Publisher's summary

Her dreams shattered. Her world destroyed.

He can save and heal her....

Only if she dares.

Trying to rebuild her life, 17-year-old Lacey Robinson moves from one coast to the other to start over. But the pain and devastation of her past can't be left behind - not after a loss like that.

Starting over is always easier said than done....

When Lacey meets the brooding, sexy Kade Maxwell, he just might have the magic touch that awakens her feminine side, and a kiss that erases her worst nightmares.

As Lacey begins to heal, her dreams of playing baseball take a turn for the worse - a chauvinistic team captain has other plans. And when Kade comes face-to-face with a violent rival from his past, Lacey's fears and pain resurface, threatening to destroy what they repaired. Together, they must dare to fight, so they can dare to find a future.

Overall Good Book 1 Major Perplexing Issue/Flaw

The good stuff; this is a well written book by S.B. Alexander. It was frustrating yet understandable that (the heroine) Lacey Robinson was unable to share or trust easily, given her super traumatic past life devastation.

Kade Maxwell (hero and 1 of 3 triplets) is every girls dream! Not only good-looking, handsome, understanding, hot, etc. he wants to help save Lacey whenever there is a conflict. He swoops in like a superhero and is able to take care of most of the issues or assist her when asked.

It is more unique than the run-of-the-mill romance. The content is great- just ignore the unbelievable scenarios, of which there aren't many.

The questionable stuff. This is categorized as Teens> Romance & Friendship. It is NOT for a teenager. There are very descriptive, adult situations throughout the last half of the book. The only thing teenage about it is the age of the characters. It should be labeled as Contemporary Romance with mature themes in the summary – which there are not.

For the story, one thing kept bugging me. I may be behind the times, but the last time I checked boys play baseball and girls play softball. An exception, I come from a very, very small high school. One year there were not enough girls to make up a softball team, so the girls who wanted to play a spring sport WERE allowed to play on the baseball team. That was an exception. Since this story takes place in or near the Boston area I cannot imagine this scenario unfolding.

Amanda Fugate–Moss is a narrator that I have listened to on and off for almost 2 years. When I'm interested in a book and see that Amanda is the narrator, I pick it up. It is a no-brainer. She is an excellent performer.

Note: Mis-Categorized, mature themes, language and descriptions of past violent acts.

What a great book!!! I absolutely loved it!!!

This audiobook was amazing! It has great characters and story line. I'm already looking forward to the next book in this series! It was so hard to put it down once I started listening to it.

The narrator did a good job and brought the story to life.

Lacey has gone through a lot with the loss of her mom and sister. She moves across the country to start a new life in a new school. She is tough but flashbacks from the night that changed her life keep plaguing her.

Kade is a gorgeous boy that is taken aback by Lacey's explosive strong temper. He falls for her and has to work hard to get her attention. He also has some heartache from his own past.

Absolutely delightful audiobook. Only of my favorite stories.

A fun listen!

What made the experience of listening to Dare to Kiss the most enjoyable?

I loved the characters and the premise of the book. It’s a cool and unusual story with interesting situations and well fleshed out main characters that you care about.

What does Amanda Fugate-Moss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a very pleasant and soothing voice which she adapts well for each character. I particularly enjoyed her interpretations in the dialogue, and could easily visualize the story unfolding. Nicely done!

Good book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I liked this book but I felt it was a little on the long side. I think all the issues explored in this audio could have been done in less time

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I liked the ending.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked the performer well enough, but I needed a little more emotion on the other characters. I liked the emotionless voice in Lacey because it went with her character. I felt the narrator paused a little too much in between characters.

Any additional comments?

I liked the character of Lacey. She was strong in her own way. Even though she had issues with her mom and sister's deaths she was determined to not look weak. I like how she handled Kade when she first met him. You would never see a female character do that and she did seem strong from it. I am interested in reading the next book to see the continuation of Lacey's story.

Well written, excellent read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes!

Firstly I need to mention that I was gifted this copy of Dare to Kiss in exchange for an honest review.

I really, really enjoyed this book, I felt like the character were well developed, it moved at a good pace w/o any filler or fluff. I loved that while the man character had been through a tramautic and devastating event - she chose to fight back while in the midst of dealing with the mental and emotional effects, she was comfortable with who she was and knew what she wanted.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dare to Kiss?

I don't have one particular scene that really caught my attention - but I was a huge fan of the fact that Lacey definitely made it a point to stay out of/not instigate any drama... Yet she didn't back down when provoked.

What does Amanda Fugate-Moss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the narrator for Lacey, I feel her voice matched how I perceived the character perfectly.... Tho I found the male voices a bit silly, kinda nasally and nerdy for lack of a better word.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did find myself in my car listening to "one more chapter" and wearing my ear buds during housework and barn chores when I normally wouldn't have been.

Any additional comments?

Totally worth the listen! I'm looking fwd to book 2 in the series!

Dare to Kiss: The Maxwell Series, Book 1

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

This novel is young adult with emphasis on adult. The plot is well developed, but a little too much stress on PTSD. It is obvious the female protagonist suffers from it. The relationship development between Lacey and supporting characters holds the listener interest. The climax built well, but the ending felt lacking. This is supposed to be first in a series, so maybe additional books will make up for the ending. I will listen to more if available .

The narration was well done. The characters were excellently portrayed.
