An Antique Alibi: A Thrift Shop Cozy Mystery (Secondhand Sleuth Mysteries Book 2) Kindle Edition
Welcome to Pine Grove, where Minnesota nice is just a suggestion, and the sheriff is a real dog.
Turning her garage into a thrift store was a lakeside picnic compared to having her mother come to visit. And when the scandalously young boyfriend she brought with her disappears, Jessica Braun has her work cut out for her.
With the help of the canine sheriff and her new friends in town, Jess will have to think fast to keep her mother from taking the blame for the body that turns up.
And as if a mother and a murder aren’t enough, her shop faces competition from the antique store that’s just opened in Pine Grove—and the owner is already on Jessica’s bad side.
Will she be able to prove her mother’s innocence and make sure her store survives the challenge?

- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2023This is another great book in the Secondhand sleuth series by Mel Morgan. I can't wait to read the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2023Fast easy read. When there is a murder and the local officer is gone. Sheriff, the dog just might be in charge.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2022What a fun read. Complete with a crazy mom visiting from out of town with her much younger boyfriend. The town deputy has taken off leaving his dog Sheriff with Jessica . If you like cozy mysteries with a little fun then this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2023What I disliked was, I guess, the reality of the story. Why would someone just step in to solve the problem, and there was no police involved. Also the sheriff is a dog. I will say it was written well.. I was just not happy with the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2024Lots of twists and turns and a lot of laughs. I am really liking this author and am having a hard time putting the books down.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2022I'm really enjoying this new series! It was fun meeting Jess's mom in this book. She's a free-spirited hippie who means well and loves Jess like crazy, but it did seem like she might've been the cause of the murder without really being involved. Although the coroner who was handling it in the deputy's mysterious planned absence seemed to be leaning toward Cheryl as her prime suspect.
I really love Jess's teen shop helper Freddie. She cracks me up and it's hard to remember she's just a kid because she's got some seriously good ideas and sleuthing moves in her. Uncle Rick's pretty cool too now that he's staying reformed. Even though he and his sister Cheryl snarked back and forth a lot, I could tell they really loved each other.
What a crazy showdown! I hadn't suspected that person at all and honestly was hoping it was someone else! I've already borrowed the next on KU because this family wedding they were talking about that's coming up should prove interesting!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2022I have sooo enjoyed each story and look forward to the next one! I feel like I know the characters in "real life".
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2023This was a fun read. We got to meet Jessica's mom and find out more about everyone. I was happy that Jessie got to watch the Sheriff for a little bit. I am absolutely loving this series, I am excited to read more. I was suspicious of who the killer was but wasn't sure it was them, so I was surprised who it was.
