Tender Love: A Christian Romance (The True Love Series Book 1) by Juliette Duncan is a tender romance story while being a powerful story of faith as well. Tessa Scott has recently ended a five-year relationship with Michael and is struggling to move on. Ben Williams is a divorced father of a thirteen-year-old, and is still struggling with bitterness, hurt and confusion after his wife unexpectedly left them both for another man. A year later, she divorced him and left him to raise their son, Jayden, alone. When Tessa and Ben meet at a puppy training class, they are both attracted to one another, surprising them both. Over the next few months, they reluctantly take the steps to trust again and begin spending more time together. The most important thing for both of these wounded people is to make sure that God is in whatever they do. Neither wants to endure more heartache. After a few bumps along the way, a lot of praying and seeking God, they both agree to pursue a relationship that, if all goes well, will lead to marriage.

Juliette Duncan has developed a charming romance with well defined and detailed characters that take us on a journey from broken hearts, to seeking God's peace and direction, to finding their way through their respective heartaches. God's strength, guidance, and healing are of paramount importance to the characters and the story. Juliette Duncan reminds us of truths that we often overlook or ignore, and inspires us all to be more committed in our own walk with the Lord. Juliette Duncan has a beautiful way of telling her story, drawing you into the characters' plights and allowing you to learn along with them as they find their way through. This is a delightful and inspiring first book in the True Love Series and you will definitely want to read the books that follow. The second book in the series is Tested Love and continues the story of Tessa and Ben.

Not my cup of tea. She likes him, he turns away. He likes her, she puts him off. Father is dead set against his daughter in a relationship with a divorced man, and come to find out, his own wife was divorced before she married him.
What a hypocrite! I quit.

The pacing was fast and the character development was good. Some of the plot was fairly predictable, but it was a feel-good read with some authentic human struggles as well. I enjoyed the central themes of faith and second chances.

Tender Love

Wow! The readers will be in for a journey with this couple in the coming books in the series. I like and love Ben and Tessa, I definitely want more of them. I could go on and on about so many things that happen in this story. The characters were believable, the issues real and the emotions they were going through were on point. The conversation that Tessa had with Pastor Stanek about relationships and marriage and the conversation that she had with her parents about divorce were very profound. I especially love when Pastor Stanek said "Regardless of what interests you may share, keep Christ at the centre of all you do, and ground yourself in His Word. Make sure that the one you run after is running after God. And pray, Tessa. Pray for God to prepare you for your husband. Pray for God to prepare you to handle all the joys, tears, heartache and commitment that go into making a godly marriage.”

I want to applaud Juliette for taking on the issue of marriage and divorce. Marriage can be hard and messy, but if we are willing to surrender our marriages to God it can be a beautiful thing. I know that every marriage won't last, but as I was reading Tender Love, I realized that most marriages end due to someone's selfishness. Either someone is a slave to their addiction, a slave to their abuse a slave to their affair or a slave to other things that they are not willing to give up. Do I think marriages can be restored from the above mentioned things, yes, I do. Just like Tessa's father said, God hates divorce. So, it is the person who develops a hard heart and refuses to surrender to God that makes marriage impossible to restore at times. It's not because God wants you to divorce, it's because people want to divorce. I say all of this because the marriage and divorce discussions in this book were amazing and it is something you don't see in most Christian fiction books. I highly recommend this book and while you are at it get her other books too, especially The Shadows Trilogy.

I have purchased the 10 book Australian based clean boxset titled The True Love and Precious Love Series Boxset: A Christian Romance by Juliette Duncan and this review was given freely.
The 10 part saga of the Williams family touches on many serious topics that challenge ones faith and health but also provides a picture of the growth, love and comfort that can be found when walking with God. Vivid descriptions are interwoven between heartfelt prayers, family drama and portions of scripture. Includes the titles Tender Love,Tested Love,Tormented Love,Triumphant Love, Forever Cherished,Forever Faithful,Forever His,Unchained,True Love at Christmas,Promises of Love, and A Time to Treasure: Prologue

**Tender Love:
A little ironic. By a twist of fate, Tessa's counselor roommate Stephanie and two puppies bring veterinarian Tessa Scott and recently divorced single father and accountant Ben Williams together. Contains the serious topics of depression, substance abuse, breaching patient confidentiality and abandonment which are tempered by a strong faith in God.

**Tested Love:
The continued saga of the Williams family is a tense one filled with the sad undercurrents of jealousy, miscarriage, suicide, injuries and Jayden's secret relationship with his mother Kathryn in Florida, USA.
Newly weds Tessa and Ben Williams struggle with adjusting to each, a new home,a new church family, a new job and mercurial 14 year old Jayden who is testing the waters to learn his place in the new family while struggling with the loss of his old schedule and security.

**Tormented Love:
This installment of the Williams family saga is transcontinental and features a "the grass is not always greener"undertone complicated by peer pressure and both drug and physical abuse but ending on a hopeful note.
Tessa and Ben join her brother Elliot on a mission trip to Ecuador in hopes of reconnecting in both Faith and love while distracting themselves concerning Jayden's cutting all contact and going to live with his needy and superficial mother Katryn in the USA.

**Triumphant Love:
This final prayer filled complex sequel of the Williams saga features the serious topics of the trials of an unplanned single teen pregnancy, Tessa's pregnancy scare, substance abuse, murder, the threat of Jayden's deportation and touches on elder memory loss but is balanced by a renewal of Faith, the loving aide of two wonderful Christian families and a happy Williams family reunion.
After being gone for a year, Montana resident Jayden finds both his Faith in God and love for Angie Morgan deepening, his homesickness for his father and Tessa growing, and his sense of obligation to his abused mother lessening.

**Forever Cherished:
A touch of irony with a fair amount of drama. This prayer filled sequel features the trials and rewards of a new baby, the beginnings of the Williams family's Misty Morn Christian retreat where Tessa helps her first lodger, depression and suicide troubled Leah Maloney, find Leah's first love and child, relates Tessa's father's progressing dementia and provides an event filled father-son camping trip for Ben and Jayden.

**Forever Faithful:
A second chance at love story where bad things happen to good people but ultimately ends happily with a wedding for the Williams family.
After college veterinary student and Christian youth group leader Jayden is assaulted and receives a life threatening injury from 19 year old Troy Barrett whose drink was spiked, Angie flies to Australia to be by his side only to be followed by her controlling and jealous boyfriend Cole.

**Forever His:
A prayer filled sequel with a nice recap and the story of newlyweds Jayden and Angie Williams's adjustment to each other as they travel and witness. Contains picturesque descriptions of the places and the people Jayden and Angie see during their year long honeymoon trip around the world but also contains Ben and Angie struggles over how to take care of her aging parents and how Ben's boss Brad being investigated for embezzlement will affect them.

**Unchained:
A poignant companion novel to the Williams family saga starting the day well to do stay at home mom Sally Richardson finds out she is penniless because of her accountant husband Brad's gambling addiction and embezzling. This is a prayer filled novella depicting a family's struggle with addiction, communication and self image as they build a closer relationship with both God and each other.
Can be read as a standalone but best if read in sequence.

**True Love at Christmas:
Taking place around the time Tessa and Ben go on their first mission trip, this is a Christmas companion novel to the Williams family saga featuring the true meaning of Christmas, a reaffirmation of Faith, veterinarian Harrison Smith's romance with Zoe Taylor and, the Christmas surprise he and his siblings give their parents.

**Promises of Love:
An emotion packed continuation of True Love at Christmas laced heavily with the theme of loss but ends happily. Promises of Love finds the newly engaged Zoe Taylor and Harrison Smith spending Christmas day with Zoe's extended family and her financially struggling parents, Harrison hoping for a short engagement while Zoe is torn trying to figure out how to make everyone happy while dealing with doubts concerning her relationship with the no-Christian Harrison, her grandmother's sudden illness and with the sudden return of her high school boyfriend Spencer.

**A Time to Treasure: Prologue: Not read

I totally enjoyed this story of recovery, restoration, and renewal for Tessa and Ben. How painful each of their previous relationship break-up stories are. I was rooting for both of them as they attempted to get to know one another. And Jayden, Ben's son....can't fathom his pain. This story moves them along and gives an insight into just what they are made of and Who is in control. Highly recommend. I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A Solid Read

I enjoyed this book, but there were several areas that could have been better developed. The son's two crisises, for example. The last challenge with Jadyn seemed particularly rushed. And what parent would be thinking of romance at such a time? So, that was disappointing. I don't often read books set in contemporary times, but I appreciated the women in the book being professionals and having that enter into the story. Overall, well written.

I had a hard time getting into his book; I found the main character annoyingly hung up on her former beau, as well as mentioning that it was love at first sight after meeting someone else. Maybe it’s because I haven’t experienced similar situations myself, but I found the storyline implausible. I skimmed through the remainder of the story. It was also very religious and I couldn’t quite connect with that either, although I do appreciate faith in a storyline.

Tessa and Ben are sweet together.  Ben and his teenage son, Jayden, are still mourning the exit of his wife Kathryn from their lives.  She took off and divorced Ben without telling them why or where she went. Ben and Jayden are not handling this loss very well even a year and a half later. Tessa comes into their lives with her strong faith in God and lightens Ben's life.

Believable characters, well written and edited.

Good Christian fiction; could use a bit more humor and depth. Nice light summer read. Aussie terms may need explaining for American readers.

Truly awful

This was not a romantic story at all. At the most I would call this a chic lit story. The personal issues out shine anything else.

Tessa had to walk away from her relationship due to things just turned out really bad after am accident. She's decided that when the time is right God will bring the right man into her life. She's ends up bringing home Sparky who just happens to be exactly what she needed to distract her heart. When a chance encounter brings Ben into her life they have this instant spark. Together they embark on a sweet romance as they both heal from their pasts.

I love Tessa she's just the sweetest character she has a strong relationship with God which is part of her everyday life. I wasn't sure about Ben because he's got a lot of baggage but thanks to Tessa's best friend he's able to get the help he need to be open to a relationship with Tessa. I like that Tessa made the effort when it came to Ben's son Jaden.

This is a sweet christian romance I picked it up because I was reading Australian authors so this is my first book by the author. I haven't read a christian romance in a long time so I found this series refreshing the romance is sweet and the story is captivating. I enjoyed the author's writing style and devoured the book in one afternoon. I actually read the whole series one after another because I had to know what would happen next to Tessa and Ben.

Tender Love by Juliette Duncan is a gentle Christian romance but packed full of godly themes. You can buy it on its own or as part of the True Love box set. There are themes of forgiveness, faith and trust.
When life is hard, it is all too easy to blame God and walk away. We need to stay especially close to God in the tough times and lean on Him.
Prayer is important. We need to remember to thank God for His goodness as well as asking for things.
God is a God of healing - both physically and spiritually.
As believers it is important to go to church. Church is our family and where we go to praise God and to have our faith strengthened to face the week ahead.
The novel also has the theme of new beginnings. Some we choose and others are thrust upon us.
The novel shows how animals can be therapeutic. As we pour ourselves into our pets, we can forget our troubles for a while.
A sweet romance to kick off the series.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

This is such a wonderful book! What’s even better is the book is appropriate for all ages.

Tender Love is the first book in the True Love Series by Juliette Duncan. This is a Christian romance, and faith plays a large role in not only the lives of Ben and Tessa but also most of the other primary characters in the book.

This is the beginning of Ben and Tessa’s love story. Both have been hurt. Ben is a single father of a teenage son who is struggling to cope. It is through prayer and their faith in God that they find the strength to take a chance on love.

My heart overflowed with this book. At times I cried for the pain Ben and his son Jayden were experiencing. There were tears of joy and sadness. It was a nice change to see two characters rely so much on their faith and to turn to their pastors and God for guidance.

This book did truly touch my heart and left me feeling very positive and uplifted. I can hardly wait to see where Ben and Tessa’s journey goes next.

God sent!!

Oh my I have bin in long search for a Christian novel, I always said I'd read more if I found the right book. I bless God for Mrs.Juliette Duncan, this is a clear revelation of why one must walk in their divine purpose. I am able to enjoy this read without compromising my relationship to God, and its drawing me more to Him.
Interestingly, I stumble across this book after watching the movie "Love comes softly". I was trying to find the book for the movie and then this author appeared.

I believe God is doing a new thing, as I prepare for marriage, this book is also teaching me lessons about love & self-sacrifice. Don't expect a perfect relationship, but one that is committed to godly principles.
Am I so blessed.. Can't wait to read book 2!!!!

i loved the book Tender Love. In a time when all the romances are getting too sexy, kinky or whatever - I appreciate the fact that there
are still Christian authors who can present a gentle faithful love story to an audience greatly ignored .
Thank you for writing such a tender story about loss due to a cheating partner, a lonely lost son, and a woman who is seeking a
true love of her own. I appreciated how she handled the integrity of the questionable request of her roommate seeking to gain
information about the man and his circumstances. Again I thank you for writing something to hold on to.

True Love Series

I have really enjoyed reading this series. It's refreshing to have such an open confirmation of one's faith. Juliette Duncan, was able to incorporate Christian values into the charters lives. The story line included ways to deal with difficult life issues with Biblical principles, yet didn't feel preachy. The story lines are all real life issues with great characters. You'll enjoy reading this series!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I loved the characters of Tessa and Ben. They are realistic people with real and relatable struggles. So many Christian books make it seem that Christians have a perfect life with no struggles. This book follows Tessa and Ben as they deal with life and becoming a couple. Ben has a teenage son which complicates things. Loved this book but did not realize it was the first in a series.

This book HAD potential

I choose this book as a Christian book. It touched on that very lightly. To end the book the male main characters son overdose on the fathers depression meds. The father rushed to hospital, the son is resting from ordeal. Love inter est shows up with her mom and dad. The father leaves the son to go to a romantic dinner. The parents stay with the kid whom they have met twice. In what life do you leave your kids side and go enjoy yourself. Stupid ending.

Oh! HIPPA is there for a reason and this part of the story pained me! You can see where the conflict will occur and cringe waiting for it! An amazing story with wonderful characters. I really liked how we got more perspectives than just Tess and Ben’s. It made for a more intricate and well rounded story. I truly enjoyed it and am excited for the next book in this series.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
