Big Bad Billionaires #2

The Billionaire's Secret

Rate this book
"You are MINE..."

Saint Jordan Killian Caldwell
A gazillionaire with a panty melting smirk; and a soul as broken as my own.
I wanted a child.
He wanted a willing wife.
I wanted someone to break me and build me up again...
He wanted no emotions, no connection.
A simple transaction, that's what he said it would be.
I needed something in me to shatter, so I could finally live.
He promised that he was the one... who'd bring me to the edge.
Show me how it could be between a man and a woman....
Just... you know... no sentiments involved.
I thought I was willing to do as he commanded.
After the nightmare life that I'd led, I hoped that I could walk away with one thing that belonged to me: my own flesh and blood. My baby.
That was the deal I had made.
I hadn't expected to develop feelings for the father of my child.
Definitely hadn't meant to fall in love with the man I must betray...

Note: This is Victoria and Saint's story. Features a possessive, snarly, billionaire and the woman he'd do anything to keep safe. The Big Bad Billionaire series intertwines with the Arranged Marriage Dark Mafia Romance series.
Each book, is a standalone and promises a pulse-pounding, HEA.

I felt like I was missing things at the start!

Have you ever gotten the feeling at the beginning of a book that you were missing something and you just can’t get into it after that? I had that experience with this book. It wasn’t a bad story, I just was missing something in the beginning and it never clicked. It was like the relationship between this couple started in the middle and I didn’t like that.

The heroine Victoria (a.k.a. Tory, a.k.a. Gigi), was at the wedding of her supposed husband’s stepdaughter. It seemed like from the start she had already something going on with the Hero, but in fact I think she just met him. Though he said some completely inappropriate things to her for someone he just met, especially someone who was married. She reacted oddly and I just didn’t understand what was going on.

From there the relationship jumped from one completely inappropriate situation to another and even if he was the hottest guy I had ever seen and a billionaire to boot, I can’t see anyone putting up with his crap. So it was a bit unbelievable. A lot times when the Hero is an alphahole, there is something at least that I can hang on to as to why the heroine is attracted to him. For example some hot steamy scenes where he gets her all riled up and you can see the attraction despite his other behavior.

However, even though there were some steamy scenes early on. He kept leaving her hanging and between that and his rude behavior, I just wasn’t feeling him until further on in the book when he started getting nicer. I just kept thinking that if I were her, I wouldn’t bother with him. I would walk out and never see him again. Though in truth she had a reason not to leave, she needed something from him, so I kept reading.

Saint and his friends were actually very funny the way they ragged on each other about women and macho things like boxing and who can beat whom. It definitely got much better when Saint started realizing he had feelings for tory and I ended up liking the story quite a bit!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

THE HERO LETS ANOTHER WOMAN IN FRONT OF THE HEROINE TO SUCK HIM OFF WHEN HE TOLD HER AND TO MANY PEOPLE AND TO HIMSELF THAT THE HEROINE IS THE WOMAN HE WANTS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE... AND THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK WHEN HE ALLOWS THAT OTHER WOMAN TO DO THAT!!!!! WTF!!!!! HE EVEN HAVE THE PLEASURE DOING IT WHEN HE ALLOWS THE HEROINE TO WATCH IT!!!! SICK BASTARD!!!!

THE HEROINE IS STUPID TOO BECAUSE SHE SAYS WHEN SHE SAW THAT IT WAS HOT FOR HER. DAMN STUPID COUPLE TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!

AFTER THE HERO WENT WITH THAT ANOTHER WOMAN, WE GET TO SEE ANOTHER WOMAN AGAIN BECAUSE THE HERO DECIDES TO GO THERE. HE DID PUSH THAT WOMAN OFF BUT AFTER THAT WOMAN TOUCH HIM BUT WHY EVEN DO IT WHEN YOU SAY THE HEROINE IS ALL YOU THINK ABOUT?

Read an excerpt
"On your knees," I growl.
She hesitates.
I lower my voice to a hush, "Now." Her shoulders stiffen, then she pushes up to kneel at my feet. It puts her face at eyelevel with my crotch. My groin hardens.
I reach down, grab my cock. Her breath hitches. She drops her gaze, watches as I massage my dick.
She licks her lips and my muscles go solid. My shaft lengthens. Ah hell, hadn’t meant for things to get out of hand so quickly…literally.
I widen my stance to accommodate my arousal and she makes a sound deep in her throat.
"That's not for you." I smirk. "Yet."
"What?" She peers up at me from under sooty eyelashes.
"You'll have to earn it first."

L.Steele, this book needs more than a 5 star rating. Saint and Victoria met at Sin and Summer's wedding and from their first encounter, the chemistry was already off the charts. Did she know who he was? Was he the intended one? Did he know why she was there? All will be revealed. This book will have you hating Saint as he torments Victoria in the most sadistic of ways but will make you feel each and every sexy scene between them. A beautiful twist in the story will make you fall head over heels for this SEX GOD!! Victoria had NO idea who she was dealing with and oh my heavens does she get it!! If you looking for a great read that leads to cold showers, GET THIS!! Absolutely loved the angst and pwer plays between the characters. Well Done L.Steele, another great book!!

Largo, lento, repetitivo

Impressive, interesting and absorbing the development of the plot with the strong and dark emotions of the protagonists. Victoria struggling with her feelings towards Saint and her loyalty towards her friend and Saint trying to keep his stability and his feelings under control while continuing with the mission that the Seven have. I liked the intense scenes that kept me reading because I was so intrigued with the complex relationship and twists in the story. Suspense, intrigue, betrayal, amusing secondary characters, some violence, romance and lot of heated passion. I like these exciting and complex stories with strong issues that make me think.

☄️☄️ONE TITILLATING JOURNEY☄️☄️
Smokin'! Steele comes through yet again with this incredibly hot little firecracker, unleashing tantalizing tactics, blazing decisions and skyrocketing desire, grabbing your attention from the start and holding it till the very end, fusion this sizzling beauty together seamlessly. Observing the separate struggles and heart soaring triumphs, noting the dramatic twists and intricate turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned, bursting this baby to life flawlessly. The attraction and chemistry collides with such perfection, drawing you deeper, kicking this baby into the eye of the storm, slamming it into a tailspin with a life changing culmination. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Incredible job Steele, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

My first book by this author and I’m loving it! The alpha hero has us in a pool of sin! Saint is every girls dream, rich, demanding, sexy, strong, alpha dominated, protective as crazy to the ones he love. Gigi is perfect for him in every way except she has a job to do to protect her friend using Saint. Kidnapping, mafia, so much drama! Can she save her friend? Will Gigi have an happy ever after? This story is one foreplay to each sexually encounter! Loved the scene where she wears the green dress just for Saint jealousy to rip it off. Wow!

Another bestseller by the very talented L. Steele!
This time it's Saint & Victoria's story, we met both of them in The Billionaire's Fake Wife.
This book can be read as a stand alone book, but is part of a series.
Fantastic character development and tension kept throughout the book.
From the first page it's full on action and very hot, steamy, exhilarating and captivating!
If you love strawberries, keep on reading!
Saint is an absolute Alphahole with loads of secrets and he's on a mission.
Victoria is under the Mafia's hold and needs to fulfil her task or something dreadful will happen, more secrets!
They both are immediately attracted to each other big time and Saint's dominating personality dominates the whole book, but Victoria can hold her ground.
It was not only total fun to read about their developing relationship, but kept you gasping for breath and this book makes way for another Spin off, plus we get to meet Weston in more detail. His story is up next!!!
We find out more about the 7 and what motivates them, plenty of new, interesting characters are being introduced.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would !
Absolutely loved reading The Billionaire's Secret and cannot wait for more!!!

What a disappointment!
Let me just cut to the chase... from the start you feel like you have been dropped in the middle of a story that you had no clue about it’s beginning! Even if you had read the first book in the series, which I have, you would still have no clue where did this story start!!!
All the way up to the last 10% of the book you feel that you are in the middle of a very long, tedious, immature, 50-shades-wanna- be book!
If you haven’t read the first book you will not get any clue or understanding of the background story of the seven kidnapping.
You will also finish the book without really understanding how did Victoria get into the story or what’s her connection to the mafia and how they end up putting her in saint’s life.

Weston’s story is out but I don’t think I’ll bother. Too bad cus I rated the first book 4/5

US / WW

Victoria has to take one of The Seven down if she wants to obtain Nina's freedom. Unfortunately for her, the billionaire she chooses, Saint, is not exactly cooperative. Well, he is, but only to his own desires. He's dominant, he's an asshole, and he refuses to open himself up to anyone, especially her. No matter, she doesn't need his heart, only some information, and perhaps a baby, then she'll be set, Nina's freedom will be assured.

First off, I have to say that I did not read the first book in this series, but it does say in the blurb this is a standalone. So I went into it expecting it to be a standalone, and it is, to a degree. But when I started, right away I could tell I needed to have read the first story, because I felt as if I were thrown into this story, and was expected to already know who these characters were and why they were acting the way they were. Well, I had no clue so I felt underwater. It got a little better as I kept reading, but I never felt this was a total standalone. This is partly why 3 rather than 4 stars. The other reason is I never warmed to Saint. Yes I appreciated getting his backstory and it explained his behavior and personality SOMEWHAT, but I never felt he redeemed himself. He stayed a dick for the entire story, his behavior toward Victoria was really unacceptable. He's just damn lucky she had fallen for him and needed information from him or she never would have stayed with his jerk self. The story itself, though, is entertaining, their chemistry is hot, and I liked Victoria. She's strong, likable, and should be the one named Saint for putting up with his asshole ways.

I may be biased, but I really enjoyed the story of Saint and Victoria (aka Gigi). Like the rest of the Seven, Saint is determined to remain single and enjoy a life of debauchery, but he doesn’t stand a chance against Victoria, whom he dubs “Gigi.” He knows she has been sent to spy on him, but he doesn’t care. He thinks he’ll be able to keep an eye on her and figure out what her intentions are. To no one’s surprise, he falls in love with her. That part’s easy though, compared to his reservations about ever even considering having children.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the BDSM aspects of this story, and I think the story could have been just as powerful without it, but I understand that’s what sells right now. That’s why I was able to overlook it and focus on the content of the story and the hero’s journey for Saint, and to a lesser degree, Victoria. Victoria grows as a person, but Saint transforms—from a self-centered alphahole to a caring (and still controlling) spouse. Naturally, he also comes around to the idea of being a father, with Victoria's help, and realizes he can handle the challenge.

I didn’t think I would like Saint. He’s kind of an a-hole. But by the end of the story, he was saying the sweetest, most romantic things—things that I never would have imagined him saying. He and Victoria are on more equal footing at that point also, and I liked that too because the whole “sir” thing felt silly (even Victoria thought so). So despite the issues I had with some of the interactions between Saint and Victoria early on, ultimately I found myself appreciating the relationship, the growth of each of them, and the efforts each made to please the other. Each became a better person because of the other, and ideally, that’s how every relationship should be.

4 star review The Billionaire’s Secret by L.Steele

AUDIO REVIEW:

L. Steele is a relatively new author to me as was narrator Faye Adele, although I have listened to numerous books narrated by Shane East whom I could listen to all day, every day. This is Saint Jordan Killian Caldwell and Victoria (Gigi) ‘s story and it was a story that held my attention and which I was drawn into.
From the moment they met, the sparks flew and the chemistry between them sizzles as they struggle with the feelings that they bring out in one another. The banter between them at times is witty and the performance by both narrators was strong. Their voices blended well together and brought the story to life for me.
There were times that I really did not like how Saint treated Gigi (honestly I couldn’t understand how she tolerated it) and if he had done to me what he did to Gigi, I would have walked away.
The Billionaire’s Secret was filled with passion, heat and suspense and there were times that I was on the edge of my seat whilst listening.

I absolutely adore when a story surprises you, and that's what The Billionaire's Secret did.

Loved the dialogue, the characters, the chemistry!

OMG Victoria, the task Ms. Steele set for you! You need Saint; a means to your end! But, will you want more from Saint? Will Saint want more from you?

Loved this story and all it's hotness! Can't wait for more from this author!

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The Billionaire's Secret: Enemies to Lovers Fake Marriage Romance (Big Bad Billionaires Book 2) is excellently written and the writing style is exquisite and captivating. I absolutely love the riddles and they are difficult to figure out but so much fun trying. I love the humorous moments and the sweet ones too. Saint is the perfect alpha male you want to read about. Victoria is the queen of sass and very witty she makes the perfect leading lady and Saint's match. Off the charts chemistry with salacious moments between Saint and Victoria drenched through the pages. The world building aspect this author has created is intricately weaved with intriguing supporting character's who you want to know more about. I'm so excited to read the next novel in the series which is Weston and Amelie's story. I absolutely loved everything about this billionaire romance novel. A must read page turner novel.

I must say Saint is the first alphahole I truly love. The undertone of humor in this book along with the push and pull between the lead characters is awesome. An intervention in the men’s room will have you chuckling and a scene with strawberries will leave you never able to eat them without thinking about it. Highly recommend

Meet Saint the Dark Prince of all Alphaholes. His dark and twisty aura of control and sadism is on a whole other level. He is very difficult to like for a good portion of the book as he is so conflicted and unable to communicate. But as the story progressed and both Victoria and Saint began to open up they became a much more multilayered couple who I was rooting for.

This is quite a meaty book and not a quick read. It is quite a journey to take with Saint the rest of the Seven. It works as a standalone but I liked that some threads were carried over from previous books. Victoria is a strong and believable heroine and her dilemma is central to the story and the characters motivations. The chemistry between her and Saint leaps from the pages and is electric. It works beyond control and passion.

If you like your romance with a darker mafia tinted edge and strong elements of control and hints of BDSM then this is a great read. But be aware Saint is an alphahole to end all alphas

This book was a big disappointment for me. I had big hopes for Saint. I love a dominant male alphahole antihero as the male protagonist in a story. However, Saint didn’t deliver for me. He lacked heart and was not protective or possessive enough. Saint had no issue letting others view his woman’s body. He also seemed to lack intellect. I like my alpha holes to be really smart. Saint felt like the stereotypical beef cake who operated purely on impulse. I couldn’t get behind his thought process.

Jillian was a bore and also not very smart. She reminded me of the typical TSTL heroine. She would do really dumb things to put herself at risk—including with Saint. The pay off was never what she’d hoped. Yet, she never learned from it. This made it difficult to root for or even care about her when she consistently self sabotaged herself.

The sex scenes did not work for me. SPOILER: Several times Saint performed anal on her then went to vaginal sex. That is a big noooooooo. I can’t get into the steam when I know you’re asking for an infection! I did like the frequency and acts in the sex scenes. But because there was no genuinely felt connection between them, I couldn’t completely engage with it. I never felt any real intimacy between the two characters. The scenes were plentiful but very short. I prefer lengthier sex scenes with more passion. These two struck me more as a series of quick hit and quit it moments between two people who cared nothing for one another. Their “love”was just not believable.

The story felt stilted to me. There was not enough plot or character development. The author also used a plot device that I hate: Miscommunication. It is ridiculous that this device is used in novels with adult main characters. It’s appropriate for YA, but not in a book like this. I can enjoy a sex romp. But when a book tries to be more than that, it needs to deliver. This one did not.

Saint and Virginia

This was not at all what I expected. I expected a love story and basically got a hate story and found myself truly disappointed. After the stunt in the first book of the heroine walking in on Sin getting a blowjob from some nameless woman, I really didn’t expect to find the same thing in the second book of the series. It was disgusting enough that it was purposely done in the first book, to have it done again was unnecessary.

The idea that these two people could actually fall in love with each other with the way they treated each other is absolutely mind boggling. Lust at first sight happened in the 1st book, and didn’t let up, but whatever hate and lust equals is where this book went. I realize that Saint had a horrible childhood, but that didn’t even seem to be what stood in between the two of them. I honestly can’t say why they actually got together.

I truly looked forward to Saint’s book. I hesitate to say that about the rest of the series now. We’ll see. Amelie’s book is next. She’s happy and effervescent. I sincerely hope that she’s not treated in any way like the heroine in this book...although I hesitate to call Victoria a heroine. I’m not sure I ever even liked her that much.

I love rom-coms and I am definitely not a prude. I love the hot and heavy content as much as the next person but even for me these books surpassed expectation, in the most turn me green and heave in disgust kind of way. I made it three books into the series before I gave up and decided that they just weren't for me. I can see that a lot of people really enjoyed these books, and I am not about it dis their enjoyment of it. It is the usual case of someone will enjoy it while someone else won't. I fell into the latter category. The actual plot and story I did find interesting, and I wanted to know more about the sevens past and why the hell they acted like the most chauvinist assholes to ever grace the page. (Probably not true, there are plenty of assholes in books but for me these guys really take the cake.)

I thought the male leads were overbearing, disrespectful, and just downright appalling in their behavior. Behavior that never seemed to cease and their actions, not even the sexual ones could bring the characters out of the 'I hate you' box I had stored them in (which again, each to their own.) They really seemed to believe that their man downstairs was apparently every womans dream to choke down. Some of the sexual situations made me incredibly uncomfortable because they were so freaking weird. (Well weird to me - all the power to you if that is what you like) Now this might be a personal preference coming into it here, but I feel like I am sitting in shock, while thinking, fuck do people really want to stuff pie up their ass for a good time? (Actual pie - apple pie to be precise)

The Billionaire's Christmas Bride (Big Bad Billionaires, #3) has really ruined fruit for me, I hope that I can remove those images from my mind as soon as possible because while, (again each to their own) that sure as hell doesn't personally get my blood pumping. And the pie. The fucking pie, that went from worse to fucking horrifying. I don't know how the heroine didn't spend her time throwing up after that. And I am very surprised that these characters don't spend more time with infections.

Honestly, I am not sure I can even find any positives past the what the fuck just happened that seems to be rolling around in my mind. I don't even know how I managed to finish the third book; I didn't love how the lead male was treating his lady, and it got fucking weird. Wine bottles too, those are going to get some odd stares for a while. 'Dry-heaves'

I don't think that you shouldn't give it a go if you are curious about it because I do think that just because this is how I feel about it, it doesn't mean that is how you are going to feel about it.

L. Steele has written another fantastic story of people you love to hate. In her previous story Saint was determined that he was going to target Victoria when he met her at Sinclair’s and Summer’s wedding. The fireworks that are set off between these two is enough to start a show all on its own.

The passion and drama that occurs in this book will leave you soaking wet and hanging out for more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Even though they find their happily ever after, the path to their happiness is full of bumps and potholes on the road in their personal journeys. You won’t regret reading this story. Of course it leads onto the next book in the series, you just absolutely have to get as well.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.

Saint is a force to be reckoned with and he has met his match in Victoria who is ready to bring Saint to his knees, but not if he gets her there first. Oh what a wicked web gets weaved as Saint tries to unravel the many secrets that Victoria is hiding as she tries to get close to get the information she needs. Like a moth to a flame, Victoria just can’t keep away from Saint even as he keeps bringing her closer to shattering her resolve as he gets her to bare more of her soul with each encounter. But even the mighty Saint has a weakness and as Victoria gets further under his skin, Saint will have to use every ounce of his brilliance and cunning to pull off the plan to not only save Victoria, but the future he never knew he wanted. Every story just seems to surpass the last as we get pulled in deeper with the seven and I can’t wait to read the next book for Weston’s story.

I received an ARC of this book via Book Sprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

HOT doesn't begin to describe

With the exception that Victoria faints too often, this was an incredible read! PTSD isn't to be taken lightly. We often associate it with the military, but can happen to anyone who has been traumatized. Both Saint and Victoria have been through their nightmare, yet couldn't be more suited for each other despite it. Saint follows Sin in the series. Both try the fake marriage..... and yet are they? We are still looking for who started The 7's nightmare and pulled Victoria into it. Maybe Weston's story will reveal more? The intimacy scenes are HOT! some S&M scenes may not be your cup of tea, yet it works for them and weren't too over the top. No cheating or cliffhanger and ends on a happy note. Enjoy 🤓

Audio book

Book 2 in the series. Laxi the author wrote a very detailed story with lots of engaging actions . The actions are captivating and you can’t and won’t want to put it down till the end .
Hero is Saint . Heroine is Victoria. Little by little you see how perfect Saint and Victoria are together. They try to fight the attraction that they have together even though they fight it. This story has everything, love , funny moments and lots of layers

Shane East, Faye Adele Performance was fantastic. They outdid themselves. You were able to get right into the story by their tone.

This is the 2nd book in this series and is Saint and Victoria’s story. Saint is a controlling and domineering billionaire, and when he meets Victoria, he knows who she is and why she is there, but he is not worried. Victoria / Gigi and Saint are both broken souls underneath, but together they complete each other, as Victoria grows as a person, and Saint redeems himself to be a caring and protective alpha, who will do whatever he had to in order to protect her and keep her safe. This is a well written story which had me totally enthralled throughout this riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

I loved it...loved everything about it!! This book hooked me from the very first page and had me riveted until the very last. Saint is the perfect alpha ahole, he’s dominating, controlling, and when he meets Victoria (Gigi) she blows his world apart. Victoria is sassy, witty, and must get close to Saint because of the hold the mafia has on her. These two characters have chemistry that sizzles and I loved watching their story develop. This book has a bit of everything. There were twists and turns, drama, angst, and times where emotions ran high. A definite must read and one I highly recommend.
