Not All Injuries Heal True

Wu Ying saved his master from the machinations of the dark sect, but was gravely injured during the process. His body has changed, his bloodline awakened and his cultivation compromised. Physicians and healers at the Verdant Green Water can do nothing for him.

Forced to travel to a new sect for healing, Wu Ying might find opportunity in his distress. But the dark sect is not done with him, or their machinations. Caught up in the winds of war, Wu Ying and his friends must continue to balance their journey to immortality against the pull of mortal politics.

This book is a finalist for the Kindle UK Storyteller 2021.

Slower than the first 4 but is a good transition

A Thousand Li is one of the 3 series I pre-order and get when they come out and Tao Wong's writing keeps getting better each novel. It makes you feel attached to the main character but no matter how much I feel like I want to be attached to the primary secondary characters I find myself not. Add in to this story to me being a transition book in the story, while it was a great book it would not be one of my top 3 favorite in the series.

Five Stars

All is great with only one complaint. It's taking too long for each book to come out. I can't wait for the next installment. Development and pacing of the story and characters is solid. Keep up the great work!

My least favorite in the series.

The thrust of this entire book was about trying to find a way of saving the main character who was dying from the events of the previous book. This book mostly consist of a lot of whining and complaining and thinking “I know I’m going to die”. Maybe the story would’ve been more griping if it was actually about a terminally ill person and what he was going through, but we all knew something would save him in the end. Plus even at the end of the book when it looks like he may have overcome these difficulties you’re not quite sure because he only resolved 1/2 of his issues. So following in this vein I’m sure the next book will be about him trying to overcome the second half of his issues, and that is him dealing with his soul cultivation. But enough of that, putting aside the extreme slowness of this book I can say the writing is excellent and the flow of the story is quite good (but very slow).

Good next step.

Not much to say, had a good point. Had a great time flow. MC still getting more injured as time goes on but you can tell he is changing. He is maturing but it isn't a complete 180 degree change over night. villans are getting a little more interesting. Also, it covers a lot of ground with what's written.

Now the bad. There are some points where tropes are pretty obvious but nice enough. That's kinda it.

Looking forward to book 7.

What a great story

This story had a few very small areas that seemed rushed, but overall it stuck with all expectations. I can't wait for the next chapter.
