Moonstruck (Necessary Evils Book 3) Kindle Edition
Jericho Navarro is no psychopath, but he is a vicious killer. Like Atticus, he also has a secret life. To most, he’s just a mechanic. But to a ragtag group of social misfits, he’s Peter Pan, teaching them to eliminate those who prey on the weak with extreme prejudice.
When Atticus and Jericho come face to face over a shared enemy, their accidental meeting ends in an explosively hot hookup neither can forget. But they have nothing in common. Atticus is a buttoned-up closeted scientist and Jericho is a man on a mission, determined to find and punish those responsible for the death of his sister. Still, Jericho can’t stay away. And, truthfully, Atticus doesn’t want him to.
As Jericho’s mission begins to bleed into Atticus’s life, two separate but equally brutal families will need to learn how to fight together to take out a common enemy. But no amount of brute force can show Jericho how to scale the walls of a psychopath’s heart. Can Jericho convince Atticus that, sometimes, the couple who kills together stays together?
Moonstruck is a high heat, intense psychopath romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a fumbling, sexually confused maniac and the dominating, unapologetic gang leader who can’t stop tormenting him. As always, there’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, more killers than you can count, and enough explosive chemistry to level a city block. This is book three in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

About the author

Onley James lives in North Carolina with her daughter, her daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and a menagerie of animals, both good and evil. James splits her time between writing m/m romance and mainlining dangerous levels of caffeine and attempting to maintain her ever-slipping sanity.
When not at her desk you can find her whining about how much writing she has to do while avoiding said writing by binge-watching unhealthy amounts of television and doom scrolling on social media. She loves true crime documentaries, anti-heroes, and writing kinky, snarky books about morally gray men who fall in love with other men.

Atticus and Jericho - Love you both

- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024So far, Moonstruck has got to be my favorite of the NE series. It had the best mixture of spice and action. I loved getting a look into Atticus’ head and being able to better understand him as a person. The high maintenance princess who just wants to be loved underneath the prickly redhead was a nice surprise. I could relate to him a lot more.
Jericho was so fun and sexy. I loved getting to meet him and his boys and honestly can’t wait to jump into Jericho’s boys once I’m done with NE. He was such a good fit for Atticus and seeing their natural chemistry just sparking off the page gave me life. It seems like James had a way of just making each couple better than the one that came before. At first I didn’t think I’d like anyone as much as Adam and Noah, then August and Lucas were just too cute. Now Atticus and Jericho are reigning supreme. Will the next couple do the same? I can’t wait to see.
Also, one complaint I had in book one was the fade to black when the big showdown happened at the end. I loved that in books 2 and 3 we didn’t see that happening. Clearly James has become more comfortable writing the action necessary in books such as these. Since there is a guaranteed HEA, there’s not too much tension when the big climax hits, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want any action whatsoever. So I’ve been happy to get these scenes in their entirety for the last two books.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021I absolutely love this series!!! It is very important to read the books in order to understand the individual characters and world the stories are based upon. I fell for Atticus in this book, he is incredibly misunderstood and in my opinion not a true psychopath at all. He's starved for connection and love and desperately wants the approval and appreciation of his family. Jericho is a true force - he owns his own garage and "runs" his crew of LGBTQ teenage boys out of it. He has become the person that the neighborhood goes to when the police won't help. The start of this book is epic! The way Jericho and Atticus meet was fantastic and seriously Hot and also funny. To say they are explosive together is an understatement. This is a funny, quirky, and sexy book and I love this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021‘Moonstruck’ is my favorite book this year, and I’m flabbergasted that I can say that. I have avidly devoured several hundred books this year, many of which I adore. The first two books in the ‘Necessary Evils’ are spectacular reads.
Atticus and Jericho are both meant to kill the same person. Who knew bonding over murder could be such a turn on? They thought it would be a onetime thing. Except, both of them quickly realize once won’t be enough, and things between them aren’t casual.
I’ve struggled to find words that will do justice to this book, and since I can’t find my own words, I’m borrowing some from ‘Moonstruck.’
“It was like thinking you were pressing your tongue to a battery when it was actually an electric fence.”
There’s no better way to describe how I felt reading this book. I knew I’d love it—I love all Onley James’s books—but I could never have imagined how much I was going to love this one.
‘Moonstruck’ had all the things I expect out of a Necessary Evil book: snark, family feels, Murder Family antics, burning hot scenes of intimacy, and possessive MCs. Jericho and Atticus’s story is as full of violence and murder family shenanigans as any of her other stories. Yet, there’s something so deeply tender about Jericho and Atticus that their story left me aching for them for days. Murder is the love language of The Mulvaney Crew on a whole new level with these guys.
Atticus and Jericho can’t get enough of each other, and I can’t get enough of them. I’ve already read ‘Moonstruck’ twice. A third time is in my near future.
So here’s to Onley James. She’s left me with the most epic book hangover I’ve ever had!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021If you’ve started at Unhinged this review is likely completely unnecessary as you are 100% committed to this entire series — and are probably knitting a Mulvaney fanperson hat right now. If somehow you stumbled on this gem first, then what you need to know is this series is EVERYTHING.
What makes this series so amazing? Thank you for asking as I’ve spent an inappropriate amount of time between novels thinking about it. The beauty of this whole series is that it is about serial killers and YOU LOVE THEM. It isn’t about hunting the killers or avoiding the killers. No, no it’s about psychopaths who maybe fall in love, and at least obsession, and for sure lust. And you are so rooting for them. They’re mildly angsty and are more likely to make you laugh out loud than cringe.
Now, armed with this love and knowledge we approach Moonstruck. To be honest, I was least excited about Atticus (least is relative, it’s still one million percent excited). He just seemed so … ugh. AND THAT’S THE BEAUTY of Onley James’ writing. He was “ugh” because the other books were written from his brothers’ perspectives who viewed him as ugh. But when seen through the eyes of Jericho, holy guacamole, I’m here for him. And Jericho and his boys? Yes. Yes, please.
There’s nothing about this pair and their role reversals I didn’t love. Jericho is protective and loving and ruthless and everything Atticus needed. And Atticus…psychopathy on a spectrum. It makes total sense.
Okay, I’ve got to go re-read this and buy myself some Mulvaney merch since I don’t knit.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read
Book 3 of Necessary Evils was such a fun read. I loved the introduction of Jericho and his boys. He's a Thomas Mulvaney by different means, adopting the boys as his own and creating a family-like bond.
The brotherly banter between the boys, and the Mulvaney brothers is always a riot. It's my favourite parts of the books so far (besides the bad guys getting their karma) and learning something new about the human psyche.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ♥️🔥

5.0 out of 5 stars Atticus and Jericho 🖤
Another great addition to this amazing series!
When I thought I had my favorite Mulvaney another brother comes and takes the place.
Atticus is a big murderous teddy bear, he’s so cute I just can’t. He is so swoony and adorable .
Who would’ve thought that a psychopath trained to kill people didn’t like the killing part.
Jericho started his murder life when something happened to his mother and things evolved from there. It was so fascinating to see the two sides of the same coin. Jericho had a good childhood but then something traumatic happens and he stars getting revenge, for him and for other people but unlike our psychopaths he is just normal and killing doesn’t really affect him morally.
Atticus had a traumatic childhood and then got adopted by Thomas but he never really enjoyed killing people and find the screams really annoying.
He is a psychopath without many emotions, empathy and love being one of them. What I found fascinating is that despite all that he is a man who needs touching to feel comfort and has emotional needs although he is a psychopath.
Jericho and Atticus first encounter was really unexpected and awesome.
We start seeing that Jericho sees instantly what Atticus needs emotional and he just gives it. He’s also so dominant , I loved every second of it.
They complement each other so well, it’s awesome to see them together.
Jericho’s crew is something else, I hope we get a book for each of them.
Also the first encounter between Avi and Felix? I’m all over that, can’t wait for it.
5/5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet murder couple
Awwww. Atticus, my baby cactus, my baby hedgehog! All prickly but cute and needy! Jericho is the perfect little (or not so little) soft dom. They make such a sweet murder couple! A psycho and a vigilante who takes care of little baby gay vigilantes! I want more of Jericho's guys. They make me behave like a gushing mom...

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read...😍
I love moonstruck. I never thought I would love Atticus this much..in previous books I thought Atticus was rude and had a superiority complex but after reading his book my opinion about him completely changed. He is a different type of psychopath as Jericho says I also think he can feel too. And what should i say about Jericho. He is literally a man in shining Armor perfect for atticus. I love their chemistry. I love the couples whose love languages is cuddling and touching...😍😍
There is another reason why I love this book so much and that is the smut stuff. I mean don't get me wrong, previous books also have good smut stuff but I think in this book the intimacy level is too deep. All that vanilla sex and that not stop kissing...😍🤤
Excited for next book
