His sister is back and she's ready to take over the city...
Ian Dex and his crew knew it was only a matter of time before Wynn returned to fight for control of Las Vegas.

She's arrived.

A new set of ubers has hit the Strip. This time, though, there's infighting and it's all Wynn can do to keep them under control. Fortunately, she's got a backup plan...and it's a doozy.

Ian fights his sister's attempts, until she shows up at his door seeking refuge. Does he trust her? Hell no. But sometimes you have to let your enemy close, in order to defeat them.

Worse, you often have to become just as cunning and crazy as they are...

Laughs. Mayhem. Blistering fun. If you loved the first set of Ian Dex books, you're going have a blast with this one! It's hilarious, action-packed, and loaded with naughty.

And the original is back! Ian and his PPD crew had been taking it easy after the fiasco with Gabe and the Ubers. Had, past tense. Wynn, his sister, has started to make her bid to take over Vegas. Step 1: even more ubers. But this attempt won't adhere to anyone's roadmap.
All of the twists, turns, and hilarious action expected from a Vegas PPD book. Welcome back.

I'm so happy to get back into Vegas PPD. Ian is a favorite of mine, and this installment doesn't disappoint. Plenty of mayhem for The Spin to, um, spin. Porn stars, dancing goblins (Larry tries to steal the show), long talks with The Admiral... Seriously, what's up (heh) with The Admiral?

Highly enjoyable series

Having read the netherworld series a while ago, I had actually forgotten the rest of the PPD books in till Law Vegas showed up in my kindle suggestions, and I'm loving the series! Action, magic, snark and plenty of chuckles.

The time for war has arrived...Ian's army is ready. He has Evangeline and the crew of the Black Ops PPD, Piper Shaw and the Retrievers from the Netherworld PPD, Zeke Phoenix and the cops from the Badlands PPD, along with valkyries, mages, werewolves, vampires, and pixies.

Their collective power is vast, but Wynn still holds the edge. She's loaded up with ubers and has been building an army of criminals that all but dwarf Ian's numbers. But there's no time left for recruitment. War is on the horizon, which means each of Ian's squads will need to use every trick in the book to take down Wynn. Failure will mean the end of Las Vegas, and very likely the end of peace in both the Netherworld and topside.

Wynn is a fully powered amalgamite with an evil mind, and that is a recipe for dark times. The question is who will be willing to pay the highest price in order to win?

Searing Instinct: An Ian Dex Supernatural Thriller (Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department Book 8)
Searing Visions: An Ian Dex Supernatural Thriller (Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department Book 9) due soonish
Searing Destiny: An Ian Dex Supernatural Thriller (Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department Book 10) due soonsh

the blurb with all the ppd etc listed should be under SPOILERS, bcthat NOT in bk 8, must be unreleased 9 and/or 10, and whatever other ones he tries to stretch, which btw includes New Cadet Guide (The Paranormal Police Department) which canNOT frin on amazon so far.

used to keep full list, but it was very long, and besides, only ones read any more is Orlando Sanchez and Noah Studevant which is the badlands and asian ppd, respectively, all of them now have come to an end, except logsdon's las vegas ppd, unless the Sinister or special ops ones, dunno do not keep up with/not bother to read those, not sure will get around to/bother with the last of these, other stuff to read with my time

Once again we have been thrown into the fray with Dex, Rachael and the rest of the team. Wynn, Dex's sister is back and Dex and Rachael and Las Vegas are in danger. The power that Dex had before the death of his father is gone and he is back to his normal self. He misses the power...sort of. Ferocious battles, trickery, magic and the return of the power he had to deal with before is back. Wynn is a winner and is on the prowl to draw Ian back out to save his dear Las Vegas. First he has to build up an army and to do that they have to go where Wynn can't find them. A cliffhanger to be sure, but the next book is waiting to be read, so on to the next. Excellent continuation of this series and great to read about Dex again.

I was looking forward to reading the next instalment of this series. The previous books were very humorous and raced along at a good pace with the usual smattering of naughtiness. I found this instalment lacked interest and I had it read in about two hours or maybe less as it lacked content. Some funny scenes with the satyr and with the slug which did make me laugh but that was it. I think you have run out if steam with this storyline and it’s time to round it off. I will read the next one because I have invested my time with Ian Dex and his cronies. Sorry John but not one if your best and I’ve read most of your books.

Dex is back, baby!
After a little break following a terrific story arc, I'm excited to read more from the original PPD crew. Be prepared for a little/lot of potty humor and adult situations - the return of the Ubers (and his you-know-what of destiny) was nearly too much for me, but that humor is also what we come for...
Good action and fast read reminiscent of the first book in the series. It did get a little slow for me in the middle, but I know that's just laying groundwork for another epic arc!

Absolutely awesome!!

Have you read any of the ppd books? If not why? Searing instinct sees Ian dex and his group back with a bang!! Fighting supernatural ubers is bad enough, but when it's your sister thats controlling them. What do you do? With absolutely hilarious characters and scenarios which will make you laugh until your sides ache, this book delivers a great adventure. Plenty of action and characters that are highly entertaining it's a must read.

I am so very excited for the Ian Dex series to continue, and this newest book was a fantastic jumping off point. I can see a few breadcrumbs that will lead into the next book and I’m pretty anticipatory.
The character who has the most growth through this story is, no pun intended, the Admiral. He just has so many ups and downs, but he deals with them fabulously. He’s way smarter than I ever gave him credit for.
The laughs are non-stop. Great book!!!

I really liked this book!

I like the PPD series a lot. Very way and they red fast. Ian books are on the level of 5th grade boys as far as humor goes. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it can get old and just be a wee bit much. Not the last couple of books...this one especially. I couldn't put it down. Great story and fun fun fun!
I can't wait, and already ordered part 2.. Hah Wynn Dex!
Great job!

Ian and team keep moving forward into developing resources in order to defeat his sister. Further insights into Ian and how his team work including team members and their strategies help round out the family they have become. The things we learn and the snark we read don’t have your mouth full of liquid when reading. Go Las Vegas PPD

Ian and the Vegas PPD team are back with more action. The team is up against more ubernaturals and Ian's sister Wynn. Twerking goblins, AVN awards, Satyrs, masochistic slugs and more humor than you could shake The Admiral at. Speaking of The Admiral, what's up with him? It's not like him to stay quiet through nearly the entire book. Grab a copy of Searing Instinct and enjoy the ride!

Ian Dex returns & it's a lot of fun!

Ian Dex and the gang are back! If you've made it this far into the series, you know what to expect. You won't be disappointed. Las Vegas PPD is being tested by Ian's sister, Wynn and her ubernaturals. There's tons of action and this book is full of seriously funny writing throughout. Perfect adventure to dive back into the Las Vegas PPD!

Entertaining, funny, exciting and so much more. Ian is at his best and up against his sister. Talk about sibling rivalry. This book had me snorting on occasion with it's humor. Loved the way the the authors developed the characters and made them even funnier. Cannot wait for the next one.

The One, the original Ian Dex is back! Dealing with the supernatural is his job but it seems dealing with Drama is his life. Ubers, Rachel his girlfriend, Wynn his sister and even the Admiral. One of the funniest books yet by one of the best comedic Urban fantasy writers around.

The gang is back!

After the conclusion of the first Ian Dex series, the wait was worth it for this new adventure with Ian and his crew.

His sister has taken over the mantle of the new big bad, and she is really good at it. Can't wait for the next book!

Great story but

So I've liked all these books, they are fun quick reads. I had a hard time with this one due to the perspective changes. All of a sudden we had to have everyone's perspective. The plot was still good but I struggled with that

Such a fun book. Action, mayhem, jokes and more. Some of the scenes I could never have imagined. Kind of reminds me of a Monty Python sketch, but even funnier. Larry and Tammy! I am going to crack up laughing every time I hear Baby Got Back now!
I enjoyed the maneuvering between the various factions as they worked toward their goals. By the end you can see that everyone’s plans are pulling together. Can’t wait for the next book!
