Stolen by the Dragon (Storm Dragons Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 605 ratings

He thought he’d lost everything, but then he found her…

The only thing on Damien’s mind is ensuring his race will live on. It’s that single-minded focus that drove the storm dragon through the magical portal, the last of a small band of dragons fleeing an ominous and powerful enemy. When he’s confronted on the other side by a short, sassy and deliciously curvy woman with powers he can’t comprehend, everything changes. He
should be focusing on the future of his people, but all he wants to do is focus on her. His dragon is roaring wildly and he doesn’t know how much longer he can resist its call.

Anna Sturgis has trained all her adult life at Winterspell Academy. She’s ready to face any of the usual paranormal threats. Werewolves, vampires, Faeries, she’s prepared for them all. What she can’t fight is the sizzling attraction she feels to one dragon shifter in particular. Her studies are beckoning, but the siren call of the muscular male is more luring than anything she’s felt before. If she can’t learn to resist his smile, then she’s going to succumb to him completely.

Their nightly rendezvous are strictly forbidden by both sides. Secret passages are their respite, where they are free to explore the connection between them. That is, until everything is exposed, leaving Damien with but one choice. He doesn’t want to do it, but it’s the only way to save Anna. In the process though, he might just put her in even greater danger. Because the evil the dragons thought they left behind isn’t about to give up…

Riley is one of those early-morning people you love to hate, because she swears she doesn’t need caffeine, even though the coffee-maker is connected to her smartphone. She lives in a three-story townhouse by the good graces of a tabby-cat who rules the house, the couch, the table, well, basically everywhere. When she’s not groveling for forgiveness for neglecting to pet her kitty enough, Riley is strapped in to her writing chair coming up with crazy worlds where she can make her own decisions of when feeding time is and how much coffee can be drank without her friends—of which she has three—holding yet another intervention that they threaten to post on the internet.

Anne starts out as very mature, strong, and dedicated & then she acts like a teenager. Damien...idk... his dialogue sometimes gave the impression that he had been in this new world for a lot longer. He just didn’t come across as strong is I think his character could’ve been. Also the ending just kind of left you hanging. The storyline left me wondering about a few of the bad guys there at the Academy and some of the sisters didn’t act very sisterly even though they have been together for many years. I’m not sure if I will go to the next installment in the series...I’d give it a 3.5

Even though this story was written, I think, before Covid-19, it may be appropriate. What if our virus ended up infecting each person we meet and we had to leave Earth to go to another planet. This is a wonderfully appropriate read.
I also enjoyed Anna's strength and Damien's expressions of love. They fit well together in a good romance story.
Finally as a woman I was tickled that he took her name. Keep them coming , Riley.

I'm a little disappointed and confused with this book. Because I've read all the books in her last series I found a lot of similarities in this latest book. It feels like Riley is going connect the two series somewhere down the line. An example of my confusion is making these dragons from Draconia and the dragons from her last series have Dracon as their last name. Also wondering what time period is it set in? I really enjoyed Riley's first series so I'll keep reading when the next book is released. Hopefully things are a little clearer then.

Enjoyable story of dragons fleeing there planet due to an invasion. They travel through a portal and end up on Winterspell Academy property. Winterspell is where witches are trained to enhance their powers. Anna is the witch leading the patrol the day the dragons are spotted. She feel an instant pull towards Damien. There is an HEA after a few surprises.

This is an entertaining story. It has lots of action and excitement, and a romance between a witch and a dragon. The dragon is one of a small number of refugees who seek shelter on earth. The witches are suspicious and there is some prejudice from some of the hierarchy. The ending of this story is cute, but there are definitely more issues to resolve. I look forward to reading more in this series

4.0 out of 5 stars A somewhat sweet tale of different realms

The battles and issues were very interesting but the story often seemed to be a bit less adult and more Teenaged. I thought the Dragon was strong and dominant enough but the witch seemed very immature... Teenaged like... Maybe it was the dormitory setting it the school like witch testing.... But it just felt a bit PG when R is the rating I'd normally expect for a Dragon Shifter romance. There was nothing wrong with the story I really like the DRAGONS they are very confident and strong characters, it is the witches that seem to be very immature, unsure, and not quite adult. Maybe the next book will have a Dragon finding a strong and self assured Master rather than an initiate.
