A Breathtaking MM Urban Fantasy

A war is brewing. Can they stop it? Or will they die trying?

Wade is finally aware of who he is.
Even if that comes with its own set of problems. And after a deadly attack, the secrets of the past are threatening to disrupt everything.

Caleb feels powerless.
After the events at the Tower Bridge his whole world is shaken up to its core. And he can do nothing to stop the inevitable.

When the vampires go on a murder spree and the supernatural world turns its back on witches, the weight of it all befalls on Wade and Caleb.

But are they strong enough to face what’s coming? Can they stop the war before the sides are drawn? And when the time comes, will they have what it takes to face the greatest threat of all? Losing each other?

Vampire Heart is an MM urban fantasy with lots of magic, powerful emotions, a passionate blooming romance and a touch of kink.
This is Book 3 in the Blade & Dust series with no cliffhanger and a happy for now ending. Although it can be read as a standalone, it is better enjoyed as part of the series.

Another explosive continuation, yet more mystery remains for our beloved Wade and Caleb. Their continuous fight to survive while trying to save the world from its inevitable doom kept me on edge. This has been such an enjoyable storyline, keeping me engaged and coming back for more.

John York does another impeccable job of giving life to not only Wade and Caleb but to all characters involved. The distinct difference between the characters amazes me, especially their magnitudes. I can not wait to find out what's to come!

A new threat is in town, one who murder witches. The nightcrawlers decide to stop working with the witches leaving them alone and vulnerable.
After the revelation of Wade true natures, meaning a witch, Caleb tries to help him with his powers, but things are more difficult that what they thought, and with danger and death all around them, they need to find a way to stay alive at the end.
That’s it, the last adventure of Caleb and Wade is here.
After everything they’ve been through, they must fight against their worst enemy and their worst fears if they want to have their happily forever.
I adored this last book in this series, it was, sweet and beautiful with a lot of pack actions and fun. Caleb and Wade deserve to be happy forever, I completely adore them from the beginning.
I was a little bit sad to say goodbye, but It was a beautiful final book.
I look forward to reading about them in one way or another!

I’m still thoroughly enjoying this series. This book picks up where the last left off, with Wade struggling with his new powers, and Caleb trying to deal with the new counsel in the face of everything the old counsel did in the previous books. There’s action from almost the very first page, and Caleb and Wade are, of course, right in the center of it. With new enemies and old, they’re constantly fighting for not only their lives, but the lives of all supernatural beings. Through it all, you can definitely feel the love these two have for each other and while this was still just a HFN, I can’t wait for the day they get their HEA.

Does it have to end?

Book Three ~ Whew! What a rush! I wasn’t sure what more the author could throw at us, but bringing back that dhampir? Having the Nightcrawlers cut off all help and protection for the witches was masterful. Was it necessary? Yes. Caleb knew things needed to change, but how many others did or would listen until something HUGE happened? Nolan basically said no more, we don’t have a voice at the table, well then we don’t have a stake at all anymore. There are so many riveting plot points in each book. I am so enthralled by this series!! I can’t wait to start the final book. This is so exciting.

New Battle & More Secrets Revealed

This has been an exciting series. This story includes a new battle but also reveals a secret to Wade and his brother. It's all worth reading and the audiobook book adds to the excitement with great narration from John York.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

"Vampire Heart" is the third installment of the series, with which I'm more and more crazy in love with each volume, that is "Blade & Dust" by Rhys Lawless. I admit that reading this series, I'm constantly delighted with the story presented by the author, but this time we get something even better than before. No wonder that reading this part we are completely engrossed in it and we follow the events presented here with bated breath. Believe me, it's impossible to put this book down, because it absorbs us to such an extent that when we enter this world we can't go back to ours until we read it to the very last sentence.

It is also worth mentioning that the story presented in this volume largely unfolds from two different angles, which distinguishes it from the previous two parts. What I have in mind is the fact that our main characters split up at some point and although they are working on the same case, they approach it from two different sides. In fact, it is all the more interesting because their split affects the reader's emotions even stronger when reading, and thus, we are more concerned about the events of this novel, and we are even more worried about our favorite characters.

In "Vampire Heart," I also really liked how the author showed the reaction of the paranormal community to the attacks against witches. To be honest, Rhys Lawless didn't use the most popular plot development in this situation, the example of which we could see in the previous volume. That's why the fact that in this installment everything takes a completely different course than normal is even more noteworthy.

As for the characters, so far they have been amazing, but now they are even more wonderful. The author creates them in such a way that with each page we love them more and more, even though before we started reading this volume we were sure that it was impossible. What's more, there are also some new characters in the novel that also make us their great fans.

To sum up, "Vampire Heart" is a great, highly addictive and engrossing novel, that you must read as soon as possible. It's simply amazing!

Albowiem nasi główni bohaterowie w pewnym momencie rozdzielają się i chociaż pracują nad tą samą sprawą, to jednak podchodzą do niej z dwóch różnych stron.

Podsumowując, „Vampire Heart” to powieść wspaniała, silnie uzależniająca, zniewalająca. Ją po prostu trzeba przeczytać!

description

Vampire Heart takes off after the dreadful events at Tower Bridge in Demon Heart. The witches enlisted the help of the shifters to take down the dark council members and the demons they raised, leaving the shifters angry at the witch community for the losses they suffered on their end and the severe lack of compensation from the witches for their assistance. This leaves the supernatural community unbalanced and the witches unprotected when the vampires decide to go on a murder spree with witches as their main target.

Wade and Winston are aware they’re witches now, and Winston takes this new knowledge in stride as he masters his newfound abilities but Wade can’t seem to cast a single spell to save his life. Will Wade be able to take control of his magic? And how will the brothers deal with the guilt of murdering their own kind when they worked as witch hunters?

Main Characters:

Wade Rawthorne - Former Witch Hunter. Witch.
Caleb Carlyle - Witch.

Setting:
London, United Kingdom

Likes:

+ One of my favorite things about this series is how many strong side characters there are. I would even hesitate to call them side characters because they're so well developed and the reader feels such a strong connection to them throughout the Blade & Dust series. To put it simply, these are characters that aren’t ½ of the main couple and that we don’t get to hear from their POV. However, Rhys Lawless wrote a short story focusing on the side characters Easton and Troy: Foxy Heart and I have my fingers crossed that we’ll get a book focusing more on Hew and Winston’s story.

+ Winston deals with his guilt about being a Witch Hunter by taking action to attempt to protect witches. He took it upon himself to protect, train, educate and re-purpose what remains of the witch hunters and use them to do some good for the witch and night-crawler community, teaching them to protect and fight alongside witches instead of hunting them down and killing them. This new focus of Winston's develops him so much as a character and we get to see a new side of him as he fights to protect both the former-Blades and the witch/night-crawler community.

+ One of my complaints in my review of Demon Heart was the lack of action from the witches after the events at Tower Bridge to show the shifter community that they appreciated their assistance and sacrifices in the fight. I’m glad that this lack of gratitude from the witches didn’t go unnoticed and forgotten. The witches did end up paying for their lack of action to thank the shifter community by the shifters turning their backs on them and refusing to do their dirty work any longer. I appreciate that Rhys Lawless followed this through in Vampire Heart instead of letting the witches get away with using the shifters and not showing the least bit of gratitude.

“Witches have been ruling the Nightcrawlers for far too long. And we let them. That is no more. The high council betrayed everyone’s trust and it cost the lives of hundreds of Nightcrawlers. Any protection and any help we used to give is now over. Effective immediately. We no longer take orders from witches.”

Overall:

I enjoyed returning to the world of Blade & Dust in Vampire Heart and getting to see the characters be forced to face reality and solve ongoing problems. Rhys Lawless doesn't seem to give his characters a break, constantly keeping them involved in the action and providing them with never ending problems for them to solve. While I feel terrible for the characters who can't seem to catch a break, this definitely keeps things interesting for the readers.

From accepting their new identity as witches, to hunting down their long lost father, and saving all of witch-kind from yet another threat to take them out, the Rawthorne brothers are kept on their toes throughout this series. And Caleb isn't any better off than them. I'm thinking our boys need a vacation so they can spend some much needed time with their mates before they're forced to face more issues that I know are bound to arrive in the next book of the series.

This is not a standalone, best if read after the previous two books of the Blade & Dust series.

One thing I've got to say, Rhys Lawless has been particularly mean to his protagonists, Wade and Caleb. Between the events of Demon Heart and Vampire Heart, the poor guys weren't offered that many opportunities to "release some tension" (if you get what I mean, lol). Scarcely some one on one time, because they're always in the middle of some kind of end of the world situation they have to take care of. They didn't even get to really enjoy their mate bond...mean,mean author!

Seriously now, they certainly don't have it easy. Not only Wade can't cast a spell to save his a**...sorry,I meant life... but, to make matter worse, vampires are on a witch hunting spree. And they also convinced all the other supernatural beings to not offer any kind of assistance. Someone is behind the attacks, and of course it's Wade and Caleb who have to discover who that is. Hopefully take them down, too, if our heroes survive the investigation.

It was exciting to watch them fight and to see them survive danger stronger than before. The most amazing thing about not only this book, but all the series, is that, for Caleb and Wade, it's never ONLY about them. They could have thought about just their wellbeing so many times, instead they chose to risk their lives, if it meant the survival of their community. I appreciated their sense of responsibility and selflessness, and often their recklessness while confronting hazardous situations.

They proved these qualities again in Vampire Heart. They faced everything thrown their way, despite being afraid and doubting their abilities to face their enemies. It's been a surprise after the other, and I've held my breath all through the book, because the plot was fast moving and thrilling. I never knew what to expect or what would happen next, worried  that Wade, Caleb and their friends might get hurt or ever not make it at all. It definitely kept me on pins and needles, and I loved it.

Unity

Well, well, well, what a surprising beginning Rhys Lawless gives us. Evil threatens the fragile peace and the more we learn, the less we know. Everything is in flux and I wonder what the future holds, but we can always count on Caleb and Wade. I am floored how they will do anything, and I mean anything for each other. The bond they have is flat-out amazing. “He was my everything, and I was the luckiest man alive to have him.” They make me so happy and I’ve loved seeing their relationship deepen and grow through this series. No to mention, they burn up the pages with their intense connection.

I must admit that parts of this book made my heart hurt but I adore the love, friendships and found family that feature throughout it. The characters make me laugh, cry and all around feel. I especially enjoy the snark on Caleb and Wade. They entertain me from cover to cover and I never want to say goodbye but the ending gave me happy, happy sighs. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this world. Spellbinding twists and turns, fierce battles, dangerous games, and unbreakable love are all present in this fantastic series you have to experience for yourself.

This is the third book in the Blade and Dust series and the books should be read in order b/c the characters and action are best understood as a continuing saga. All I have to say about this latest installment is Wow, the author really brought the suspense and action up a notch this time. Wade and Caleb are still together, but unfortunately never really have time to enjoy the whole “mated” thing, although they do manage to squeeze in a few sexy times 🔥🥰, b/c the big evil villain has found a new way to come back from his supposed death and make their lives topsy turvy again. But, with some old friends and new allies they come up with a plan that will hopefully finish him off for good. Does it work? You will just have to read and find out, but I will say that Wade and Caleb get a sweetly satisfying HFN ending and the witches council seem to be headed in the right direction. However, in the paranormal world with so many different personalities how long can their stability and happiness last? I can’t wait to see what the author cooks up next for our MC’s and their friends/family in the Blade and Dust world❤️.

This is a great addition to the series! There is plenty of emotion and turmoil as witches are threatened, the familiars back away, and the vampires attack. Caleb and Wade have to figure out what’s going on and find a way to overcome the evil. Expect some rough times and unexpected surprises as the guys struggle through, but also some sass, snark, and sexy times. These two characters love each other through and through and I couldn’t help but root for them and their friends to succeed. This is the third book in the series, and I am not sure whether it is the last one. If so, I am sad to say good-bye to the characters and the world. I would love to read more about how things work out with Wilder, whether he, Wade, and Winston resolve their issues, and how the new council works. (Note: You really need to start with the first book and read through in order to fully understand and appreciate the characters and events of this book.)

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Wade and Caleb have to save the witches and kill Christian. Again. The new twist is that the vampires and the Nightcrawlers are no longer on their side. They’re kind of on strike, so they’re killing witches instead of defending them.

Politically, Caleb is being asked to be part of the new high council, but he’s not sure. Wade’s hands are full with trying to learn magic, but he can’t cast a spell to save his life, literally.

They split up to find Christian and try to talk with the vampires. Both of them end up in trouble, which they get out of, but in the end, Wade finally casts a spell that gives Caleb a chance to rid the world of Christian, once and for all.

The kink is too disrespectful, but not violent, so it’s manageable. The bond between each couple is nice, gives the story several characters to keep track of.

Good read. The first book was the best in this series, though, I believe.

This was a series I really enjoyed. The first book was my favorite and the second one was really good too. But this third book felt unfinished to me. I also wasn't sure how I felt about the development of Wade and Caleb. I loved their relationship, and I like that both MCs were strong and dominant. I'm not so sure about the pet names though. The sex scenes were meh. I skipped over those. I'm not really into calling someone "master" and spitting doesn't do anything for me. I don't mind kink, but I wasn't interested in this.

I didn't think the action was as good in this one too. I felt like it was rushed. There was a lot going on. I didn't feel like I was given answers to some of my questions.

Although the third book in this series wasn't my favorite, I still enjoyed it and I still recommend reading this series.

I have loved these books from the moment I started Killer Heart.

Full of snark, love, excitement, action, nightcrawlers, vampires, witches, demons, shifters, swords, spells, secret hidey holes, a regenerating baby, hot fornication, blood, electricity, there is something in this book to keep everyone glued to the edge of their seats right to the last page.

It's at the last that I have a problem with this book; it feels like it hasn't quite finished to me, as if there's more to come (not Daddy Heart), as if there's things left unsaid and uncovered by the ended. I really hope that Rhys Lawless picks up his pen again with this pairing and rounds of the story just a bit more.

I totally recommend this whole series to you; pick it up today and you could have it read by next weekend xx

This book was so great, I loved watching Caleb and Wade's bond grow even stronger. Wade's struggles to cast spells was heart wrenching and I felt for him. I loved seeing the whole gang come back together to defeat their new enemy. The nightcrawler's abandoning the witches made my heart hurt while at the same time I could relate to how they felt after what happened at the Tower Bridge. I loved that Easton and Troy came back, their novella was such a great story and I was super happy to see them reappear. I loved that the scenes between Caleb and Wade keep getting kinkier. I really loved the action. This book is decidedly darker than the previous two. This book was wonderful and such a great third book in the series. I hope that there will be more books in the series as Rhys says at the end. I absolutely recommend this book.

Up to this point, the series had been fairly average, not fantastic but enjoyable. However, this book was where I hit a roadblock and couldn't finish it. In a series, you anticipate character growth and development, but in this book, Caleb and Jacob seem to regress into two insecure, weakened individuals. In the previous book, they defeated demons, and suddenly they're afraid of practically everything. Caleb, who was a powerful witch, now acts like a novice. This completely disrupts the storyline.

Furthermore, resurrecting the same enemy for the third time? It's become tiresome and unoriginal.

Lastly, the gratuitous pseudo-BDSM sex scenes felt entirely unnecessary.

Overall, I found this book weak, unappealing, and disruptive to the storyline developed in the previous installments. I can't recommend it.

Another fun addition

As with previous books of this series, the high points are spot on perfection , and the low points are either boring, or I'm not sure if they really need to be included to enhance the story.
Wade is struggling to accept his new identity and let go from his past mistakes. Caleb is struggling to have more of an active role in an agency that the decived his so greatly. Yet changes need to happen and with those changes, hopefully, peace among all supes, not just witches.
What I really do enjoy about this series no one just gets away from mistakes they all must atone their sins. The found family aspect of the ever expanding core group is proving to be exceptional as well.
Cannot be read as a standalone. And this is not the end of their journey, but the end of their origin trilogy.

Great story

This third installment of the series was really really good.

It started slowly (ish) and very quickly took off at a fast pace that won't let you put the book down.

The story itself was very interesting and captivating, and, as it follows the events of the previous books, it closes a few open threads.

The love and relationship between Caleb and Wade deepened despite everything going on around them. I loved all the new characters coming to the front in this book.

It was a great book and the ending was perfect and so fitting for these two men and some of the people around them.

Can't wait to see what's next in that world and hopefully we get to see more of them all

Wade and Caleb just can't catch a break. There is more stuff for them to deal with. The witches are left vulnerable and of course now someone or something is preying on them. Caleb is trying to help Wade with what they have learned about Wade and help him deal with it. Wade and Caleb are going to have to face their worst fears if they want to survive and possibly have their happy ending. This book picks up right where the previous one left off and has action from the beginning. I love these characters and I keep loving them more and more with each book. I enjoyed getting to see the reaction from the community though some people I wanted to smack. Caleb and Wade had their work cut out for them in this book just trying to survive. I can't wait for the next book! I love Caleb and Wade a lot.

Caleb and Wade return, as does the evil vampire/damphir Christian, with yet another world-imperiling scheme that sees the witches of London under attack from vampires. Add to that a revolt against the discriminatory hierarchy that places witches above the nightcrawlers who collaborate with and protect them, the fact that Wade’s still not quite got the hang of his powers, and assorted other dramatic and perilous twists (including a long lost relative who is, of course, in danger as well) and once again our heroes have a lot on their plates. I love this series, and this book has everything I like about it— a solid blend of snark, feels (Caleb and Wade are adorable together) steam, magic, and danger. A rewarding read.

Continuation of a growing relationship

I am a fan of this series. I love how In each book the relationship between Wade and Caleb grows stronger as they face trials and tribulations. It is easy to root for the success of their relationship. The supporting characters are also well written with personalities and mannerisms that are consistent from one book to the next. The only thing that bothered me about this book is the reappearance, again, of Christian. While I understand he is a vital part of the story, I find it getting to be too much. All in all though I enjoyed the book and cannot wait for the next.

No rest for the wicked. No rest for anyone.

The action continues, and our main heroes are hanging in there, but things could definitely be better.

This was not my favorite book of the series, but it’s not a stark/drastic difference. Some things are resolved, but there’s still enough left to the story to continue, if the authors chooses.

This series, as a whole and individually, is fast paced and has you rooting for Wade and Caleb. It’s well written and still full of great characters. I’m definitely curious to see what’s next for this bunch.

Vampire Heart is a great addition to the Cursed Hearts series! This is the third book. When Caleb and Wade think they have defeated all the evil people, an enemy comes back, but now he's bent on destroying all magic and is using the other vampires to do it. The nightcrawlers are on strike because they want a say in what they do for the witches, and Wade and Winston find out that their dad is alive but is being held as a prisoner. The author has stated that this isn't the end for Caleb and Wade, and we should be getting a spinoff series about the new Angel Guard. I eagerly look forward to reading more of both series.

Loved Wade and Caleb

Normally I try to write a review for each of the books I read, however I'm going to be honest here. I hate writing reviews. But I do it so the author can get the recognition they deserve for the books they work so hard to write.

I decided to wait until I finished reading this awesome M/M urban fantasy paranormal romance.

It was well written and parts of the trilogy had me thinking Twilight meets Supernatural.

And apparently I am a sucker for a good bonding ritual too, (even though I've read only one other)

I also kind of figured out that Wade is actually a witch back in the first book.

I cannot wait to read more about Wade and Caleb

🎧Audiobook Review🎧
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Performance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all, I have to say that I am very sorry that this is the last volume with Wade and Caleb and that I now have to say goodbye to them. Very, very sad.
This was a great finale in which the two still had to fight many times. Who is friend who is enemy? And a lot of things are not what they seemed....
Nerve-wracking, action-packed and exciting! I loved this paranormal world!

John York was absolutely fantastic and I think he immersed life into each protagonist, always finding a voice to match. He also portrayed the emotions believably. This was a lot of fun to listen to.

This interesting series is becoming better as the story and Caleb and Wade’s relationship evolved. Action-packed, and intensely emotional, this book got me pretty frustrated and at edge throughout all the pages until the very end with all the bad and unilateral decisions and the danger our MCs suffered on it. I am happy that all finished well but this was the most difficult read in the series. Totally loved it!! I recommend to read it as part of the series for fully enjoyment.
I received the book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Wade and Caleb Sizzle

Read the whole series and highly recommend. The world and characters created are really exceptional. Love the relationship of the main characters and their romance is hot. Only reason not 5 stars is due to couple of the plot lines I felt were lacking like the same bad guy(bodywise) for all there books was too much. Caleb past just had too many major experiences that kept being referred to and if you can choose to get rid of an addiction then choose to get back just the memories of caleb...sorry for any spoiler!

We’re all going to die, or not, no we are, definitely, but...

This is a terrible book, because at some point, you get to the end, and it’s finished, and you think “now what do I do”. It’s got everything in the mix, danger, death, betrayal, love and lust, HEA, reconciliation, it defies simple explanation and certainly doesn’t fit in one tick box, the series of Blade & Dust have all been terrific, and impossible to put down, this conclusion is very satisfying, complicated and well thought through.
