Will figure-skating enemies become lovers?

Henry

Everything comes easily for Theo Sullivan, whether it’s jumps or figure-skating world titles. Everyone loves him - judges, fans, coaches. I hate him.

Now he’s invaded my training center, and I have to see him every day as we prepare for the Olympics. I’m going to win gold if it’s the last thing I do. I’m going to beat him. But the strangest thing is happening. I’m peeking under his happy-go-lucky exterior and discovering there’s more to Theo than I imagined.

This is a mistake. I can’t trust him. I can’t be falling in love.

Theo

My mom’s convinced training with Henry Sakaguchi will distract me as we head into the Olympics. No way - Henry’s epically boring and cold. He might as well be carved from ice.

But when I need help, he’s there. He tries to keep me at arm’s length, but it’s no use. He’s too kind. Too generous. He’s caring and gorgeous and hot, and I’ve never wanted anyone like this.

I might want Henry more than a gold medal. Am I falling in love?

Kiss and Cry by Keira Andrews is a steamy gay sports romance featuring grumpy/sunshine opposites attracting, secretly soft-hearted boys, hurt/comfort, and, of course, a happy ending.

Great listen

This is such a great story that I really enjoyed both the first time I read it earlier this year and now in audio. Definitely recommend.

Skating Together

This is a great story of the enemies to lovers. Of course the enemy is really only on one side. Henry had one small incident years ago that seems to have caused him to form a judgement against Theo. Theo's attitude to life doesn't seem to help. But the are forced together by circumstances and things move forward from there. I love the final chapter that gives a picture into the future for these two characters.

Rivals to lovers done right

I grew up watching figure skating – the Battle of the Brians, Torvill and Dean, Elizabeth Manley, Michelle Kwan… And hundreds more, but you get the picture. When I saw Keira Andrews had written a book about the world of competitive figure skating, I knew I had to grab it. Because, like, only one guy was going to win, right?

The story starts out in Henry’s point of view, so I was generally more sympathetic to him. He’s a very focused young man. It’s all about the competition. His Japanese heritage made him interesting, but his laser-focus isn’t something Canadians are known for. We’re the friendly ones. The Americans are the cut-throat competitors, right? Except Theo’s an easygoing American who wants to be friends with everyone. Tragic circumstances have brought him to Henry’s rink and Henry’s coaches. Henry’s not pleased. Theo’s pretty zen because he’ll be heading back to Los Angeles soon.

Also, the men’s families are super different. I enjoyed watching that aspect of their relationship as well. And skating is a small community, so everyone knows everyone.

So I loved Henry and I loved Theo and I couldn’t figure out how Keira was going to give me the satisfying ending I craved. Yet she did. Along with a couple moments of tears as well.

I won’t give away the ending, but I’ll say it was perfect and so was Greg Boudreaux’s narration. Another great listen.

Rings very true

I rarely give 5 stars but I had to this time. Maybe it’s because I read this both during the Olympics, or just because I really enjoy figure skating, but it just felt really honest. It mentions a lot of behind the scenes intrigue and backstabbing and other little known facts that go on in the sport. I just really enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters, the competitiveness and the rivalry. The narration was spot on and I could really tell the difference between the two main characters. I even enjoyed some of the Canadian accent that Greg threw in for Henry. It really helped to set them apart. I honestly didn’t know the way the author was going to have their competitiveness turn out, but it was perfect. I haven’t read or listen to any of the previous books in the series but I plan on going to read them now.

Golden Retriever and Black Cat Leads

I really enjoyed the uptight lead and golden retriever lead energy going on. I appreciated how reassuring and into their friends with benefits deal Theo was, and ice skating was a nice change of pace compared to hockey romances for the sports stuff I read.

Narration was great! I really enjoy Greg B's voice.

Excellent! My heart yearns for more!

I finished listening to this story in two weeks (due to my busy work schedule) I love the characters and the world building of figure skating. I think Keira Andrews did an excellent job making me visualize the intensity of this career. I felt all the emotions between Theo and Henry (main love birds). My heart was racing at the right moments and then there were scenes where I wanted to cry with the character. Then the steamy scenes! HOT! I was shook. And you know who helped bring out these intense moments? The AMAZING narrator, Greg Boureaux! He killed it with the voices and tone. I think I have a new favorite narrator. It was not just a guy reading words. He brought the story and every single character to life! That's a gift. I'm impressed. One con: This darn novel makes me ache for romance in my own life now lol
Read if you like rivals to lovers trope, happy endings, or figure skating drama.

Gorgeous story, perfect narration

I have listened to this audiobook countless times. It all started when I read it on kindle unlimited and fell in love with Theo and Henry falling in love. Then I bought the audiobook, and the narration is absolutely perfect. The inflections of the characters are spot on and help illuminate the story. I have bought several audiobooks because he is the performer, and he is incredible.
This story is so sweet and pure, sexy and romantic. If you enjoy enemies to lovers and sports/competition m/m romance…me too! And I promise, this book is at the top of the genre.

Warm cuddles on a winter night

I love this story. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite storylines. The main characters were sympathetic, so I really cared about them and their life enjoyed how they were able to grow, fall in love, and find adult ways to resolve the traumatic events that made their lives more difficult. I highly recommend that you spend some time with characters.

Loved

What a wonderful story! I was shocked by the tears this book brought to my eyes but they were good tears. The characters were written so beautiful that I couldn’t help it!

The narration of course was perfection as always. Greg still continues to be an absolute favorite of mine.

Okay if you like adolescent behavior in adults

The story was okay, and could have been great. I grew so tired of Henry's whiney attitude that I gave up at the 3/4 mark. I just could not listen to any more of his will he/won't he, I love him/I hate him, I want him/I don't want him attitude. I got to the point I didn't care. I didn't finish.
