City boy seeks small town romance with country girl chasing big city dreams. An unexpected internship takes graphic designer Zoe Wilson to New York City. Experience has taught her that pouring her heart into her work is better than pinning her dreams on a man. Especially one her Art House friends think she should like.
Nick has everything he could ever want, except a wife. Most of the socialites he knows are more interested in what his money can do for them, than the good it could do for the world. Down to earth Zoe isn’t interested in him or his billions and puts him in the friend zone. Too bad Nick can't stop thinking about her.
Lost in the City, Zoe is forced to turn to the one person she wants to avoid, Nick. As their friendship grows, they both learn lessons in trust. A #MeToo incident from her past tests their relationship. Can love be more than just words?
Lorin Grace was born in Colorado and has been moving around the country ever since, living in eight states and several imaginary worlds. She holds a degree in graphic design which comes in handy with creating book covers. Currently, she lives with her husband, and a dog who is insanely jealous of her laptop. When not writing, Lorin enjoys creating graphics, visiting historical sites, museums, painting furniture, and reading. Three of her books, her debut novel, Waking Lucy (2017), Mending Fences (2018), and Not the Bodyguard’s Baby (2020) have won Recommend Read awards in the League of Utah Writers Published book contest.
There's a reason why I absolutely love this series and have continued to read every book. The characters are so well written, their stories and emotions are written in such a way that I have instantly connected with them. Lorin Grace is a very talented author.
If you haven't read any of the Artists and Billionaires books, can I just very kindly (but emphatically) tell you to go and do so now. Seriously, right now! These books follow 6 roommates and I absolutely adore each and every one of them. I start to think that I have a favorite one of them and then I read the next roommate's story and change my mind. I honestly don't think I could pick a favorite. They're all unique and amazing ladies. You might be a little skeptical about the whole billionaire thing but I loved how Lorin Grace connected it together and made it plausible in her stories. With the billionaire love story trope being very popular right now, this is a series about Billionaires that you don't want to miss.
Zoe is the roommate who fits in, but not completely. She's not quite the same type of artist like the other roommates. Her medium is very different than the other 5. She's a graphic designer. An art form of art for sure but different than the others. She sits in the shadows sometimes compared to the other ladies, she's quiet and then she's not. She's opinionated. And I loved getting to know her story in this book. I often wondered about her in the first four books. Who was she? What had happened in her past. She has a quiet dignity and grace about her.
I was not expecting her story to be what it was. But I loved seeing her strength and grace of character that I had been admiring previously, shine through. Her thoughts about the Art House curse and billionaires is pretty funny as you're reading each book in the series, and then to watch her love story unfold. Loved it! Not everything is easy and wonderful in her story. There are heartaches from the past that are still hurting and Zoe is still trying.
Nick was the perfect person to meet Zoe and have a connection with her. I loved watching his gentle manor and kindness towards Zoe and everyone else he interacts with. If anyone can gain Zoe's trust it is definitely Nick. A sweet love story and one of my favorites. I know I said I can't easily pick a favorite but this one is a favorite (even if they all are).
A bonus aspect of this novel, Candace's love story is continuing to be built up. We've seen it building since book one. And guess what...I read it right after finishing this book. I couldn't wait! So now I am going to write that review. But without spoiling anything, Candace's love story is my favorite. And Hallelujah! It was about time. No that's not referring to Candace getting her story written, but about her love story. Ok, I'm going to save that for my review of Mending Hearts. *deep contented happy sigh*
Again, if you haven't read this series, you need to NOW! Just do yourself that favor and go enjoy them.
Content: Clean. Talk about a character having been raped in the past and a female character getting attacked in the present. The book doesn't go into detail and isn't graphic. I thought that the author did a great job of showing this sensitive topic in her story. I was really grateful of her tender way of writing about it. Of showing how this character was affected and healing. How the character was learning to be strong and powerful again. That it wasn't her fault and that she shouldn't feel shamed or blamed for what happened. This can be a very sensitive subject but I loved how it was handled and written.
Zoe Wilson got an internship that was helping her to realize her dreams. Even before graduation, she was offered a wonderful opportunity to work for a large design firm in New York City. She was a farmer's daughter living in the big city living her dream.
Nick Gooding was a billionaire real estate investor who had everything he ever wanted, except a wife and family. When he met Zoe, there were sparks, but she was determined to keep him in the friend zone. She didn't care about his wealth and had trust issues. She had been assaulted two years earlier and she wasn't ready to begin dating and certainly not to a rich guy who could have any woman he wanted. But, Nick only wanted Zoe. She was kind and sweet and everything he wanted. He was ok with just being her friend, for now.
Was it possible for there to be more or would they forever just remain friends? Could Nick prove to Zoe that he could love her and protect her and she could trust him?
I have read several books by this author and have enjoyed every one of them. I especially liked this one because it deaIt with the difficult issue of what happens to the victim when they are assaulted and how, many times, they are victimized over and over again by the media, and the lies that are spread about them.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my review.
This book dealt with hard things. It did it well. While we "witness" the assault it is only graphic enough for us to feel the horror of the situation without being too horrible. This is a romance but dealing with the aftermath of a media frenzy based on falsehoods becomes a main part of the story because it also effects the romance relationship. Far too many women have a #metoo experience of their own so you probably need to think about how you'll react to reading this one. My own #metoo wasn't as traumatic as this one so it wasn't overly difficult for me to read but it could be for some. It was sickening to think about how many people have had this kind of experience though. But perhaps the more we talk about it the better we are as a society. While most of the people in the book responded positively to the victim, we also saw the horribly opposite responses that unfortunately happen in real life too.
This is book 5 in the series but the first one I have read. The story works on its own but I could see that it would be much better to read the other books first. I spent a lot of energy trying to figure out who all the characters were. They'd obviously been introduced in previous books. It would have been more enjoyable to meet to them in the earlier books instead of asking myself who this person is. This isn't the fault of the book so much as my fault for reading them out of order.
I really liked Nick as the hero but I think my favorite character was actually Sebastian. So sweet.
Sex: Some kisses. Sexual violence against women. Language: no Violence: Sexual assault. Self defense actions.
Finding herself in the Big Apple, small-town girl and artist Zoe has much to learn. She discovers not only a new job but a very different lifestyle to which she is accustomed. She does have help from her eclectic mix of colleagues, but mostly from millionaire Nick who discovers that he cannot get her out of his head after being part of the wedding party of their best friends. Not everything Zoe discovers is exhilarating and exciting as she finds that there is a darkness in people no matter where you come from. Fortunately, Nick and Sebastian are there for her at every turn and the ties of friendship extend way beyond the dorm room from college days. This book is generally well written with a good plot. It is part of a series and in spite of the fact that a number of characters from previous novels appear in this book too, the story is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I love this series and this newest addition did not disappoint. I love that Nick Gooding was brought back and that he got a HEA with Zoe. The author covered some sensitive topics, but I thought she handled it very well and helped us understand them better. I loved how loving and sensitive Nick was throughout the entire book. Zoe had things to work through and figure out and thankfully she had her wonderful Art House sisters and Nick to help her. I can't wait for the next book!
Another glorious book in this wonderful series. I just can't help but fall more and more in love with each character as the stories process. This one was inventive, fun, and so utterly romantic. Lorin Grace paints a vivid picture straight from her imagination onto the pages of our ebooks and for that I thank her!
What a beautiful story about Zoe Wilson and Nick Gooding. I enjoyed how realistic Zoe's character seemed in what she went through. She is strong and courageous, although at times she struggled to remember that. I like the message this book sends to readers too. Very nicely written! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Mending Words with the Billionaire - This book had so many lessons for everyone. Gossip can cause irrevocable damage. Victimizing a victim is shameful. Justice should come from the system and not the media. The beauty of this story is the value of friends that believe you and stand by you. Well written!
Loren Grace took a sensitive topic - rape - and told a beautiful story of how lives were affected and then turned around. Anyone who has ever been in this situation or known someone in this situation will appreciate how well Ms. Grace told this story.
This is another winner in the Artists and Billionaires series. Ms. Grace handled a hard subject with grace. Zoe doesn’t want to be friends with billionaire Nick. But does she in the end? The book was hard to put down and I found myself reading late into the night.
This was a fun read, and I loved the main characters. However, it just didn't feel that much different than so many other romance novels I've read, lately.
Zoe's story is a difficult one. There were hints in the previous stories that she had been through something tough.
This book is not a downer - it tells her story in a positive way - but if you're looking for something light and fluffy, this isn't that either. It has a lot of happy & fun things to offset the difficult at least, with a very sweet happily-ever-after.
I wasn't entirely sure what I thought of Nick in Sean & Tessa's story, but now I know he's a modern knight in shining armor that's almost too good to be true!
Clean romance level: sweet kisses
Trigger warning: this book depicts one character attempting to sexually assault another and the aftermath
Mending Words with the Billionaire is a clean, well-written romance that addresses a serious subject. Lorin Grace wrote in a manner that gave sexual assault the seriousness due it without any graphic details, and managed to do so in a heartwarming romance. I really liked the main characters, Zoe and Nick. They both had great friendships that added so much to the story. The plot has twists and turns and moves at a good pace. The setting is New York City. I would definitely read more from this author and highly recommend this book to clean romance readers and to Christian fiction/romance readers. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this outstanding story.
This book was amazing. I couldn't put it down. Zoe has a standoffish-way about her that tends to keep men at bay. Nick saw the barriers and decided to scale those walls one date at a time. The chemistry between the two was great. I like that Nick was sensitive to Zoe during an incident at her workplace. This book touches on the #METOO campaign. The author did a good job of showing what can happen to the victims during and after sexual harassment/assault. I highly recommend this book to those that enjoy books about women overcoming and sweet clean romance.
There is some very serious subject matter in this book, but I really enjoyed the story and liked how the subject was handled.
The characters were likable and relatable. I started reading this book first, then found out it is the fifth in a series. I look forward to reading the whole series.
I chose to read and review this book. I like this genre of books. I enjoyed reading this one. It is well written, the plot, the characters and the flow of events were great. It is a very sweet, romantic and captures your heart in the cutest way ever.
This is an outstanding and powerful message of love healing and understanding that will endear you with it's touching and heartwarming moments as well as their sweet romance.
Mending Words with the Billionaire is book five in the Artists & Billionaires series. For the most part, I thought this was a good book. I liked the hero - Nick Gooding. Unfortunately, there are numerous editing errors that make the story confusing at times. The texting paragraphs are often riddled with the wrong character “speaking”. The pace of the plot takes a while to pick up, but once it does the book is hard to put down. This is a sweet romance with a few kisses.
Zoe has been through a lot of crap. The author has written an endearing, wonderful character. While Nick is interesting, she is magnetic. A very good, modern plot, excellent wording and I could NOT stop reading.
Assault and harassment at school or work IA a difficult subject, but this book brought out some emotions I would not have thought of. Well done. Good clean romance.
