Publisher's summary

Six couples. One conference.

You’ve taken their journeys, fought the hard road along with them, but where are our couples at today? Dr. Kelby and her associate Dr. Mann have organized a conference in faraway Alberta to discuss their research on life-crippling phobias. Join up with Finnley, Rory, Ireland, Grayson, Arden, and all their partners as they travel across the country to take part in something a little more daunting than any of them expected. Who better to set all these men at ease than a surprise guest who probably shouldn’t be there?

Who invited Krew, anyway?

The road toward healing and happiness has improved, but where do our couples go from here?

What do their futures hold?

A farewell to all the Trials of Fear boys.

This book is NOT stand-alone and should be listened to only after you have heard ALL previous Trials of Fear books.

My favorite boys are back!

As explained in the synopsis, this book is not a stand-alone. If you haven’t read the other six books, you’re likely to get lost. And even if you have read them all, I recommend quickly scanning the synopses – especially if you’ve been listening to the books as each has been released. I grabbed each book when it came out, then waited with bated breath for the next one. I did a little happy dance when this final one came out.

Each of the men have been progressing in their own way through their individual recoveries. Some are going better than others. Some will, I believe, eventually fully recover from their phobias. Some will, I think, struggle for the rest of their lives. But that’s the burden of mental illness – all the therapy in the world can’t always fix what’s broken. You learn to live with it, and to figure out how to live your best life.

The journey each man took broke my heart. For some, like Rory, even getting up the strength to go to the conference is a huge ask. He’s partnered with the amazing Adrian, a psychology student who’ll never leave Rory’s side. I hope, one day, that Rory can go outside and into the light. Ireland is learning to cope with his aversion to touch, but the future is leading to more and more of that. Arden is, slowly, adding different foods to his menu choices. But his future plans are up in the air and he’s doubting everything around him. Finnley has mostly adapted to sleeping regularly, but the new arrival in their household promises to throw everything into chaos. Grayson’s time-watching less, and his partner has a secret that’s driving him nuts.

And then there’s Krew. Chaotic, lovely, loud Krew. He comes along to the conference to support Rory, but he winds up getting into all kinds of mischief. Poor Max. But Max turns the tables when they get home and oh, my God, what a happy surprise.

All of the men get varying degrees of a happy ending. Each is secure in their relationship. Each will live a fulfilling life. Each will find their own version of happily ever after.

Okay, so you have to listen to the entire series to get to this book, but the reward is intense. Finally, I have to mention the amazing performance of Adam Gold. Somehow, he managed to have twelve different voices for the men – Canadian voices – and I was never lost. I always knew who was speaking. I’m so glad he narrated this project. And I’m so glad I listened.

Grab your tissues this one hits right in the feels

I Read this book when it first was released. I found this book series when i was at a very low point in my life and these boy's have helped me get through it. I can relate to quite a few in different ways and even take some of Dr.Kelby's advice myself. Even when my own therapist is still confused on this mystery women is.

Re-living these stories from the start was a experience, reliving feels I had during this books initial run in my life. To discovering New things during the second run. One such thing is much like Gray I have a time based anxiety (not as extreme as his phobia) that became quite triggering for me during his sections.

I loved this book its such a great closer to this series. Seeing all the boys in there life's at different points. Some even going on new adventures. Others rediscovering the past and making new memories while they where there.

Adam has done such an amazing job with this Cast and these characters bringing them to life. I read these books and thought I knew all the punches that where coming at me. But I forgot to take into account Adam and how he breaths life into these characters. Yanking more tears out of me until i was all out then went back for more.

All the other books are standalone. they can be read in any order but release is the most "Concise" due to mentions of events from other books. This one? you must read all the other books to fully grasp and understand and appreciate these boys and there stories and the struggles each one of them went through, Its a celebration of what " Healing" truly is and how sometimes you need a push. or a pull. or a best friend threatening to chop your balls off.

This series is one that has stuck with me for years, and i know will stick with me for years to come.

Fantastic Series Wrap-Up

I enjoyed every minute of this book! It was so great catching up with these characters. I have enjoyed each hard won HEA in this series and this was a great send-off. While there is some angst, these couples are solid and I finished this with a smile on my face. Adam Gold is a fantastic narrator and he has excelled in this series. While this is not a standalone, for fans of the series, this is a must-listen. Well worth a credit!

A fabulous final visit with brilliant characters 💖

If you are reading this then hopefully you’ve finished listening to, or reading, the six books that come before in the remarkable Trials of Fear series. If not, hold off on this audiobook and treat yourself to the previous books because this one is not a standalone.

In Heal with You, Nicky James gifts us with a look into the current lives of all the couples we’ve come to love in the series focusing on lesser known phobias. We also get caught up with the couples’ continued struggles and their successes.

This book has all the men come together for a conference on phobias. It was a delight to hear the characters offering support and interacting with each other, many for the first time. I loved being reminded of their individual stories and hearing more about their backstories. Naturally, Nicky James adds a bit of angst and excitement to the event, but leaves us and her characters whole when she’s done. Ultimately I thoroughly enjoyed finding out how much each man grew into their own, with milestones achieved and updated hopes and dreams. It was even more enjoyable to hear it all from their multiple points of view and in all of their voices.

Adam Gold narrating anything is always masterful. He was brilliant in each of the previous Trials books, but in Heal With You he has over a dozen voices and personalities to navigate. As expected, his delivery is thoughtful, emotional, and even humorous (can you say Krew!?)
I love the extra touch of expert sound effects. For example, Gold makes you believe every phone call, feel you’re hearing someone at a microphone, and more. These Adam Gold hallmarks make this audiobook more than just an emotional listen, but also a fun and immersive experience.

Overall this was a fabulous end to a memorable series. I will miss these amazing men. Thank you Nicky James for giving us happy futures for characters I cared deeply about. I loved this finale and highly recommend it to everyone who has experienced the magic of the Trials of Fear.

The series-wide wrapup I didn't know I needed

After experiencing everything from the purest joy to the depths of despair with these characters in their individual books, it was wonderful to see them all come back together for a final sendoff. This story is 100% not a standalone, but for those who have read and enjoyed the Trials of Fear series, you'll definitely want to give this a listen to see what the next chapter of these couples' lives look like. From proposals and weddings to new careers, celebrating milestones, and welcoming new family members into their homes, these men captured my attention effortlessly and kept me engaged from start to finish. I'm seriously impressed by the way Nicky James balanced all six couples' storylines while weaving together an overarching narrative that felt cohesive, and Adam Gold was more than up for the challenge of narrating each couple in their own style. I found each individual plotline very satisfying, and it made me so happy to catch up with these men and remember all the things I loved about them. While most of the couples did experience some angst and drama in this story, it was spread out so I never felt too overwhelmed and the overall audio maintained its upbeat tone. Honestly the entire time I was listening I was just so thrilled to be back in these characters' lives again that I couldn't let any bump in the road dim my mood--I knew they'd all work it out in the end. And speaking of the end, if you thought one Nicky James happy ending could melt your heart, imagine six of those all packed into one book, each unique but with the same power to reduce you to happy tears. It's safe to say this audio cleared up any last questions or concerns about whether the men from this series could make their relationships last long-term, and what an emotionally satisfying ride it was.

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Perfect ending to the series

It was so good catch up with our favourite couples from the Trials series, seeing how they've been travelling over time. I love how they have all been brought together to give us a most satisfying ending the this amazing series.

Of course it wouldn't be a Nicky James book without a little bit of angst but ultimately I was very happy to see all of the Trials couples thriving and just as in love as ever. There are still struggles and obstacles they overcome and fight almost daily but the strength of these men really shone through.

Again Adam Gold nails the narration. Through this series he has definitely become a favourite of mine and I look forward to listening to more stories from him.

Spectacular!!

The Trials of Fear series is one of my very favorites. The conclusion of this series, with everyone’s story wrapped up, narrated by Adam Gold… seriously elevated it to next level standards. Somehow Adam was able to distinctly use each character’s voice, and the match to their individual audio books was seamless. I’m in awe of his narration, and combined with Nicky’s amazing storytelling abilities, this has become a treasured audio. I loved all of the Trial of Fear books, but I found myself with a couple of soft spots for a few of those men. Reading a wrap up of all of them: how they’ve been, how they have progressed and where they are going now was so great! I loved visiting with some of my favorite couples and of course Krew worked his way into their story too! While all of the Trial of Fear books can be read in any order, this does not standalone from the series. This should only be read once all the accompanying books have been enjoyed. If you haven’t started this series, this is not one to be missed!

Another 5🌟 perform by insanely talented Adam Gold

🎧🌟Audiobook🌟🎧
This was an intense and very satisfying goodbye to all the beloved characters in this very recommendable series. Each couple, including Krew and Max, attend this phobia-conference, and we get to see them both before and after, their HEA´s strongly confirmed yet very realistic, coping with real life dilemmas and finding a more steady way to live with their phobia.

I´m quite in awe of the performance from Adam Gold here, every character from each book read in each owns voice. He really is an extremely talented voice actor!

I wandered off on my daily walks with both smiles and tears in my eyes❤️🥹

It is however no standalone, you need to read every other book before this!

Sad the series is over

I love this series, I'm sad it's over. Ms James is a brilliant storyteller. I loved the world she created with this one. I wanted to live there and meet them! Omg I wish I had a Krew in my life. I have several favorite narrators, but I gotta say Adam Gold is top notch. He does every emotion spot on, appropriate sound effects ( like talking to someone on the phone, sniffles when crying.. ect.) He really is a genius with his craft. 5☆ for everything
