The Neighbor War: A Romantic Comedy (Only in Atlanta Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 4,245 ratings

Aiden Shaw is the smuggest, most infuriating man I’ve ever met. Ever. He’s also my next door neighbor.

We’ve been at war for four bitter years. But last night, Aiden crossed a line.

The worst part? My public humiliation was caught on camera, and the video’s a viral sensation.

Now, the entire internet is raving about our “off the charts chemistry” and “crackling sexual tension.”

Apparently, everyone is delusional. And blind.

Yet when Aiden turns up on my doorstep, asking me to pose as his girlfriend, I find myself saying yes. Even if that means taking a couples vacation with him. Yup, couples vacation. With my mortal enemy. Who I have to pretend to be madly in love with.

Great.

I can put our war on ice for a little while, Aiden Shaw.

But in the end, someone’s gotta lose.

And it’s not going to be me.

The Neighbor War is a laugh-out-loud funny, swoony, closed door romantic comedy. Expect some mild language and suggestive jokes alongside sizzling hot chemistry and tension you could cut with a knife—all without the explicit scenes.

I’ve read many novels where there is a male lead and female who start from somewhere then they make mistakes- sometimes misunderstandings happen- but in the end there’s a happily ever after. But, this story was WOW! Doesn’t have enough words to describe it. This is the first time I’ve read a story from Katie Bailey, but this was the best one I’ve ever read. I love Courtney the best girl- she was most beautiful in my eyes and the funniest throughout the novel. She was imperfect yet perfect in her own way. I was mostly laughing because of Courtney and her choice of words. Then, comes Aiden- the most caring and loving and understanding guy (also the misunderstood). He was the man everyone dreams of but Courtney got him. The three days were enough for both of them to know each other and clear their misunderstandings about each other. Aiden never like NEVER gave Courtney a chance to feel hurt or unworthy (even though she did feel unworthy of him which was clear when they talked) he was the best man in the novel and my most and #1 favorite from now on. He cleared her suspicions about herself which I love - this was the best part of story btw. She decided to give herself a chance after Aiden motivated and supported her. They both were the perfectly imperfect couple ever.

    Especially when they’re neighbors, right?

Aiden and Courtney’s story was a blast to read and I really enjoyed the banter. Like some other reviewers have noted, I’m personally a fan of a little more steam in my romance stories but I truly didn’t miss it here. The character development and dialogue were strong and I loved their dynamic throughout the story.

There are a couple of incorrect details when it comes to Courtney’s health struggles (my youngest son was diagnosed at age 2 so I’m unfortunately far too familiar) but I know the author researched and did the best she could; I didn’t find the medical inaccuracies to be off-putting since I do think Courtney’s emotional struggles with it were pretty spot-on from my family’s experience.

Overall this is a super cute and fun read and I really enjoyed it!

I had great expectations. They all died when MF heroine showed her lack of brain in every chaper. I hated her and therefore I hated HIM. The author had written better books. This is just not the case.

“I finger the buttons on my camera, wishing I could take a photo of her, capture this moment. No matter how frustrating and hot-and-cold and hell-bent on hating me Courtney may be, there is no denying the universal, inextricable, unequivocal (thank you, Words With Friends) fact that she's downright stunning. As well as a little crazy.”

It’s no secret that I will read any and everything Katie Bailey writes, and she absolutely did not disappoint with this one!

I loved Courtneys sassy remarks and quick banter with Aiden. I also really liked that towards the end she was willing to be vulnerable with him and even give up her dreams for him.
And then there’s sweet sweet Aiden. 😍 The man gave up his shoes for her, enough said. 🥹

This was a quick and fun read with lots of banter, laughs, and swoony kisses!
And while it is closed door, there are some heavier make outs, and some mild swearing throughout

This book was more enjoyable than The roommate, Courtney did not disappoint, I was grinning ear to ear during their bickering. But I had the same issue as in book 1, I just couldn't relate to the MMC, he had no flaws, felt like everything was laid out for him and constant mention of biceps and firm chests brought me out of the story.

I adored this book! We've got enemies to lovers. Forced proximity. Fake dating. Closed Door romance. He cares for her while she's sick. 🥺
Courtney is such a quirky person. She's not your typical FMC. And she really "hates" Aiden. She has a medical condition that she's really self-conscious about. What is it unfolds through the story. I appreciated this part of the plot. It makes her more realistic. Life has some struggles but you can still be happy and find love 🥰
Aiden we only see a little in THE ROOMMATE SITUATION, but I loved his character so I was so excited he got his own book! He's such a sweet guy and puts up with so much of Courtney's shenanigans. And he loves to ruffle her feathers. 😆
Hilarious, swoony story and series 👏

    🐕 SOME QUOTES:
I groveled for the second time in one evening, and therefore broke my own promise to myself twice.
But, desperate times call for desperate measures. And I am Miss Desperation. Living at 1 Desperate Road, Desperationville, Georgia.
    .....
She may be beautiful, but she’s practically a domestic terrorist.
    ....
Since we got here a few hours ago, things have been… confusing, to say the least. He’s been, in turn, hot and cold and flirty and maddening and nice. Plus, somehow, in this island paradise setting, he looks more handsome than ever. Which I can’t say I’m a fan of.

Katie Bailey's "The Neighbor War," the delightful second installment in the Only In Atlanta series, proves to be a rom-com lover's dream. Following the hilarious and endearing journey of Courtney and Aiden, Bailey masterfully utilizes dual first-person narration to immerse readers in their love-hate relationship. If you're a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope and live for witty repartee, this book is your perfect match.

Having eagerly anticipated this release after "The Roommate Situation," I found "The Neighbor War" to be both hilarious and utterly charming. It's a quick read, yet it leaves a lasting impression with its clever banter and the palpable tension between the protagonists. Aiden's character development is particularly noteworthy, showcasing Bailey's skill in creating multifaceted characters that evolve meaningfully throughout the story.

Courtney's journey towards vulnerability and honesty is equally compelling, though it may leave readers impatiently urging her to reveal her true feelings. The book's language is spicier than its predecessor, which might catch some fans by surprise.

Overall, "The Neighbor War" is a joyous romp through the ups and downs of romance, marked by engaging dialogue, memorable characters, and heartwarming growth.

I found this book to be interesting and romantic. I felt sorry for Aiden a few times and thought that Courtney was taking the antagonising of Aiden too far, but in the end it all fitted well.

This is a story of two imperfect people finding love and if that's what you're looking for, then this is the book for you.

Also, if you read the first book of this series, you have Jessica and Connor still making appearances and adding to the story which is very sweet.
