A Knife, A Bloody Rag and a Family Secret

Together these three books tell the story of a the O'Connell family in crisis after a bloody knife and a family secret they'd thought buried for nearly two decades resurfaces and threatens their safety and their happiness. Encompassing bits of romance, mystery and family drama each book deals with a separate plot.
Hometown Hero presents the mystery of how a teenager ends up dead in a janitor's closet at the local high school.
Justice continues with the fallout from the death and teenage drug abuse that is the theme of the previous novel, but introduces a new wrinkle in the efforts of one family member to adopt a young girl.
Through both of these stories, the story of the bloody knife and the disappearance of the family patriarch years older presents a mystery and a dark cloud that slowly builds up over the family and finally explodes in the third novel. In Family Secret. the discovery of a decomposing body whose death dates back to the time of the senior O'Connell's mysterious disappearance causes locals and law enforcement to make assumptions and leads to accusations and arrests.
There's plenty of mystery, the kind of intrigue and drama only a family with 6 grown siblings and a small town where everybody knows everybody else's business can generate, and a whole series of romances and relationship challenges.
All in all, it's an interesting story, conveniently collected in a single volume which I loved.
Well worth your time.

a piece of the puzzle x3

THE HOMETOWN HERO (The O'Connells, #7) ... My introduction to this family was interesting. I was sort of thrown in and wanting to know so much more. I felt as if I was missing something with this first of the series that I began with. There were six other books in the series before this that may or maynot hold answer to questions that I am looking for. Owen was the big brother of a family that lost so much. Then on top of all that this family had been through there was a secret Owen was guarding.

This was not a long listen but it was a key portion of the mystery behind the disappearance of a key figure in Owen's life. Then he has a rival come back into his life and noses going in places they should not. Mystery surrounds this family and someone knows a bit too much.

Thank you to John Mo. My introduction to your narration style was enjoyable.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Entertaining Unpredictable Easy-to-read Bread crumbs Family oriented Emotional support Family Intrigue

JUSTICE (The O'Connells, #8) . . . There was more revealed with this short installment in the O'Connells series. Someone is poking the O'Connells. Someone knows more than any of them would have suspected. Marcus has a lot to deal with in this short catch-up to what's going on in the O'Connells clan at this point.

I found something soothing with John's voice. I felt like a friend was talking to me. A friend was there telling me a story that felt like reality.

**I have to come clean and state that I do not listen to any audiobook at regular speed. All audio has been 2 - 3 times the normal speeds for me to keep up and stay engaged.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Entertaining Easy-to-read Family oriented Family intrigue

FAMILY SECRET (The O'Connells, #9) . . . Have we finally got to the secret of the O'Connells'. What more could we find out about this family? Where are all these secrets going to leave the O'Connells in the end? What are the next steps? Who will be the first to make them? Raymond O'Connells. Where has he been for eighteen years? Why did he leave his family? Why now?

I am giving you nothing. I am telling you that you will need to jump right in and see for yourself what, when, why, and how the O'Connells family secret comes to light and was dark in the first place.

This time around John is joined by Eileen Smith. Together they bring light to the mystery of Raymond O'Connells and the event from eighteen years ago. With the words from lorhainne Eckhart the story unwinds and fills you mind with all the images as the words flow from our narrators.

Now this is just my observation and opinion, but I highly suggest that you start from the very beginning of this series and follow it all the way through to the end. You get so much more out of the story if you know it all.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Twisted Entertaining Easy-to-read Unpredictable Family oriented Emotional support Family Intrigue
