Book Two in The Shadows Trilogy finds Lizzy in turmoil. Her heart aches for Daniel, who has yet to conquer his demons. As his downward spiral continues, Lizzy struggles to maintain her resolve and forage ahead on her own.
With so much working against her, the reality of having to return home to the manor only enhances her sorrows. Lizzy knows the only way to win back control over all that haunts her is to face that which she has avoided for far too long, even if that means unearthing the truth behind her breakup with the minister, Mathew Carter.
In order to continue her quest to move forward, Lizzy will have to draw strength from God and his healing touch, but only if her heart is ready to accept all that entails.
Two souls united by circumstance, divided by pain, must pull themselves from the depths of despair and embrace all that is waiting for them and welcome God's

This is book two about Lizzy and Daniel. Lizzy left Daniel due to his alcoholism and abuse towards her. This story shows how difficult alcoholism and abuse can be in a marriage, but with God all things are possible. I loved the way the author develops the characters and their faith. It's a courageous and inspiring story that I truly recommend. I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.
How can Daniel say he loves Lizzy and keep failing? Doing someone wrong, treating them badly, saying sorry, but then repeating the offense over and over again gets old. How long can Lizzy live this way? Is she sorry she jumped into this marriage? The author skillfully writes into this story the life of one with addictions and failures, but also includes the remedy in accepting God's salvation in Christ.
This is a heartbreaking story of having to deal with drinking and not being a Christian. Sometimes a person has to make choices. What a wonderful story of God's love in our lives. How he is their for all of us. All we have to do is except him as our Lord and Savior. When we ask for forgiveness he forgives. He worked in Daniel and Lizzie's life. I was given an ARC of this book and I highly recommend reading it.
It was a great read and you are right there feeling Lizzy and Daniel's struggles. You pray with them and pull for them. And you hope and pray with Lizzy for Daniel to find his own relationship with God. Brings back my own developing relationship with God. It is a life long pursuit that we are reminded of. Can't wait to start book three.
This is the 2nd book in this series - The Shadows Trilogy).
And it was just as amazing as the first book. This was a continuation of Daniel and Lizzy's story. It is a story of love, forgiveness and a love for the Lord. We also get to meet Dillon....
Can't wait to read the next book "Beyond the Shadows"
Once again we are pleased with the clean thoughtful writings of people in difficult situations. Once they place their trust in God, they are able to pick up the broken pieces of their lives and put themselves in the hands of a strong and loving God who works all things together for good!
A delightful read filled with sorrows, happiness and Biblical teachings as we follow Lizzy and Daniel through their marriage problems and their struggles to come to a resolution. Great friends like Nessa, Riley and Sal play an important part in their lives, and Lizzy's parents also become more involved.
The Shadows Trilogy from Juliette Duncan isva well-written clean romance based on Christian principles. It's a series lots of depth and faith building. The characters are true to life and you get to know them well. The story is a moving and captivating one which is engaging till the end. The only pity is that the series is finished.
Book 2 of TheShadowSeries, Lizzie and Daniel story go on: she is pregnant, full of hope of Jesus, he has a dark past and a present with alchool and violence problems. Who are stronger? With love of eache other and pray, can they solve their problems?
I am really enjoying this series, watching Daniel and Lizzy grow in their relationship, struggling through their demons. Life may not be rzsyr, but they are learning to trust each other and to trust God.
Very inspiring story. There is so much truth in this story. There are people in this world who are faced with these problems and could benefit from reading this series.
I've already read this story, I left a review at that time. I did enjoy this story of a Woman's struggles to make a life for herself, the authors way of dealing with her issue is quite interesting.
This was a good next installment in Lizzy and Daniel’s story. There were some hard choices to make and rocky roads to traverse. I’m interested to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Good depiction of the struggles of addiction and the effect it has on relationships. I appreciated the emphasis on the essential part that faith has in the healing and restoration of healthy life to a family.
This is the story of how a young man learns to love his wife and baby son as well as his Saviour the Lord while he is on the road t becoming a full true Christian. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This book was better than the first book but it still bogged down at times and there were even places that I skipped paragraphs that didn't seem to enhance the storyline.
Juliette Duncan has done it again! She is so good at having her characters face unbelievable trials that turn into beautiful miracles from God giving the reader faith that Romans 8:28 is true!
Loved the story. The characters are so real and but flawed, like most of us are. But by learning to trust God, they're able to overcome their obstacles.
Facing the Shadows is the follow up book to Lingering Shadows. Lizzy’s husband Daniel leaves Lizzy to wallow in his all too familiar painkiller, alcohol. Lizzy is forced to return home and finally deal with unresolved issues with her parents and the man she’d once loved. She struggles with patience and trust in God as she waits for Daniel to hit rock bottom. She needs to find a way to forgiveness with the people who wronged her and put her on a path to a collapsing marriage, and Daniel needs to face his sins and turn to the only way out of the grip of addiction. I found this a more powerful book as the author brings the reader into the very real struggles of humans to confront the truth of who we really are and learn the hard lessons of forgiveness. I found the progression and transformation believable and emotionally satisfying. I loved the resonance I felt with Lizzy as she tried to share what had been a private faith and her very real fear of not saying the right thing and messing it up. And I loved the line, “Who in their right mind would welcome suffering in their life?” when considering the verse that says when we are tested we should consider it joy. Anyone who has faced a trial and had to trust God can sympathize with Lizzy. The author has a great way with words to bring the reader into experiencing the story. “Worry over Daniel sat heavy in her stomach, leaving no room for food.” I knew instantly the desperation of the mind that goes along with that kind of heavy stomach. There’s nothing I didn’t like about the story and found it a satisfying answer to the crisis of Lingering Shadows. A good read!

When Daniel crosses the line in the sand Lizzy drew, she knew it was no longer safe for her to remain with him. I truly felt for Lizzy as she did what she needed to do to keep safe. This story is about love and forgivess. How Lizzy and Daniel go forward will leave you breathless as they work out what is happening and how they will handle what the future brings. A very powerful and powerfully written novel with developed and developing characters. Highly recommend. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a wonderful sequel to the first book in the series, Lingering Shadows. The story line picks back up with the conflict between Lizzy and Daniel because of his anger and problems with alcohol. The author once again pictures so accurately the damage these issues can cause in a marriage and the battles faced. She also beautifully shows the hope that is there and the reconciliation that can come because of God's love and forgiveness. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and it is another from this author that I definitely recommend.
This book picked up where the first left off. Daniel and lizzy... Trouble in paradise with Lizzy having to make a decision that would change the course of her future. Great book. So far both books have renewed my spirit for God. What a great job Juliette Duncan did of reminding me if just how good God is now and always. Looking forward to book 3 To see what the future holds for our beautiful couple!
I had to honor to review this wonderful book. Lizzy and Daniels story has there ups and downs. Watching the relationship between these two change is remarkable. You won't be able to stop reading this wonderful book. God is working on Daniel and it is amazing.
What a great story of forgiveness. Lizzy's determination to bring closure to her feelings about her old love was risky but proved right and confirmed her love for her husband. Her love for him and for God brings him to the Savior. Absolutely loved the book!
I'm loving this series. Elizabeth and Daniel's story is a journey into wholeness and healing; the prayers of Lizzy are beautiful and touching. I can't wait to read book 3
