Publisher's summary

“When living in peace, one must think of danger.”

These were the words Protector Chan’s master had left him. Now, the greedy eye of a king has landed on their sect once more. In the search to reach the Divine Peak, all too many will fall by the wayside, ground up in the bitter dust of desire.

Between craving and enlightenment, between the heavens and earth, lies a single man making a choice over what, in the end, is most important in the search for immortality.

A short story set in the A Thousand Li universe by Tao Wong.

Same World, Different Sect

I enjoyed this short story very much and found it a poignant story of duty, remembrance, and sacrifice. This is a different sect in a different kingdom... or possibly the sect we know but many hundreds of years ago and before it was located on its current peak . I like these short stories set in the same world of A thousand Li even if they aren't about wu Ying's part of the world. A story such as this illustrates a broader view of the functioning of cultivators and sects across the land and how they are the same and how they differ from the Verdent green Waters.

To help clear up some confusion, this isn't a story about what happened to the sect in The Second Storm. It also isn't about the Guardian Wu Ying interacts with when entering or leaving his sect. It doesn't have any characters from the main series--even though one has the same title and name and is voiced the same as the Elder Librarian in the main series. This is an interesting little tale, but it isn't any part of Wu Ying's story.

Would love more short stories like these

If you follow the story "A Thousand Li" you'll recognize the main character in this story is the old gate keeper who always has a few words of wisdom for Long Wu Ying. Hearing where some people were during the great battle is what I enjoy. I wish these short stories were in bundle. I hope to see more.
