I don't want to settle down with some Alpha-born pup my father chooses. As the firstborn daughter to an Alpha, I know my life goal should be becoming a Luna and birthing new Alphas, but all I want is to join the Werewolf Guard. I want to kick some evil supernatural ass and protect the people I love, not create the next generation of entitled little Alpha pups.
Things get even more complicated for me after a chance encounter with the mysterious Will Hunter. But no matter how exciting he is, Will is totally, completely off-limits. Any relationship between us is forbidden.
After all, Will isn't just tall, dark and handsome - he's a freaking vampire. My kind's greatest enemy. Giving in to the attraction would betray my pack and lead to banishment… or worse. Maybe even war.
But when he takes the life of one of his own to save mine, it gets harder and harder to RESIST his charm…
Of-freaking-course I had to find the only Alpha male my father will never approve of. And it’s just a matter of time before he finds out…
Readers of Twilight and Vampire Diaries will love this series.
This Series can be enjoyed with or without the Luna Rising Series but it takes place in the Luna Rising Universe.
I enjoyed this book for the most part. Although I felt a bit let down by the blurb. Will doesn’t appear until nearly the halfway point. And apart from curiosity I felt no real attraction or pull between these two. Also the blurb tells us more about him than the book does which was strange.
I liked the world that’s been created and I loved Skye and Cyrus. If I’m being honest I was way more interested in their story than I was in Elinor’s.
Elinor was okay. I found her a bit immature at times but I’m sure that’s done to show growth and she’ll be better as the series progresses.
I’m curious about Will so I’m going to read the next book and see how it goes.
I really really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading all of the books but I don't want to touch anything until I find out what order I should red everything in. When it comes to things like this reading them out of order will drive me completely insane
Sara Snow’s „The Awakening“ marks the start to the new “Bloodmoon Wars” series, which relates events that will (after the series) eventually lead to Ruby’s story (the FMC of her previous “Luna Rising Series”). Despite being a prequel of sorts, “The Awakening” can be perfectly be enjoyed as a stand-alone series, or even better at any point before or after the ‘Luna Rising Series’, because – seriously - why would someone even want to miss the opportunity to enjoy Ruby’s story 😊
Elinor is the first-born of Alpha Grayson, the leader of the Bloodmoon Pack, and as such destined to mate one of her father proposed males and birth powerful werewolves for the pack, to be a Luna, because females according to the Werewolf Council cannot become Alphas. Elinor, however, has not interest at all in that path, she has decided to become a Guardian, and make a reputation as a warrior, instead of being known as the “mother” of her children.
“The Awakening” is a well-written book, with relatable characters, an interesting story-arc, and new twists around the werewolf myth and the proverbial werewolf/vampire feud. Sara Snow possess as fluid and funny written style that helps the characters come alive in every page captivating the reader with likeable characters, interesting settings and a very good paced action. All in one a great addiction to the Luna Rising world, with an easy to follow plot, even for newcomers that are not yet, acquainted to the previous series.
Fantastic! Set way before Luna Rising series, Elinor is the daughter of the alpha destined to be a Luna for her mate (although is this what she wishes for?) who has a chance meeting with a vampire. Elinor is such a strong character with some awesome friends - her feelings for Will are just beginning I think and I cannot wait to see how these 2 progress over this series. Some brilliant writing with an interesting plot.
An alpha first born, but as a female she's not allowed. Even though she is capable and could be in the wolf guards. Her father continually throws first born alpha males at her to see if they are her mate. Since she has not found a mate, now her father has arranged a marriage for her.
Another brand new author to me so I didn't really have any expectations and ended up listening to most of this in audio. The narrator did a good job and I didn't have any issues with the narration. It says that this is the prequel to another series- The Luna something or other series - that I have not read but that didn't take away from anything while I was listening to this book.
This is a shifter story that revolves around a female wolf - the first born daughter of an Alpha. This story is different from typical shifter cannon in that in this story, apparently female Alpha firstborns can only grow up to become Lunas (which is an Alpha's wife) in order to bear stronger children. That's a bummer. Also, this is the first story that I've ever read when wolves can NOT go out or shift on a full moon. They can not shift at all on a full moon. Interesting.
The story revolves around the fact that the she wolf's Alpha father keeps trying to find her mate to get her married off while the daughter in question wants nothing to do with his plan for her life. It becomes apparent that there is more going on in the world (supernatural killings and such)that the dad is trying to keep from the daughter. She then meets a vampire, and it becomes a case of forbidden attraction.
The story, while fairly easy to listen to, seems pretty superficial. Even though some of the specifics are different, the trope itself is pretty common place. But, even with that being said, there are some interesting differences that are like seeds thrown out that we can wait to what happens with them. There are her best friends - an wolf and an incubus - who apparently are attracted to each other (another forbidden relationship). There is her incubus friend, who happens to be the son of the Demon King and the demon Lust. THAT is going to be something to follow.
So, there is a lot of potential in this series. Unfortunately, there is only the first book out on Audible so I might wait awhile to tackle book 2. We'll see......
This is the first book I ever read on my kindle that my mum just gifted me yesterday. At first I really liked it. (I have a habit of imagining my favorite singers/actors into the story instead how the characters are described, which might have contributed as to why I liked it so much in the beginning) Soon enough though I was able to realize that this was your typical 'I am not like other girls' story. I was able to read through the story pretty easily until I was about 80% done when Elainor (or how ever the main girl is called), met up will Will who just tried to protect her and she went on about how she is SO STRONG AND DOESN'T NEED ANYONE TO PROTECT HER about 5-6 times when Will saved her from dying just a few chapters before (💀). I also fond it hard to take the problem between her and her dad serious. The author makes the main girl out to be smart and own willed, if that is the case then the most natural way to have hone about it would have been to actually really make her run away and not return, where she then meets will but oh well that's just how it is I guess. The writing was easy and very pleasent to read (I read the german translation) but I won't continue reading the series :/.

I'm writing this review after having read the whole series and have pasted this to each book in the series.
Generally I really enjoyed this series. There is a lot of action within the scenes and some interesting tropes. You've got your enemies to lovers as well as your friends to lovers. More aimed at NA the romance in here doesnt get protrayed past kissing, however narrates relationships that share beds.
I read once this had a twilight vibe to it and whilst it does.. old vampire, young woman vibe it doesn't really have that much else in common. Firstly I didnt get annoyed by the characters like I did in Twilight. Secondly this didn't have as much cheese in it, thank God. The overal plot is written fairly well and you get a good couple twists to it. It does end on a HEA although not one where everyone is completely in the place they should be for a true HEA. Overal a really good read I'd highly recommend to any NA or YA or anyone that gets sick of explicit intimacy descriptions.
Ok read, I think the hardest thing for me was waiting for this vampire to show up, and yet we don't get to him until after 40% and yet that's super vague. And finally when we get to anything juicy the book is over? I am intrigued by the vampire, yet I don't really feel the connection between these two, there is a ton going on, so what ever this suppose connection is supposed to be its kinda more of background noise. I think we got more of a relationship and more information about her best friends kindling love then what the intro painted us? I'm not sure if I'll read on.
2.5 stars Some things about Elinor and her Father hit a little too close to home. If I were her I would have left. Hell if I was healthy, I would have left by now.
I wish Elinor had a bit more fire. She holds back too much. This was also very very vague on the time period. I believe it's supposed to be an entirely different "Earth" true fantasy land. And in medieval like times. With things like, Corsets and cloaks and markets. But it took my way longer than I would like to admit to realize it wasn't modern times.
The Awakening, book 1 of the Bloodmoon Wars series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited.
Loved the depth of the world-building and the play of paranormal politics that shapes this marvelous storyline. I loved the characters and the relationships between each of the character-- from family dynamics and traditions to potential romances. I'll be checking out other series by this author.
Note: ends in a cliffhanger and next book resumes from the leave-off point.
Excellent read. Filled with action, twist and forbidden love. Wonderfully enchanted story with a enamoured world building and strong willed characters that are endearing. The book captures you and holds you to the end and more I am fully intend to read the next book as it ends on a cliff. A great start to a young adult series with promising future reads. Totally recommended.
I Ike the story but hate that it's a series instead of a complete book. I like the characters and the fact that her father let's an male who is not a wolf be part of the Guard but expects his daughter do nothing but marry who he tells her to. That sucks.
Great word usage, story line was too slow or fast paced, loved the complexity of the characters. Most in the main characters point of view but goes to others, and I it was so well written I didn’t want to skim and skip through the other perspectives. Five star book for sure, can’t wait to start reading the second one later today.
Started slow and then I started to enjoy the characters and their challenges. I found it got better and better....until the cliffhanger! Now I need to go read book 2...
An absolutely delightful story, set in the Luna Rising universe. A forbidden romance between a she-wolf and a vampire, full of mystery and intrigue. If you liked Luna Rising, then this is a must read.
Inesperadamente buena. Me gustó el universo creado por esta autora. Aunque no se dio grandes detalles me llamó mucho la atención y es prometedora. Me encantaron los protagonistas y los diferentes puntos de vista. Queda mucho por descubrir y espero leer el próximo.
Although for me it started a bit slow, this story turn out great !! I love the inclusion of of the supernatural characters!! The fact that not only the main characters grew but all the characters did was amazing. Sara Sow is building a wonderful world!!!
This world of supernatural is interesting and the plight of the main character is sympathetic. The two supporting characters are interesting, too. The book ends on a cliffhanger for sure.
4 starts because it kinda dragged on a little. It’s a good story, although the way Elinor just gives in has me cringing. She’s strong, independent and alpha material. But she bows down without fight. That’s problematic.
I am really starting to like this author and her stories. If you like a fast pace romance with action then give this author a try. Get her books and leave your reviews.
Omg...I fell so deeply for this book. Usually I hate trying to keep up with so many characters individual story but this one was so easy to follow. So easy to get caught up in each of their lives. I didn't want it to end. Must find book 2
