Falling for My Enemy: A Hot Romantic Comedy (Dirty Martini Running Club Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 11,000 ratings

What happens when frenemies take the experiment out of the lab and into the bedroom?

Corban Nash is a self-proclaimed data nerd with a sexy half smile and a set of abs that leave girls drooling. He developed a theory he claims will make two people fall in love. And after numerous tests on friends and family, it’s been successful for everyone who’s tried it. The problem is, it’s never worked on him. And he doesn’t know why.

Still, he’s determined to prove his theory. The only thing standing in his way? Hazel Kiegen.

Hazel refuses to be distracted by Corban’s adorable awkwardness or his temptingly muscular body. He claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and she’s going to prove him wrong.

From the moment these two rivals meet, their chemistry is irresistible. And what’s wrong with a little sex between enemies? But when they put Corban’s theory to the test for themselves, the results are deliciously unexpected.

Author’s note: STAND-ALONE romcom featuring a sexy nerd with a great big... heart. Tons of tension and witty banter. Super hot frenemies with benefits. Badass lady friendships with a widening circle of trust. And a romantic HEA that will leave you swooning. Falling for My Enemy was previously titled Love According to Science.

Hazel and Colton are both scientists. She studies non-verbal communication as it relates to love, and he's developed a questionnaire guaranteed to build intimacy. He has numerous wedding invitations that prove it works, but what he doesn’t have is the empirical data to back it up, and Hazel has been challenging Colton about it online for months. Then things take an ironic turn when Colton is offered a job at the university where Hazel works. And his office is next door to hers.

Hazel and Colton are enemies of the finest caliber, but unfortunately, they both have a powerful case of hate-lust. When they’re in each other's company, it's like a live wire arcing between them, threatening to torch anyone in the vicinity as things between them zip, zap and spark. In spite of the chemistry, neither one has much social acuity when it comes to dating. They're so delightfully, comically awkward with each other that I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face. Hazel and Colton are my choice for winners as Most Adorable Romcom Couple Ever!

I love it when the writing is clever, witty and snappy, and this book has it in spades! Kingsley had me busting out in laughter while giving my heart the very best kind of emotional workout. Then there's Hazel and her girl tribe. They support and encourage each other and the conversations between Hazel and her gal pals are side-splittingly funny. And their snarky exchanges with the mean girls? Comedic writing gold and absolutely priceless!

If you haven't read Kingsley’s work yet, change that now. With quirky, larger-than-life and eternally endearing main characters, loveable and memorable secondary characters, crackerjack wit, and hit after hit to the heart, this book is a definite must read. You’ll cling to these characters long after the last page and be ready to dive right back in for a second read as soon as you’ve finished the epilogue.

Fun read with adorkable characters and a great funny friend group. Well written and with well-rounded and relatable characters. No overly complicated stupid drama. More light hearted with some 18+ spice. Definitely going to read book 3, but I feel like the series could still be read as standalone books.

I read these books out of order and I’m really happy that I did. This was the third book I ready (I read Sophie first, then Everly, now Hazel). I had been introduced to Hazel in the other books but didn’t quite have a grasp for her and had seen the way Corbin interacted with the characters, so it was wonderful to finally read their story.

They were unique characters with their nerdiness and I would say inclusion of being on the spectrum. They weren’t diagnosed-per se, but it was clear as you got to know the characters. I loved the penguin but, so heartwarming and sweet. Their banter, especially when enemies was excellent. And that copy room scene may have been the best from the series so far.

I happened to find Claire Kingsley oh Kindle Unlimited and am so glad I did! These books are definitely escapism at its best and just what I need to unwind after a long day. You truly get immersed in the world and characters. Can’t wait for Nora’s book.

I've read a lot of Claire's books, and although. I enjoyed this one, it was somewhat different...

I liked Hazel. She was quirky and true to herself. Corban was not the usual alpha-male character I'm used to, but he was likeable as well. I had some minor issues - see below:

I found that a lot of characteristics usually assigned to the FMC was assigned to the MMC in this story, and I'm still not sure how I feel about that. The insecurities, biting his bottom lip, being quirky, not going after what he wants, that was Corban. My favorite book heroes know what they want and they go after it, and if that is the kind of hero you like, this book might be a bit of a letdown for you.

The relationship developed very slowly - the main leads were still not "together" at the 84% mark, and the story felt like it was dragging. A lot of words / pages provided too much information on the peripherals (the race, the drinking, work etc.) and this detracted from the relationship (and getting it where it needs to be).

The intent might have been different, but I felt that too much emphasis was placed on Dorgan as research / experiment leading to two people falling in love with each other. It made me question whether their feelings for each other were genuine. Corban, especially, seemed to be fixated on his own theory not working on him, even when he completed the questionnaire with the woman who was supposed to be the love of his life.

The other thing that was missing for me was the lack of spice. Yes, there were two or three scenes, but these were almost over before it started (that's how quick it was) and lacked the usual finesse that Claire writes such scenes with.

Another great read by Claire Kingsley. Hilariously funny, heart warming and inspiring. Loved catching back up with this group of friends after reading the first book, Faking Miss Right. Not to mention the crossover with other books like Book Boyfriends.

    Well written and good editing.
A fun rom com. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

    Hot. Hotter. Corban Nash.
    OH MY GOODNESS!
    An absolutely handsome data nerd?
    Charming and sexy as hell?
    OMG YES PLEASE!
So where's my personal Corban Nash?? 😍🤔

Don't know what I'm talking about? Sorry!
This should be a professional review. Somehow...

So... I read Falling For My Enemy (#2 of the Dirty Martini Running Club Series) by Claire Kingsley and I'm SO IN LOVE NOW and FOREVER! ❤️

Hazel Kiegen has one huge nemesis called Corban Nash. He claims to know how to make people fall in love but for Hazel this theory is highly doubtable! When both find out they've to work together - hell breaks loose! Oh my. But doesn't hate could turn into something different?

When I read the first book of the Dirty Martini Running Club (the story of Everly and Shepherd) I totally fell in love with this awesome group of girlfriends and I don't know what took me so long to go back to them! Honestly, what was wrong with me?!
These women are HILARIOUS and so inspiring!
This book is the love story of Hazel and Corban.
Hazel is this absolutely intelligent woman and Corban, the cute data nerd, fit perfectly together... although both can't see it at first!
They hate each other soooo much! And I never knew that hate could be soooo hot!
THEIR CHEMISTRY IS BRILLIANT! PALPABLE! I definitely felt their attraction through my kindle! It definitely caught fire more than once! 🔥😆 HOLY...
I devoured their story! I enjoyed every moment of it and couldn't stop myself from falling in love with them more and more!
Awwwww! How is it even possible to be soooo cute and charming, but also SEXY at the same time?? Well, Corban Nash is all that!
    Perfect book boyfriend! 😍😍😍😍

I totally enjoyed this great combination of hate-lust, humour, romance, drama, friendship and lots of other things!!!

And you know what I loved so much as well?
I'm curious now to read Sophie's story and Nora's and I'm hoping for Jensen's story too!
    Nora's hot half-brother needs a book! 🔥❤️😍

Thank you, thank you, thank you Claire Kingsley! I really need to read all your books ASAP!!!

Corban and Hazel are enemies. She hated his love theory and he hates that she won't stop critizing it before she even sees what he sees. What's worse is they have to work together in person now. It's a game of war and something more....

I really enjoyed this book. Two strong characters with brilliant minds who still have flaws and fears. They appear to have their stuff together but as you get to know them they have room to grow and really get it together.

I haven't read Everly's story so I need to do that, but I also cannot wait to see Sophie and Nora's story. Also Jensen... He's seems like an interesting male that could be someone's prince charming.
