A Flashback Novel

The hellwolves are facing extermination... Warning: This book contains spoilers for those who have yet to read books 1 - 5 in the Sinister series! Please be sure to read those before reading this. You have been warned. ;)

Life in the Guard of Sinister House is always interesting. Sometimes, it's downright blistering.

Garrick is always grooming Evangeline to be his replacement, should the need ever arise. That means she gets sent on a lot of shit missions. He trusts her. She delivers...usually by kicking a ton of ass along the way.

Desperate times often require insane measures, and times have gotten pretty damn desperate.

Three of the minor hellion Houses are making a move against the hellwolves. It's political for the hellions, but for the hellwolves it's literally a case of life or death.

Fortunately, Garrick is bringing the Guard of House Sinister to their aid.

Eve is assigned an espionage mission that will push her to the limit, forcing her to channel distasteful things she'd learned in her youth. Sadly, even that pales in the face of being thrown to the front lines, fighting to do her duty no matter the price. In order to succeed, she'll have to face horrors she's never even imagined.

Sometimes the price of duty seriously sucks...

The Paranormal Police Department has delighted thousands of readers with action, adventure, outrageous (and often offensive) comedy, and tons of snark. Grab your badge and join the legion of fans who keep begging for more...

What readers are saying about the Sinister and the Black Ops PPD:

★★★★★ ‘Although I loved all the Sinister books I have to say this one is my favourite. Providing the back-story for all the other books, this prequel develops our preconceived ideas, shows the reasoning behind consequent actions and fleshes out the characters we thought we knew. Brilliant.’

★★★★★ ‘Undivine is now one of my favorite John P. Logsdon / Christopher P. Young books. This book is full of action and the pacing is perfect to match. There are a lot of the laughs one would expect, as well as a scene or two that had me choked up and fighting back tears. I loved seeing more of Garrick's and Evangeline's relationship and if you've read the Sinister series, you'll want to see more too.’

★★★★★ ‘A wonderful stroll through Eve's past with many a familiar Sinister character given insight. This has plenty of flashbacks and historic set pieces which helps broaden our understanding of the Sinister series. A great addition to any Sinister fan's library.’

Logsdon and his team of rockin' co-authors has brought laughs to hundreds of thousands of readers over various book series. The goal is simple: write stories for mature people who harbor seriously immature thoughts...

***In an old fashioned, posh British voice *** I say, old chap... Well done!

If you haven’t yet read any of the “Sinister” series, let me strongly suggest that you read this “prequel“ first, rather than the order written. You won’t get any spoilers here, Neither in this prequel or, if you misunderstood me, in this review. What it does, however, Is provide a deep understanding of the series’ central character. So much so I might add, that I am now going to launch on a re-read of the original series, just so that I may enjoy it in this new light of understanding.

That being said, however, you may note that I only gave this four stars instead of five. What can I say? I have been spoiled. John and his co-authors have such a light and whimsical style that it’s almost easy to overlook the fact that there’s an incredible amount of deaths in the settings and the characters and the plot, alike. Unfortunately, and compared to the rest of their work, this one feels a little “shallow.“ Honestly, since it was a deep dive into a single character, I don’t think that was in any way avoidable, but like I said… I’m spoiled. I blame John.

So, if you’re new to John Logston and his mini co-authors, although you won’t notice it’s missing, you’ll see what I mean when you get to the rest of his work. Enjoy!

I hate prequels! George Lucas and those three movies are to blame for that. This is not a prequel but rather a flashback and I love it! If you haven't read the Sinister series released prior to this, what's wrong with you? Those books are great reads with characters who have depth right from the start but, now get this, actually grow as the story progresses. Go read those now. I'll wait....

Oh good you're back. Almost sent a search party out for you but figured you were in the Badlands and the wifi is garbage there. So weren't those spectacular? I know right? Now you're ready for Undivine in all of its glory and hyper pace. Now I mean that. Strap in, have a drink nearby, and hold on like you're an MMA fighter looking to get the rear naked submission. That's right, you need to focus, remember what you've learned, and go for it! It's a great read with a ton of "Oh I see, now" moments and even some that are "What the...oh wait that makes sense."

Seriously give this a try and enjoy the ride. I can't wait for more of Evangeline's escapades. Wait can she still have escapades? If you read them all as I said you should, you know the answer to that. If not, quit reading this and go read it!

Great Story!

Thank you, John and Christopher, for this amazing look into the people and events that developed Evangeline’s character, especially Garrick. I really enjoyed Garrick’s snippets of wisdom at the beginning of the chapters. There is some really good advice in this book.
In this story, you will find manipulations and political intrigue galore, and action, as well as the authors’ trademark humor. Really?! Nizz and Juts?
And you really do have to read the first five books in this series first, because this story expands on past events that were touched upon briefly in the early stories. It is really fun to read about how Evangline ended up where she did.
Final thought-don’t annoy the cook! Great story!

Eve is (sort of) back! With the conclusion of the 5th novel, and the many new responsibilities Eve has in her new role, I did not see an easy way forward with some of these characters we love. So the author moved backward!
I was excited to revisit Eve's world, particularly to have more of the pseudo-paternal Garrick and to learn more of Kayson's past life which was terrific. This novel was not quite as thrilling as the main story arc which is to be expected from a prequel style novel as we already know the outcome from having read the previous books, but was highly enjoyable. The supporting cast really shines!
I only wish Andras felt even more diabolical.

A brilliant prequel to the whole Evangeline series & definitely should be read after you have read all five books in the series. It totally ties up many of the backstories of various characters, including of course Evangeline. I can’t say more without giving away spoilers, so please read my other reviews of each of the five books in the series, then read those books before this one.
I will finish by saying this prequel is written as well as the main series and has the same elements of magic, mystery, suspense, action & adventure mixed with fun. Don't miss out, read them!

Wow, this book was excellent. I loved getting the backstory on Evangeline and Kayson. Seeing how she developed as a guard and her interactions with Garrick really gives you insight into her character. Also I just loved learning a little more about Kayson. He is just a fun and entertaining character overall. You definitely do not want to read this book before you read the rest of the series. It will definitely spoil all the suspense. This is a great series of hilarity, danger and honor all wrapped up under the guise of intrigue and betrayal. Loved it!

Fantastic series of books. Get it read!!!

Just when you thought the sinister series of books can't get better, authors John p logsdon and Christopher P Young blow you out the water with Undivine. Make sure that you have read the rest of the books before you read this one. You get to know more about Garrick, Evangelines mentor. All characters are painted so vividly you could imagine going down the pub with them. This is an excellent read and will captivate you from the minute you start reading it.

Good Prelude

This was my least favorite book in this series. If you've read books 1-5 it's definitely worth three hours of your time. While it shares characters with the earlier books and fills in details that were referenced before, it's got a totally different tone and lacks the humor and vibrancy of the other books. It's good just not great. Had this book come first, I probably wouldn't have read the other books and missed put on some great stories. I recommend it after reading the first five but this is the only one I would not buy or read again.

Amazing backstory

Loved getting to know Garreck and all the events leading up to the first Black ops ppd books. Definitely read the rest of the series first. Kayson and Evangeline are wonderful characters both with many facets that factor into why they end up topside and why they think an feel certain things. Great backstory. Once again John and Chris nailed it (I know phrasing).

Great read!

I was very happy to see the Sinister series continuing. This is a prequel, but I think you'll enjoy it better if you read in order of publication. This fills in some details and provides a fantastic view of many of the characters origins and motivations. Make no mistake, it's just character building. There's tons of action and adventure, along with humor. Really loved the snippets in the epilogue.

Undivine, a fully realized flashback, offers rich texture and vibrant details to the series of events, only alluded to in the previous books, leading up to the Rite of Decimation that kicked off the Sinister series. It provides a glance at the cast of characters from all sides, and depth to the motivations, whether they be honorable or scheming, of all the major players. A fun, captivating read.

Undivine a Prequel to read last

This sixth book in the Sinster series is technically a prequel, but you must read the first five books so as not to spoil anything. I love this backstory, it fills in all the missing parts to the over-all storyline. It gives a depth to Eve and her Hellhound companion. Why they are, who and what they are. Their heart and soul.

Evangeline is one of my favorite characters. This prequel gives her beginnings and fleshes out characters that we see go forward in her series. We find that in the badlands that the world can be a much smaller place than we know and our past help makes what we become

I love a good backstory. Helps me get a better picture of the characters roots sometimes. And John Logsdon did not disappoint. I've been wanting more info on Eve's mentor and I am so glad I got it. Read the entire series. You won't regret it.

Puzzle Pieces

This book gives us a lot of the detail leading up to the Rite of Decimation and the bonus tidbits added even more of Eve's past. It still feels like there's more story to be told though but it's very clear that Garrick thought very highly of Eve.

A must read!

Fair warning - even though this is a prequel, you really need to read the other novels first, or you will end up with a lot of spoilers.

This is a fast paced story with some great action. I highly recommend this series for all urban fantasy fans

Those who have read the Sinister (Black Ops PPD) series might be wondering how Evangeline started out. Well wonder no more! Everyone has an origin story, and here is our favourite Hellions’ one! Enjoy!

I love that this book answers all the questions remaining from the previous books in this series. Now I know Evangeline's backstory, I'm so glad I read this. Do read the other books first though, to avoid spoilers.

A great series

What can I say... I have enjoyed the entire series of Evangeline stories. I do believe, however, that book number 6 should be read first. It contains wealth of knowledge that would prove very valuable in reading the series.

Flashback

I really enjoyed reading this. After all the references to the hellwolves escape it was nice to read the actual story. The little tidbits of flashback that really built up Eve's character were nice as well. I definitely recommend the series.

If you have read the 5 books in the Sinister series, then you will enjoy Undivine. This prequel gives further insight into the nature of the characters we have met throughout the series. Undivine has humour, action and drama galore, to keep you entertained. I loved it.

This is the story of the Hellwolves, it says to read book 1-5 first but I think this own should be the prequel. Great to see what happened with Kayson during the Old War.
