It definitely takes you on a mysterious, steaming, wild ride. I am 100% invested in needing to know the whys & what happens next?!! I have also found myself living vicariously through Madison, intrigued with hot, sexy & super rich Alex and the quirky, lovable sidekick Paco.     First time reading this author.. I had some doubts on how the beginning of this story would play out. It seemed a little weird how these two came together.. then the ending, ok there’s a secret. I did enjoy the read so far. So on to the next book to see if the mystery brings it all together. 🤓

    Brand new author for me, and I have to say I was surprised. Going in I hadn't even read the blurb. But from that opening chapter I was hooked.

    Scrambling to keep up with what I was reading, trying to piece it together. I'm left with more questions than anything. And that for me is the start of what I know is going to be an awesome adventure.

    When Maddison overhears a conversation it's like she's in the right place even though she is sitting in a bathroom listening in. Whatever this is it's her chance. A chance to further her life in this city they call New York. And she takes it running.

    When she interviews for the job at Drake Global it almost doesn't go to plan. She secures the job but this is here where I question why? It's like I'm Alice and have fallen down the rabbit hole. This place is just as mysterious as the man at it's helm. Alex Drake. Billionaire. Good looking. And full of secrets.

    His side kick and just as mysterious Paco is another character I'm intrigued with. Who is he???

    Gina scared me. I'd die if this woman was interviewing me for the job. She guards this place with an iron fist. And nothing gets past her.

    What she couldn't possibly have expected was to meet the man who seems to know everything about her. And I'm not talking trivial stuff. He knows intimate details of her life, her past. And that there is the million dollar question. How?

    When Alex Drake sees Maddison he is drawn to her. She seems familiar. The attraction is instant. This man has me wondering just who he is. Is he connected to her brother Jack? I'm in serious need of answers here. But I'm not getting them at least not in the first book.

    His seduction of Maddison is truly stunningly sexy. The heat smoulders and the attraction between our two leads is explosive. The chemistry is a given. But theres something more happening here. I just need to piece it together.

    I could not put down. This story will capture you, make you question what the hell is going on.

    The book starts off with the h overhearing a woman saying she just
    got fired from her job for stealing. A week later the h gets a job
    interview for that position. The h avoids confrontation, is
    quiet/mousy. She blames it on being raised by her gunnery
    sergeant dad.

    Needless to say, the interview was interesting, but she got the job.

    A month in her new job: "Fast-paced and exciting, Madison’s job
    challenged her in ways she’d never imagined work could. She was
    originally hired as a management intern, but her intuitive skills in
    analysis and trending surprised even her. Within two weeks, she’d
    been reassigned as an executive analyst."

    The main characters were interesting. The H suffers from panic
    attacks but wants to keep his "weakness" hidden. He suffers in
    silence. The h talks about losing her brother.

    This was a really short book that ends in a cliffhanger and with the
    H keeping a secret from the h. We don't find out what it is but
    there were some hints about what it could possibly be. I'm not
    continuing on with the story and had I'd known it ended in a
    cliffhanger then I wouldn't have read it.

    Story was extremely interesting, then you really get into the story it's self. I still have no idea what Mr. Frames company does, interesting isn't it? Young woman applies for a job at The Drake Company, she gets a interview with the HR. But before she can get to the appointment, Alex Drake runs into her and spills coffee all over her blouse. Has to go to interview with just a suit jacket and her skirt to cover herself up. The interviewer wasn't happy. With nothing to lose she told the woman off, the HR person talked down to her, so she figured she had nothing to lose. That's when Alex to his HR to hire her, so they did. She became a outstanding employee for the company. Alex decided he was going to get the Miss Taylor to go out with him.... He met her and they became involved. He knew right away she was the one. Weird things stared to happen to Miss Taylor????? This book was exciting to read and its a first book in the series... I have no idea what is going to happen next with this story. I'll be reading the next book to find out whatever happens with the mystery weird things going on. Can't wait!!!! Enjoy Delicious story with awesome plot!

    This is a quick read, packed with humor, steamy scenes, and intrigue. I really liked Madison, her strong work ethics, her quick wit, her fearlessness, and the respect she showed homeless veterans. The jury is still out on Alex. There wasn't enough information revealed about Alex to make me feel vested in him, especially with the way he flaunted his wealth. The way he treated the homeless vet following Madison's intervention does suggest he has some redeeming qualities. Paco was hilarious. So, why did I give it 4 stars? I would have liked to see less narrative and more dialogue. Also there were several loose ends and no discernable story arc. I will say there was enough mystery surrounding why Alex was searching for Madison and why she doesn't recall meeting him before now to coax me into purchasing the next book. I suspect the answer lies with Madison's brother, and I'm curious to see if my theory is right. I also liked Madison and Paco enough to want to spend more time with them. Overall, I think this was a fun read.

    Lexxi James has managed to win my heart by storm with this book. Her style of writing is as sweet and delicate as a butterfly's wing fluttering over your skin, as profound and deep as a crystal-clear still pool high up in ancient volcanic mountains and yet so poignant and soul-stirring, I felt my pulse accelerate, depending on the subject matter at hand, not only in my chest.

    The two main characters are wonderfully mapped out. It is as if you were inside their heads and hearts, making each thought, each stirring emotion your own. The tenderness of sweet affection and care, paired with an alpha attitude the formidable billionaire shows towards the woman he's fast falling in love with seems at odds but yet, strangely works so perfectly well. Madison, usually much more reserved, feels so at ease with Alex as she never has with anyone before. And from personal experience I know that this is not a pink-shaded fictitious notion but something that can really happen and will astound you in no small measure at your own atypical reactions. The characters that also appear as supporting roles, like Gina, Fife, Joe and Paco all have very specific characteristics that make them unique in a fun and, in case of the latter, also very mysterious way, spice the whole thing up and add to the rich, colourful layers of a narration that is as entertaining, heartwarming and exciting as it is intriguing. I'm dying to read the second book now in the Alex Drake series. But maybe I should sleep first, as it is morning and I've not slept a wink as I just couldn't put this page-turner of a book down! What a work of art! An absolute MUST READ!

    This was a quick enjoyable read. The story was good and the characters were good.

    I liked Madison. She’s a very down to earth character with her bad luck and thoughts at the beginning of the book. You can’t blame her for falling into Alex’s lure when he made it so hard not to.

    I liked Alex. He’s great and so very sweet. I am wondering what his secret is though. You can guess that it has something to do with a promise and probably related to her brother. He made it impossible for Madison to deny him, being incredibly thoughtful and spoiling her. He does sweep in and change things for her very quickly though, but hey, he does also seem like a good catch. I don’t blame Madison for giving him the 30 days and going along with it.

    My only comment would be that I prefer book written in first-person POV. I think it would have elevated the characters and given you a stronger connection to them. That’s a personal preference though.

    The story was still good and the characters were great. It was a enjoyable quick read and I am looking forward to reading the next book. I would definitely recommend it.
