watching these characters grow together has been so incredibly beautiful. I will definitely be adding these to my very short “to re-read” list to experience it all over again!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2021I loved the first book about Austin and Charlie, and this book is a worthy continuation of their love story. These two are alternatively sweet and strong, needy and supportive, but their love is always steadfast and unbreakable.
After having read all four books of this series, I am a little bit sad to say goodbye to this well-developed world of all-male AO shifters, and I hope Colette might consider writing a short story (perhaps for Christmas or Valentine's Day) about the new couple who seemed to have experienced a telltale spark during the midwinter festival...

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously worth a read, must read all the series.
Happy / sad / mourning
What can I say, possibly the end of a great series? I loved the book, though I cried in parts. I'm sad the book and series have ended. The characters are well written. I want them as my friends/family. That's when you know it's been a good book when you feel like you have been a part of it.
Once again, Colette handles the epilepsy part of the story well and the changes in their lives. I love how she approaches the issues they come across, and it shows that there has been a lot of research on the subject.
Their little holiday, I won't spoil the story for you, but I need to go there.
Shifter, Alpha/Omega, illness, MPREG, family, love and a HEA.
This book has a lot more than you would think. A MUST read. Let's hope that it comes out on Audio in the not so distant future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Emotional & Fantastic 💞💞
Love... Loved... It... Fantastic series sad that its the last one but what an amazing journey that Colette Davison has taken us on first with Isaac & Jesse and now with Austin and Charlie these two together are exceptional, what with Charlie having to go on tour without Austin and telling everyone about there relationship and is epilepsy, reuniting with his family wanting to move on and planning their future together with wanting to have kids the love and emotion these two feel for each other is beautiful and hot but so sexy, it pulls you in and takes you along with them so great loved catching up with Isaac, Jesse & the twins so cute and adorable when they are shifting together it's captivating Recommend this series so much. 💞💞
