Williamsville Inn #2

The Cupcake Conundrum

Rate this book
What could be worse than having to spend a week with the man you ghosted? When Adrian Cobb arrives in New York to help his brother move, he comes face to face with the biggest mistake of his past-a baking conference hookup he rudely ditched a year ago. Now, he's sharing a guest room with Ajay Sunagar, who looks as tasty as the pastries he bakes, and Adrian desperately wants to prove he can handle the heat this time. But Jay makes it clear he isn't ready to forgive and forget Adrian's bad behavior. None of Adrian's repeated apologies seem to make a dent in the walls Jay's put up and Adrian can't tell if Jay would rather make him grovel or cover Adrian in frosting and lick him all over. Adrian's afraid that this time, Jay will be the one to walk away-unless Adrian can find a way to make him believe in second chances."The Cupcake Conundrum" is a sweet-treat story about a single dad, instant attraction, and falling in love all over again that takes place in the Williamsville Inn series world. It features characters from Brigham Vaughn's "Snowstorms and Second Chances", along with "Snowflakes and Song Lyrics" and "The Cupid Crawl" by Hank Edwards.

I so enjoyed this entire series. I really don’t want this to be the last one. Although they are all stand alone books, it’s so nice to keep visiting the guys from previous books. So I recommend reading them in order.

I love the way Brigham Vaughn writes. Even though she lets you know what the characters are thinking it’s interspersed with the action so you don’t become boughed down. Her stories are full of romance and just enough sex to tantalize but not overwhelm.

Adrian Cobb and Jay (Ajay) Sunagar are truly a refreshing couple to read about.

Both enter into the situation as this being a weekend romp and nothing more. By the end of that weekend, both could see themselves in a different.

In comes the burden of poor communication...

To take a step back to the beginning, Adrian and jay meet at a bar during baking event. Adrian is newly separated and Jay is single. Jay being much more forward than Adrian, make initiations that Adrian never refuses.
You later discover throughout the story ta plans are made to continue seeing one another but Jay is "ghosted" by Adrian for what seemed like reasonable reasons to him. Only he came to the conclusions as a solo act. Jay for his part, goes through the stage that any person would go through. Worry, stress, anger, and the realization he'd been ghosted.

Another fantastic twist, Jay is soon to be a former roommate of Seth, Adrian's brother who is moving out and getting married. Adrian is helping Seth when Adrian arrives and the dam begins to crumble. Pain, wincing, hurt, unshed tears, and shock seem to envelope these two. Being stuck in a truck together is just the beginning of a few bumpy days together.

Helping Seth and Erik during this short period with moving, unpacking, and cake testing, was just the push both Jay and Adrian needed to get everything on the table...and in the bedroom. Of course, Jay had a twist of a plan of his own and he realizes his actions were no better than Adrian's when all was said and done.
Adrian returns home to run his business, get a clear head and make an attempt to understand Jay's perspective. Jay makes a visit to Adrian's bakery unexpectedly, admits he was wrong, and should not have ended things that way the second time around.
Working out the kinks, Adrian and Jay embark on a slow building of trust, real and open communication, bone deep love and happiness.

One thing was abundantly clear, communication - or lack there of - was a common theme in this story. You will understand better after having read this book.

Family revelations with parents, exes, and children as well as personal fears and growth help to bring these two where they belong...permanently in the arms of one another.

This book has sat in my Kindle library for months and unfortunately went unread. Then as February started I was looking for Valentine's Day reads when I remembered The Cupcake Conundrum and decided it was the perfect time to give it a go. I was not disappointed, not that I thought I would because Brigham Vaughn has yet to write a story I didn't like.

The Cupcake Conundrum is another sweet, fun, delightful holiday read for a holiday, that despite the romance genre, gets rarely used for a setting. As I said, this is a fun read but there is more drama("drama" may be a bit strong of a word but the easiest so I'll stick with it😉) than in Hank Edwards' Valentine entry to the Williamsville Inn series, The Cupid Crawl, but you still find yourself smiling when you ride along on Adrian and Jay's journey right from the beginning. There's more than a few times I'd love to bang their heads together till they communicate better but you have to give the heroes a few hurdles to overcome.

As always, this is a spoiler free zone so I'll just stop here before my fingers get to talking too much. I'll just end by saying, The Cupcake Conundrum will not only make your face smile brighter and your heart pound faster, it will probably leave you hungrier more than once(how can you not be with a title like The Cupcake Conundrum?😉). A real romantic gem and another winner from the heart of Brigham Vaughn.

Never give up, never surrender to your fears. Adrian is a divorcee and certified master baker who owns his own shop, King of Tarts. Jay is head pastry chef at a 5 star boutique hotel, The Kensington. They meet in a bar while they are in NYC at a baker's convention. There was a spark and they spent the weekend together consumed by flames of pure raw sex. They tentatively made promises based on all the new feels. Then Adrian ghosted Jay. A year later, Adrian is helping his brother, Seth move into his fiance, Erik's apartment. Surprise, surprise! Jay is the ex room mate helping Seth move to Philly. Awkward! There are some twists and turns, some concerns with Jay's South Asian parents' culture, concerns with dating while single parenting lots to untwist. Will the guys talk about the ghosting during the trip south? Can Jay forgive Adrian? Does Adrian want forgiveness? Great story. Nicely done. I found the chapter titles irrevelant and irritating. I would have loved the author to include the recipes described. My tongue was hanging out hoping for a taste. Nicely written. It was nice hearinghow Erik and Seth were doing and the references to Rex and Will. Each story is good reading alone, but the series is awesome and amazing! OMG A FANTATSIC READ
Adrian is helping his brother move in with his fiancée when he gets the shock of his life. He never knew Seth's room mate was Jay. Jay was the man that Adrian had met at a cooking expo and had the most amazing weekend with him. It was the best weekend of his life and they promised to stay in touch. But Adrian had second and third thoughts as he was honest about something with Jay and he didnt know how he would react. Adrian had been married and they had a child but it ended in divorce. His wife always knew Adrian was bi so seeing Jay shouldn't be a problem but when doubt starts to take over he just doesn't answer any of Jays messages. And now 1 year later a very angry Jay stands in front of him and all Adrian wants to do is hug and kiss him. But will Jay forgive him or even let him explain what happened???
OMG THIS IS A FNATSTIC READ THAT JUST MELTED MY HEART. THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK IVE READ BY BRIGHAN VAUGHN AND IM GUTTED I MISSED OUT ON READING THE BOOKS PREVIOUSLY IN THE SERIES. IM BLOWN AWAY WITH HOW BRILLIANTLY THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN AND HOW IT JUST SUCKED ME IN FROM THE VERY FIRST CHAPTER. SUPER EXCITED TO READ ANY OTHER BOOKS BY BRIGHAM.

Sweet and savory!

Newly separated, Adrian attends a baking conference and meets pastry chef, Jay. The two men hit it off and one thing leads to another, with Adrian promising to reach out to Jay after their weekend rendezvous; but he never does. One year later Adrian is back in NYC helping his older brother move to Philadelphia. Unbeknownst to him, his brother's roommate is making the journey with them and it's Jay! But things aren't all rainbows and puppies between the two men, Jay is still upset that Adrian ghosted him and is not sure if he can ever trust him. Adrian has to reevaluate his life and determine if Jay is someone worth fighting for.

I enjoyed this book. It was full of sweet romance between Adrian and Jay and Adrian's brother Seth and Erik. I was a bit thrown when we find out why Adrian ghosted Jay; it makes sense but I just wish they communicated more. I really enjoyed the culture that this book recognized. It brought in a lot of new elements to the story and it was interesting to see how this played off both men's love for cooking/baking. I think that this book is definitely worth reading!

Cute and sweet second chance romance

One of my favorite authors so picking up her new book was not a hardship.
I absolutely loved Adrian and Jay.
A chance meeting leads to a sizzling weekend encounter.
Both men seem to be eagerly looking forward to the possibility of more, only Adrian disappears leaving Jay hurt and resentful.
Time passes and in an strange twist of fate, they happen to meet again and find they have friends and family in common.
Adrian sees Jay as the one that got away and it's obvious that under all of Jay's posturing that he feels the same way.
Old habits die hard and before either one realizes it they're both jumping to conclusions and not talking things out once again.
This time, they're determined to to do things the right way, even if it hurts or it's uncomfortable.
They've both made mistakes and are willing to own up to them.
I loved the easy relationship Adrian has with his ex.
His kids were absolutely adorable and it was really sweet seeing them become such a happy healthy family.
Do yourself a favor and read this book.
It's perfectly sweet and snack sized.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the previous book "yet" but I plan to as soon as I can. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait to read more. It was such an easy going read about 2nd chances. Loved Adrian and Jay.

This was a great story line. Adrian finds himself in New York, helping his brother move in with his Fiance and meets one of his roommates, not realizing that one of them was someone that he ghosted from his past. Jay is shocked to find out that his roommate's brother is the same man that broke his heart, only a year ago. Jay is determined to not get a broken heart this time around. Adrian feels so bad about what he did to Jay and is determined to make it up to him. This takes us on their journey.

Fantastic characters that tug on the heart strings. Easy to visualize descriptions to detail and engaging dialogue.

Written as a 3rd person, multi pov. with a HFN ending.

Would I recommend this book? Yes

Would I read more from this author? Yes

Adrian and Jay have an immediate connection when they meet at a baking conference, and that's why it hurts so much more when Adrian ghosts Jay once he returns home and the reality of his family and business crash into him. Jump forward one year and when Adrian is helping out his brother move in with his fiance, who does he run into but the guy he ghosted. Jay is holding on to a lot of anger and resentment towards Adrian and, although that spark is still obviously there, Adrian feels rather hopeless in earning a second chance. I really liked that he doesn't give up trying to apologise though. It's easy to understand Jay's anger and I needed Adrian to really work towards building the trust again. It's fairly low-angst though, especially when Valentine's Day comes around and Adrian gets the best surprise!

Adrian and Jay are so romantic together and with all the delicious, mouth-watering cupcakes they bake, it is a heavenly read!

Adrian and Jay met for the first time at a baking conference in New York the previous year. The two of them truly enjoyed each other’s company and agreed to continue the relationship once they returned home. But Adrian, back in his home environment, got uncomfortable and just took the easy way out by “ghosting” Jay.

When Adrian helps his brother move, he runs into Jay again! Jay is still full of anger and hurt over the way Adrian treated him and does not seem willing to give Adrian a chance to do that to him again. Adrian knows he still wants Jay, despite his own stupid actions, and he tries repeatedly to apologize to him and make it right. Only when they have to share a guest room does it appear that they both still care. Adrian is serious this time around, but does Jay trust him enough to believe he won’t pull that stunt again? Will he risk his heart and take a chance on Adrian?

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
My old 3* is now a 3,5* and clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the at he kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Adrian and Jay meet cute at a bar when both are attending an expo in Brooklyn. They hit it off and then hit the sheets and then Adrian hit the road which left Jay feeling a bit hurt because they really connected. Then they meet again when it turns out that Jay is Adrian's brother's roommate and they are both helping his brother Seth move. The spark is still there but Jay is not ready to forgive and forget right away. Adrian realizes that he let something good get away and he wants to try again. Their road to one another has its speed bumps - they jump to conclusions, there are family issues to consider on both sides but what makes this story good is the way once they really that each is it for the other they work together to work through the issues as they come. Sweet as a cupcake!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Brigham. The characters were were funny and still had some sharp edges.

Told in Adrian’s point of view, we learn how he ghosted Jay and why he might have done it.
They meet up again at the beautiful Williamsville Inn that Adrian’s brother’s fiancé owns.
Through their week long visit, Adrian does his best to prove to Jay what he feels.
It takes a few times but the affection they feel for one another blossoms as they find their common ground again
Brigham’s writing style is smooth and puts you in the moment. She has a way of describing events that puts you in the scene.

If you like seasonal books, books about bakers and forgiveness, this book is for you.

I love second chances...

I really love second chance romances and this one didn't disappoint. Jay and Adrian's story had some complicated areas and a lot of good romantic feels in others. I really loved how Seth and Erik was incorporated in the story from the last book. Seth and Adrian being brothers relationship was great in this story and the connection Seth had with Jay was surprising. Jay's attitude towards Adrian's betrayal felt so real and I felt his hurt and anger. I really felt Adrian remorse-fullness and loved how he took on the guilt, learned from it and made it his mission to get Jay back. This was an all around feel good book and I really enjoyed it.

The Cupcake Conundrum is a wonderfully written, sweet, second chances story about Adrian and Jay and I couldn't put it down. This was a emotional roller coaster of back and forth will they won't they. Adrian and Jay met at a baking conference and had an instant connection. But than reality stepped in and Adrian had gotten back to his life and that didn't seem to include Jay. But then Adrian and Jay connected again as they were both helping Adrian's bother Seth move, but that didn't seem like the right time for them either. Just when it looked like all hope was lost the sweetest thing happened.
I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.

Adrian and Jay had met at a convention in New York a year earler. They hit it off so well that they promised to continue their relationship long-distance when they got back to their respective homes. But once Adrian got back home, he got cold feet and ghosted Jay. A year later, Adrian runs into Jay again and realizes that his feelings towards Jay haven't changed. Adrian tries to apologize
but Jay can't get over his anger and won't accept his apology. However circumstances are such that they end up sharing a guest room and they hit it off again. This time, Adrian wants to make the relationship permanent, but he doesn't know where he stands with Jay. Is Jay willing to make the relationship permanent, or is he simply stringing Adrian along just to get revenge?

This is a well written book with strong characters and a realistic story line. The author takes you on an emotional journey with this sweet second chance romance between Adrian and Jay. She does a great job bringing out all the feels as they work towards gaining trust and love in one another as they work towards their future. The secondary characters help to move the story , especially Adrian's children.Molly and Josh. Her scenes are described in detail and the story flows fluidly. I enjoyed reading their story.

It started as a hook-up during a conference, but by the end of that weekend both Jay and Adrian believed it was much more. But coming home, Adrian, who is co-parenting his two children with his ex-wife, gets cold feet and ghosts Jay.
Almost exactly one year later Adrian helps his brother move from NY to Philadelphia, and meets Jay again, who was his brother's room mate. Both help with the move and Adrian tries to repair the damage, but it takes a third run for them to get together.
A nice, heart warning story, with great characters all around. Entertaining and really enjoyable.

I loved The Cupcake Conundrum, of course it helps that I love books with baking in them and this had a pastry chef and master baker. Just my dream. I loved Adrian and Jay. They were coming from different perspectives but both loved baking. I think it was a great second meet-cute, the original meet was just plain hot, but the second one was definitely unexpected. I liked that trust had to be built and wasn’t easy. I thought adding Seth and Erik from Snowstorms and Second Chances was so good. I loved the ending and definitely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book; it was so sweet it made me crave cupcakes!
This is a sweet second chances story, where Adrian & Jay reconnect a year after having met and spent an amazing weekend together and after Adrian had subsequently ghosted Jay. Jay is understandably pissed and doesn't want anything to do with Adrian, but their attraction and connection is too strong to fight it so in the end they will cave.
A cute story about different backgrounds and places in live and how they can be merged.

First let me say that I find it really hard to like someone who thinks it's okay to ghost someone they claimed to have had such an intimate time with. They connected at a certain level that went beyond just the regular one night stand expectation. As a result, it took me a bit to feel the characters. At one point I liked one more than other, but then I was finally able to fully vibe with their relationship and the progression of it. It was a cute read, and it is hard not to like her style of writing.

Adrian is a divorcee and certified master baker meets Jay, a head pastry chef at a 5 star boutique hotel, in a bar hotel at a baker's convention. That then leads to a sizzling weekend together and both are eagerly looking forward to the possibility of more to only have Adrian disappears leaving Jay hurt and resentful.

They meet again a year later by chance. This was a fun short read. I definitely recommend this book!

A great addition to the series. This was a pretty good sweet read. Adrian and Jay were good together. Their first meeting was off the chain and Adrian messed that up. I really don't want to give anything away, but Adrian was scared and did not contact Jay after their first meeting. They meet up a year later and it takes a bit for Jay to come around. This was a cute story and I loved how previous characters were mentioned from other books in the series. I totally loved this book.

Adrian a certified Master Baker and Jay a pastry chef (a very tasty combo) meet at a Baking Expo in NY and hit it off. The make plans to meet up but life and choices interfere. A yearish later they come back together (unknowingly ) to help move Adrian's brother. There story has steamy romance, hurt feelings and chance encounters. Constantly keeping you guess at the twists and turns. Can they find love or will they let the hurt keep them apart. Fabulous book.

A second chance romance between Jay and Alan after Alan ghosted him. Alan was scared to try anything with Jay because of his recent divorce and his kids and he didn't know that Jay knew his brother until they helped him moved. Jay doesn't trust Alan and didn' want to give him a second chance even after they had reconnected. The book is funny, sweet, some angst, adorable kids, romantic and their sexy times are hot. The book will have your attention from start to finish.

Oops, I read this one out of order but it doesn't really matter the books in this series can be read as a stand-alone.

This story had a bit of angst, so not as light and easy a read as the others but I loved it just the same.

TAGS
-- Holiday/Valentine -- light angst -- very sweet -- bi character -- kids -- family -- learning to trust -- made me smile -- swoon worthy -- loved the MCs... Adrian & Jay -- interracial couple -- can be read as a stand-alone -- read in one sitting
