Publisher's summary

Easton

There is nothing I hate more than when some big-city outsider stirs trouble in my peaceful little town. When Mr. Arrogance himself waltzes in and thinks he can slap a price tag on my land, he doesn’t know what he has coming. I’m not just a hick cowboy who’s going to bend to his good looks and charmless personality. No, sir.

I don’t care how smart he looks in his fancy suits, all he cares about is money.

I just wish I’d known who he was before I kissed him.

Lachlan

The last thing I wanted was to get stuck in a small town with a plethora of quirky people. If the stubborn cowboy doesn’t see sense soon, I don’t know what I’ll do. Failure is not an option. I was sent to make a deal, and I’m not leaving until it’s done.

I don’t care how hot he looks in his low hanging denim, boots, and hat, he wouldn’t see a good opportunity if it smacked him in the face.

I just wish I could get the taste of him off my tongue.

City and country collide in this enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, low-angst MM romance novel.

Even better in audio

Wow. I loved this book when it was released but I love it even more now. Nick Russo did a fabulous job bringing these characters to life and giving me all the feels. I adore the voices he used in this narrations and they're exactly how I imagined them in my head. This narration was PERFECT. 10/10 Will listen again.

Best story ever!

This story was engaging from the first paragraph. One of the few (out of hundreds) I have read that drew me in and wouldn’t let go. The epilogue was well done (instead of tricking me with a teaser about the next book…which never works on me). This is among my top all-time books!

A sweet and steamy enemies to lovers romance!

This was such a sweet, swoon worthy enemies to lovers romance.

Easton and Lachlan are opposites in every way and clash when they first meet. Their chemistry is intense and palpable and their instant dislike to eachother is apparent.
But their desire for eachother is stronger than their differences and they realize that they have much more in common that they thought.

This was a feel good, cosy low angst Listen. Nick J. Russo performed a stellar audio delivery as always!

Perfection

Nick did an awesome job bringing this book to life. Let’s just say swooning over Easton

I can’t scream enough how much I love this book. If I had like one hour left in the day, I would have read the whole book in one day. I could not put these men down. Nicky sucked me in from the beginning and took me on one heck of a journey of finding love. This is one heck of an opposites attract and enemies to lovers book.

Easton is a hard working cowboy working his ranch. He is a family guy and just wants someone for himself to live a happy life with a ranch full of kids. He is stubborn, loyal, honest, and has a huge heart.

Lachlan is the COO of his fathers company and the pressure and insults he takes is unbearable. He is spoiled, judgmental, untrusting, insecure, and sexy.

Their paths cross when Lachlan is sent to buy up the land that Easton owns to develop it. Man, there is instant attraction but Easton can see the type of person Lachlan is from ten feet away. These two throw insults like no other and set aflame to the fire every time they are near each other.

As they spend time together, walls are let down and the city slicker starts to love the country life. Although they are total opposites, they just mesh.

Pick up this book. You won’t be disappointed. I am so excited to have found out there is more to this series and we will see more of them in the future. I loved Easton’s family. I loved Lachlan’s brother. I just found his way into my heart right from the beginning. And the biggest love I found was with Percy. I love me a country man and a city slicker. 🌆🌄

Canadian Cowboy

Nick's performance was great as always. But, who thought it was a good idea for the Campbells to have a drawl? Canadians have their own fabulous dialect. Not all cowboys speak with a Texas drawl. The drawl and last names for first names are mainstays for south of the Mason-Dixon line. Easton's drawl was much like my own!

I had a hard time liking Lachlan through most of the chapters which was necessary for the story. I loved Easton and Percy together which just had to work out!

Once I settled in, I enjoyed the story very much. Good feels.

One of the best enemies to lovers story ever!

I really loved listening to this one. One of the things I watch out for when listening to enemies to lovers stories, is the author would bring the two characters together, overcome the dislike and animosity. Nicky did that with such masterful storytelling, at a pivotal moment and emotional scenes.
I might have gotten teary eyed on some areas and had cringed on some other parts. But I'm glad Nicky didn't push a lot of angst on this one. There's already so much feels running around.
I also found the accurate representation of epilepsy interesting.
I love everything about this book and I want more of Lachlan and East. Maybe I'll catch more of them as I listen to more of the series.
Nick J Russo did an incredible job narrating this story. This one deserves more than 5 stars!

outstanding performance

THE STORY:
Hometown Jasper is a new small-town series from one of my favourite authors and Clashing Hearts is the first of four in this series.
I love small-town stories, and Clashing Hearts did not disappoint.
This book is a well written, low-angst, opposite-attract, enemy-to-lovers story with all the feels and emotions you come to expect from Nicky James.

Easton is your typical family-loving, country guy who would do anything for the people he loves. He needs to do whatever he can to keep his family ranching business from folding... anything BUT sell to the arrogant city boy who waltzed into town.
Lachlan is your typical big-city, executive guy. He has been tasked with the job of obtaining Mr Campbell's property and he cannot disappoint his father.

There's banter, quick witty comebacks and sexual tension.
From the start, Easton's character endears himself to the reader. Lachlan however, took a while. I started out hating Lachlan, and didn't know how Mrs James would get me to start liking him, but I shouldn't have worried, as she wove her magic and I found myself loving Lachlan as much as I did Easton.

Let's talk about side characters!!!
Little Percy total stole my heart!!! There are also a cast of quirky townsfolk whose stories I can't wait to read!!

THE NARRATION:
Nick J Russo did an amazing job with this book! This is his first collaboration with Mrs James and I'm so happy to hear that there's more to come!
He brought this cast of characters to life!!! I especially loved Easton's southern drawl.
I can't wait to see what he does with the rest of the series!!

Enemies to Lovers

I had previously read this book an enjoyed it but listening to it was a totally different experience. Nick Russo absolutely brought Easton and Lachlan to life. I literally felt bad for Lachlan every time East yelled and screamed at him. I wanted to shake some sense into East. It was an absolute joy listen to them finding the first few tendrils of friendship. I listened to their friendship grow and their attraction grow until they couldn't contain it any longer. They were so good together and it was amazing. I highly recommend this audiobook.

So good!

Definitely going on my top 5 favorites of all time. I always prefer two narrator books so there is distinction between the characters, I just feel it makes it easier to listen and follow and much more dynamic, but Nick goes back and forth between the characters voices so seamlessly and you almost forget it’s only one person doing both characters, truly awesome narration.

I am a sucker for enemies to lovers trope and Nicky does an excellent job of making you REALLY dislike a character and essentially going on the same journey with East to grow to like and eventually love him. Not sure if that was the intent, but truly such a good story!
