Chloe's Pirates & Petticoats series is now available in a sweet, clean and wholesome version called The Hearts of Adventure!

Chloe supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation
Chloe Flowers is an award-winning author, the recipient of the University of Akron, Wayne College 2018 Writer of the Year Award, and writes small town contemporary women’s fiction, and historical women’s action and adventure romance novels about scoundrels, pirates, and spunky, independent heroines.

Chloe’s constantly looking for the next adventure. Her pets have always been named after her favorite characters or action heroes: Indiana, Luke, Gimli, Thelma, Rocket, Forrest, Al Giordino, Severus, Mushu, Mérida, Gibbs, Jack…Dead Pool (he’s a goldfish).

Chloe’s biggest fault is the apparent inability to say “no” whether it’s in response to a call for aid or a double-dog-dare to hike home through 30 acres of a snow-covered forest at midnight…during a full moon. It was early morning during said adventure when she came upon a group of sheriff’s deputies searching for a lost girl. So, of course she offered to help (turns out, they were searching for her).

She has a weakness for good red wine, Calvin & Hobbes comics, pie, dark chocolate and brown-eyed guys with beards, which is probably why she digs pirates, men in uniform and treasure hunters and writes about action and adventure and of course romance, which is the greatest adventure of all.

The second part of Hart and Keelan’s saga was every bit as good as the first…if not better. There were chases and abductions, an underground railroad, andKeelan was the target of nasty family members and men who wanted her because they thought her an heiress . For a time Keelan even had to disguise herself so as to escape the clutches of the bad guys. BUT! The love between Keelan and Hart continued to grow amidst all of the turmoil and danger and the fast paced action in this part two kept me glued to my Kindle until I had finished it in two nights of reading. I was feeling breathless at the end of this part two, and looking forward to part three to see if Keelan and Hart reached a happy ever after. In fact, I couldn’t wait and read the first two chapters of part three of this saga before I turned off my bedside light.

Old South, Mystery, Smuggling, Pirates and Romance!

Keegan Grey, if that is who she really is, is not your typical Southern Belle, nor does she aspire to be. Drawn to swashbuckling, Captain Landon Hart she struggles with trust and desire for independence and love. This was nearly impossible to put down. I rated it a 4 and not a 5 because of the distracting errors found in the book. Spell check does not correct grammatical errors but there must be other software these days that does. Nothing, however, replaces good editing!

A Brilliant book filled with adventure, LOADS of humour and titillating romance! This is the 2nd book of the series., but you can read it as a stand alone, though you’ll enjoy it FAR more if you’ve read book 1. Keelan is a wanted women who has to fee her hometown. To make matters worse she’s not entirely sure if the man she loves, the dashing and handsome Landon, returns her feelings. What follows is her adventure that is riveting and has you turning the pages of your book till the wee hours of the morning!

Hart's Passion by Chloe Flowers is book Two in the "Pirates & Petticoats" series.
I haven't yet read the previous book and I do feel that you should before reading this one. I was able to keep up with the story but did feel that to understand their story more it would have help to read that one. Also this book was first released around 2016 but has been updated with a new cover (which I liked).
Overall I found this book to be a exciting read!.

Where the heck have I been, that I did not find these books.
Oh My God this set of books is amazing. If I had not got an
e-mail telling me about them, I would have missed some
great books. These books are well written, well thought out,
and full of twist and turn that make for one hell of a read.

If you have not read book one yet you may not want to read
this review as it has a few spoilers.

Now as I said this is book two, and man what a read, these
books just keep getting better. My hubby however is not too
fond of them though. As I cannot seem to put them down
when I have a spare moment. I went as far as taking them
with me in the car. I even sat in the car while he did the
grocery shopping.

This first book leaves off with Keelan agreeing to marry
Landon, but before they can run away her father tells her
a great secret. She is not his daughter. But he has left her
with this knowledge of where to find her true family. Only
after doing so he passes away. But also leaving questions
in Keelan’s mind, did he die of an illness? or was it murder?
And when you find out the truth all the pieces and clues
throughout the book will all make sense. After her father’s
funnel she rushes to pack and meet Landon. But the crazy
doc is there to ruin things again, which has her uncle locking
her in her room. But she has a plan to escape, unfortunately
that too goes wrong when she is taken by pirates. And what
happens while as their captives will shock you. Will Landon
get there in time to save her? Or will she have to save him.

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too.

Second installment in the Pirates and Petticoats series.
A bit of a spoilers ahead ~~~ The first book ended in a cliffhanger so you must read the first one in order to fully enjoy this one
As Hart and Rachel head out to escape her uncle and a marriage she doesn't want, she's kidnapped. While trying to escape she kills a man that warrants revenge from another evil man. Now they are not only trying to protect her freedom but also her life.
I liked the plot of this story but unfortunately I could not put up with the heroine's indecisiveness what with one minute was willing to go with Hart the next she was sure he was only going to take advantage of her virtue because he was a man of the sea. There was a moment when that was particularly annoying when she thought he had gone without her and she was regretting not letting him know how much she loved him and not trusting him. Then they meet again (in the middle of a terrible fight where people may be dying) and she started doubting his love again. And this goes on for the rest of the story. He loves me, he loves me not... I trust him, I trust him not... It was overly tiresome to say the least. The story dragged on because of this and I just couldn't fully appreciate it because of so much telling and not enough showing when it came to characters feelings.
2 stars.

Even though I hadn't read the first book in the series, I had no trouble finding my way through this one. Even though set in the past, its themes of true love at all cost, loyalty and trust are timeless. The love affair between Keelan and Landon feels so real, you care for them both. What makes the stakes higher in this story and in this time frame is that they will risk their lives for their love, quite literally. The plot moves along at such a breakneck speed, it's not only the lovers that feel breathless.

Action. Adventure. Pirates. Kidnappings. Revenge. Secrets. Truth. Even with the possibility of having forever together Keelan wanted to know who she really was. With her elopement upcoming, things do not go quite as planned. Some pirates have plans to make things much more difficult for them to pull off. Keelan being who she was did not find it beneficial to be overly cooperative. Landon wanting to protect her may lose more than just his future.

The action here picks up and runs with it. There was a up beat pace that kept going all the way through to the end.

I must admit I did not read the first book in this series. I wish I did. It took some time for me to really even realize there was a part 1. I won this on Good Reads not knowing. Even knowing that that I enjoyed the book. Of course not I have to go out of order and get the first part and the third part and piece them all together. HA I loved the story line and the flow of the book. All I can say is start at the beginning and read them all through the right way!!

The author has again captured my attention with this riveting story about Sea Captains, pirates, theft, murder, and secret identities. Chloe Flowers has clearly done her research as the story feels like you are immersed in post-colonial America with great dialogue, and old world problems. The story has a satisfying conclusion and a cliffhanger, leaving me dying to know what happens!

Publisher's Description:

Keelan Grey is running away from an arranged marriage and Captain Landon Hart doesn’t know it yet, but she’s just been hired as the new cook’s helper on his ship.

When pirates kidnap her first, the fiery vixen ends up neck-deep in trouble. To make matters worse, if certain people find out what Landon’s smuggling in the walls of his hold, all hell will break loose.

Keelan is forced to act a charade and soon her life depends on her playing the part. A deathbed confession from a loved one has plunged her into a dark plot of deception and revenge. She must rely both on her wits and skill with a blade to survive.

One thing is certain; the pirates suspect she’s hidden aboard Landon's ship, and it’s not long before their schooner is spotted on the horizon.

My Thoughts:

This is the second book in this serial type series. Unlike many series, this one needs to be read in order. Otherwise you just don't get the necessary background and fail to enjoy it to it's fullest.
I did read the first book and although there were some problems with the formatting, this problem did not carry over to this book.
This one is well written and although we have another cliff hanger ending, this time I know there is more to come in the third and final book in this series.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 2.5 of 5.0 flames. There is only a hint of an intimate involvement although the cover is sexy the book doesn't contain a great deal of intimacy.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the Author/Publisher via NetGalley.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
