    Aria is a street fighter MMA style. She has been on her own for the most part, after losing her parents. She came into her magic unexpectedly while fighting for her life with a bunch of thugs.
    Merrick is a business prodigy and an ex of Aria. He is very bitter about their breakup.
    Lachlan is an Irish biker. Came into magic much like Aria, during a fight.
    Trace is a rock star that came into his powers unexpectedly.
    The issue is we are supposed to fill in too many blanks. There is chemistry between characters, but we are told there is, not shown there is, with the exception of a scene per male lead. They didn't ask for forgiveness for making her life hell for a month before hand, nor did they act contrite. We are lead to believe there is a bigger issue with the challenge, but no evidence of that except dead students and a couple snippets of conversation. The winner should get to meet the gods but she is going to join again and risk death next semester to figure it out??? Why? It really is good, but just huge chunks missing. I don't mind connecting dots, but don't like it when I have to make huge leaps with little payoff. I'm hoping the next book brings real answers. This is a complete trilogy, so moving on to book two. The fights were fantastic. The world is interesting. Overall I really enjoyed, just frustrated. It's a slow burn except with Merrick, who is an ex with previous history. Story told from Arias POV. This is a trilogy that will need to be read in order. I may lower resting if book two doesn't produce answers or at least better bread crumbs to follow.

    What a fantastic story. I loved Aria, Lachlan, Trace, and Merrick. They have fantastic personalities that are felt throughout the story. I loved how strong Aria is. She is such a kick butt lady that you definitely root for throughout the story. The the very beginning you see how great she is. As for the guys I had to warm up to a bit but as the story progresses you grow to love them. This story is extremely well written and developed. It full of action, drama, suspense, with a bit of mystery in the background. It is most definitely a must read and doesn’t disappoint.

    3.5 Stars. Look this book should have been everything that I was looking for. Hot boys? Good chemistry? Check. Interesting magic? I'm so into the idea of gods bestowing magic on worthy mortals. But the author left out small important details though out the book that ultimately made me ask why? **MILD SPOLIERS** Why do I care about the heroine's ex when he has been an ass and no time was spent on their emotional connection? In fact each romantic interest gets one short chemistry filled talking scene. Why is she improving in her studies? Why is her magic more powerful than some? And why is the only thing moving the plot along is the heroines bad feelings (and some vaguely confirming overheard conversations)? More little scenes would have really connected me to the plot and characters; once the author had written one kind of moment every other part similar it was skipped over. One full class period. Only one monster battle despite facing them daily for weeks. **END OF SPOILERS**
    I do feel that it was fairly well written and edited. The steamy parts were good. If you just want a mindless couple of hours I say go for it but don't expect to find your next favorite series here. I won't be reading the next book but I might try something else the author writes in the future.

    First off, the bullying from the harem members (to the MC) was lighter than other bully books I have read so if you are worried about that, don't be (I feel like it was more enemies to lovers for the first 1/3 of the book and then everything was good haha). Then on to the academy aspect of the book, I would say that it was higher in book 1 than it was in 2 or 3 (which makes sense with the storyline). I did like the academy part, it wasn't too much or wasn't stagnant like I think other academy series can get. In terms of the story I will say the concept wasn't earth-shattering/new, but I thought Eva did a good job of getting the readers invested and love the world she created. I thought the challenge sounded insane and I really enjoyed the story in book 1 was highlighted more than the relationships/romance. It definitely held my attention, I needed to know what happened next (and the scene with Lach was yummy hahah). For the relationships, I liked how the guys are different, with their own quirks and advantages they bring to the table. I think Lach was my favorite in book 1. I liked the MC, but at some points she was a little too garish/much for me. I did still enjoy this book and went on to listen to books 2 and 3 right afterward 😊

    The narration I thought was done well. I wish there could have been a male narrator but Stacy did a good job with the different accents, especially Lachlan's accent. I think sometimes she was a little overdone, but that kinda went with the MC's personality I guess haha (for some reason I didnt like her inflections/accent for the MC's friend). I think there should have been more Boston accents if the MC was there for a good portion of her life, but not a lot of people could do a Boston accent that wouldn't get on someone's nerves after awhile haha. Overall, I would listen to Stacey again, that's for sure!
