Who says that Vampires and Werewolves can't get along?

Paulie Vergen is a Vampire living the daily grind of life until a fateful day when a newly infected Werewolf landed on his doorstep. All Paulie wanted was peace and quiet, but life didn't often seem to care about his plans. He's now faced with helping the poor Werewolf navigate through the Underworld in order to find the help that he needs.

Unfortunately, there was much more to this journey than they'd anticipated. The Gnomes are at war, the portal system is erratic at best, the Werewolves are less than cooperative, riding in an Ogre-run trolley isn't as fun as it sounds, and somebody has hired an assassin to make sure that they never reach their destination at all!

Paulie comes to find that the quiet life is not all it's cracked up to be, but he also learns that his hatred for Werewolves has been based solely on propaganda. It seems that Vampires and Werewolves can be friends after all.

"Overall, an entertaining read with great skills ... fantastic voice! Really enjoyed it." -Judge, 22nd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards.

The land of Ononokin gets its influence as a hodgepodge from Monty Python, National Lampoon, Family Guy, Terry Pratchett, Discworld, Robert Asprin, Myth Adventures, Piers Anthony, Xanth, Douglas Adams, Harry Harrison, and countless other comedic mediums. Readers will find a new, fun, comedic fantasy world to play in. Wizards, magic, Dwarfs, Orcs, Ogres, Trolls, Gnomes, Halflings, Vampires, Zombies, Dragons, Gorgans, and more fill the vastness of Ononokin.

This is a very well written paranormal novel with a decidedly comedic turn. Not what you'd normally expect when reading about the journey of a vampire and a werewolf. And let's not forget Bumache, the assassin that is chasing them. By the way, the name Bumache foreshadows a number of butt references but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

This book by John Logsdon and Christopher Young reminds me of the middle novels in the Myth Adventures series by Robert Lynn Asprin. The pointed references to slightly renamed companies and individuals like Microsoft, Apple, and Google allow the authors to air their viewpoint on modern society in a very amusing way. I found this treatment very entertaining yet the book also works on a purely straight road adventure basis. When you get right down to it, The Journey Home is a book about the transformation of a mild mannered character into a stronger more self-reliant one and that's a pretty universal tale.

I won this book on Goodreads.

It was awesome! I received this as a giveaway for an honest review and I want to thank the author's for an awesome story that kept my attention. I didn't want to put the book down. I did think originally that this was going to be a kids book from looking at the title and cover, but it was not and that pleasantly surprised me.

I'm struggling a little with this rating. I enjoy the quirky humour in this book, the madcap adventures, the characters and the way the story is written. It is just the sort of bizarre world I love. A four-star story.

But there are some topics that I don't think should be made light of (even as part of punishing / outwitting the bad guy - sorry but I've recently been reading a lot of victim accounts which have made me sensitive on the subject and I just can't find it funny) and so reduced the number of stars I would have otherwise given.

I read this as part of a box set and I enjoyed this second story slightly more than the first one. I think that it could be read as a stand-alone, but I appreciated already understanding a little bit about the Ononokin world beforehand.
Reasonably light, but with a sense of not wanting to miss the "jokes" e.g. the gnome-created technology Gnoogle is preferred over Microsquish.

Sorry but not for me. If calling the baddie Bumache has you rolling in the aisle and Mills & Boon romances are not cheesy enough for you, then this may well be for you. In view of the many rave reviews I may well try another book by Mr Logsdon as this book may just be an exception, but until then I will stick with a generous two stars.

I've loved every one of the Ononokin Series. The world building and character creation is excellent and every story has had me glued to the page from beginning to end. The books are full of fun and humour and all with a very well thought up storyline.

I want to go to Ononokin

Characters are so vividly & simply identified...doesn't take the reader long to feel it's all REAL & not a fantasy world. Humor, empathy, happy, sad; emotionally, it delivers! I'm hooked on this Ononokin World!!!

Beware the full moon!

Vampires and werewolves getting along? Surely not.
This was even better than book 1 (which I thought was great). Again, it was fun to read and I enjoyed all the quirky characters. A great series for young and old alike.

After reading A Quest of Undoing: A Tale from the Land of Ononokin, I wasn't super keen to read another book in the series. But then The Pattern Scars happened, and I needed something that *wasn't* going to see me crying for the last hundred pages. I'd purchased this in a bundle of 8-10 fantasy/comedy novels, so sort of stumbled into it despite my intentions.

I actually enjoyed this book in the series a great deal more than the last one--the flow was better, and there was a real drive to keep turning to the next page. It was entertaining, thoroughly mad hat, and had some nice lessons about friendship and racism. I'll be reading the next book.

The 4 book set now out has the first 4 books, #1 Quest of Undoing #2 The Full Moon Event #3 Bob the Zombie #4 Gappy's Gadgets {the other not included is #5 The Kidnapped Prince which just became available to read on my device.} There are actually 2 writers, both with multiple, strange personalities. Worth the read, so much so that I have the 4 books separate but it's easier on my app to read straight through, so that's how and why I went thru them again.

very very funny! a vampire finds a stray werepup who used to be a human Prince but got infected with werewolfism by a lesbian werewolf on the full moon (the only time werewolves don't transform) when they were both dressed in animal costumes at a fetish party. understood???? along the way to finding out who the werepup is (Paulie the vampire named him Mr Biscuits, or Burt when human) they are chased by an assassin called Bumache (and I've only just realised (duh) that it isn't pronounced with a foreign accent!!) rescued by ogres and cycling trolls, and given clues by Whizzfiddle the wizard.
looking forward to Bob the Zombie!!

I'm so pleased I found the books about the land of Ononokin, with The Full Moon Event as the second of 4 already released, and luckily there are more on their way so this series is still growing :-)

Paulie Vergen the unconventional vampire is the main character but all characters are fun in their own right and the writing is so easy to read and great for relaxing after a tough day or week.

If you fancy a story about a land with Vampires, Wizards and all sorts of supernatural races that will make you laugh then give this book a go. I have personally recommended to friends and members of my family who have loved it too :-)

Paulie has been adopted by a werepup he's calling "Mr. Biscuts/Burt" and he's trying to stay ahead of the authorities, especially someone whose been hired to find Burt. For someone who likes being off the radar, Paulie's getting more than he bargined for!

This is my second book in the series, and I'm a fan! Vampires and Werewolves getting along and its not a Twilight book? It's nice to see another book from Logsdon about paranormals with "normal issues". These are well wriiten, humerous stories with just enough snark to keep you smiling. I recommend this book

The end made me cry. I take back what I said in my notes about this diverging from the Discworld series. I forgot that the non-human races typically had the bulk of the technological prowess and that this book was set in the underworld.

Great book. I've seen this format before and there wasn't a lot of trope-busting but it was a nice story nonetheless. What made it great, for me, was the ability to evoke emotion from me. Will continue reading the series.

This is the second in the series of A Tale from the Land of Ononokin, it features an Assasin , a Vampire and a Werepup.

A most surprising friendship has been struck up by the Vampire and Werepup as everyone knows they do not get on, then they both set off on an adventure trying to get the Werepup his memory back, facing danger from the Assasin at all turns.

A very enjoyable read

I found the humor in this book even beer than the first book. Very much in the line of Douglas Adams. Nor does the story lack for plot. It is a well written tale interspersed with rye humor, whit, intrigue, and adventure.

I started this, and while I enjoyed the dog and vampire, it eventually became too silly for me.
Typo: page 90 "were" should have an apostrophe: "we're."
