My life is like a prison.

I may be one of the world’s biggest popstars, but I live no fairy tale.

Everything I do is controlled by my manager. It’s the only way I don’t hurt anyone again.
The only way to be free.

Until I meet him.
Sandy Thorne.
He comes into my life full of color, passion and snark, and despite irritating me to no end, he makes me believe in happy ever afters.

But can I trust myself? Can I trust that I won’t hurt him?

And what does it really mean to be free and happy?

Caution: Contains an oppressed popstar, a sassy color-blind stylist, a Christmas concert ball, and the color pink. So much pink!

Hair & Heart is part of the MM Fairy Tale Romance series. All books are completely standalone and are modern retellings of classic fairy tales with a gay romance twist.

Rhys Everly-Lawless is a hopeless romantic who loves happily-ever-afters.

This story is so well done. You can see the nod to the Rapunzel story yet this take is fresh and intriguing. You see the depths someone would go to for money. You also see the power love has to lift someone out of a dark place even if you don’t realize you are there. While the story is has some dark moments there is still plenty of whit and snarky to balance it out. I really enjoyed this story very much. #CMCon24

Our villain Uncle Fred was a good one! He used manipulation and was willing to hurt his nephew and others to maintain control of his nephew and pop star Val King and his fortune. Our couple Val and Sandy were crazy, fall in love fast, lustful, snarky with one another and fun! Val lost it all but gained more by being his own creative self with Sandy by his side! I enjoyed this one and couldn’t put it down until I reached the HEA.

Read this story in two days while having to get two root canals on that second day. Everything about this story made me engrossed, happy, mad (at Fred) and giggly. The perfect book to get me through something that typically requires Valium at a minimum! Loved it Rhys, thanks so much!

I enjoyed the storyline of the pop star, Val, kept away from the public and his every move controlled. His mental illness appeared to need to be kept under control.

Recently fired stylist, Sandy, gets a shot at being Vals stylist which would be amazing for him.

Val and Sandy at first seemed to give each other a hard time and it was funny, then it got old. Its difficult to read conversations of people who don't ever seem to turn off the snarky persona. It wasn't funny as much trading insults. For me I didn't really like the characters. I thought it'd be better if the insults and banter were toned down. Hard to feel a romance between characters when they don't seem to really like each other.

Anyhow, my personal opinion. Storyline great, characters not so much.

This was a interesting twist to a great fairytale. I enjoyed the storyline it had lots of twists and ups and downs. The characters are very well defined. You have wonderful interesting and fun MC and you have a super bad guy who was a real jerk. Great from start to finish.

This has been the best written book of this series for me. It combined amazingly sexy scenes with good humor, a great plot and who doesn’t love a Britney parallel?! I don’t think I’ve been so turned on by a book in awhile... I may be a new Rhys fan...

A retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale, with a couple of twists. Val (the Rapunzel character) is a famous rock star "the Prince of Pop", trapped not in an actual tower, but in a "virtual tower". Due to a mental illness, Val is under the guardianship of his uncle who holds complete control over his finances and his freedom--this is Val's "virtual tower" entrapment. Val's mental illness is under control as long as he takes his medication religiously, but he does crazy things when he's off his medications.

Sandy is a stylist to the rich and famous, who has just been fired by his last client. Val is about to launch a new video and is badly in need of a stylist for the occasion, and Sandy fits the bill. When Sandy and Val meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. Sandy tries to rescue Val from his invisible prison, but Val is afraid--what if he descends back into a psychotic episode and hurts someone? What if he hurts Sandy like he has hurt others, can he take that chance? Their relationship starts out rocky, with a supervillain in their midst, but love wins in the end.

I thought this to be a good modern version of the Rapunzel fairytale. I really liked both of the MCs. I liked their banter back and forth. All in all, a good story.

I enjoyed a lot this retelling of the classic Rapunzel with a MM twist. The original story of Val and Sandy is beautiful and entertaining. The way in which the author compared the popstar's life with Rapunzel's tower and all the little details he used because their simbolism in the classic tale was simply brilliant. A wonderful fairytale!

An unexpectedly fun and higly entertaining read inspite of having a slightly dark theme. Val and Sandy could not have been more perfect for each other with both of them seeing a whole array of colors that the world has to offer. I love the witty banter and the snarky comments from both men and I want Isha as my bff too! We all need an Isha in our lives! Love the book...could not recommend it enough, will definitely read the rest of the series and everything Rhys Everly (and Lawless!) is now on my tbr list!!!

I enjoyed the beginning and the end, a little bit of the middle was boring for me, but the thrill of the building suspense made the slightly boring bit worth working through. A good story, a neat plot as a twist on the Rapunzel fairytale.
