Don't kidnap a weretiger unless you're ready to have your ass kicked...
Bethany Black is a rookie cop in the New York Paranormal Police Department (PPD). She's fast as hell, tougher than nails, and she's got no problem with blowing up stuff.
She also turns into a ferocious tiger when she gets sufficiently pissed off.
New York City is where the supernatural mob snagged its foothold back in the day. Goblins had poured in from the Netherworld and taught locals how to properly manage the criminal climate. They sold protection, rattled cages, and raked their fingers across the back of honest society.
It took years and tons of Paranormal Police Department officers to gain back control.
But now the city is on the brink of falling apart.
The PPD lost half its uniformed cops during an all-out war with a nasty mage, and the latest mob boss is looking to capitalize.
Translation: Blood, blood, and a bit more blood.
Too bad the mafia decided to kidnap Bethany's best friend. He's only one of two remaining weretigers in existence. She's the other.
Remember what happens when Bethany gets pissed off?
Yeah, well, she's seriously pissed off...

John P. Logsdon is a former game designer, producer, and software engineer who shamelessly digs into the deep recesses of his mind to bring forth oddball characters and hilarious plots. He writes primarily in fantasy, urban fantasy, and science fiction, but he's also dabbled in cozy mystery from time to time. To see John's vast library of laughs, visit www.johnplogsdon.com.
I have to admit to a love of action-filled, intense urban fantasy. I love plot and characters, but sometimes I crave an action-packed book. This book definitely fit the bill. I’ve read books in this universe, too, and loved every single one because they all generally fit that bill. However, for some reason, this one just really hit all my reading buttons. I loved the protagonist Bethany, and I loved how earnest she is about working for the PPD. She’s been training her whole life practically! LOL! I can’t wait to see what she is going to do next. Check this out if you like the other books in the PPD universe, or even if you haven’t tried one before; you’re in for a treat. I do highly recommend!
kindle unlimited, been following the different PPD books as they come out, and have to say that have really liked every one of them, well except one which for whatever reason didn't resonate with me in any way, but the 'universe' of the PPD as with any universe sometimes that happens regardless of how much you like them overall, and the list below will show you all of the books by John P. Logsdon {this one cowritten with Ben Zackheim who has his on list of book on amazon as well} in the PPD universe as well as his other books. If you wondered, as I do, about Logsdon's sanity, be very aware that with this book even with new cowriter you'll still be wondering. *** THOUSANDS OF READERS HAVE LAUGHED, CHEERED, AND GROANED WITH THE PARANORMAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. Pride will kill you. Weretigers are on the verge of extinction because of their extreme pride. Bethany Black is one of the last two weretigers on the planet. She'll be the last one if she can't find her weretiger friend Mike. On her very first day as a PPD officer, Mike is kidnapped by a new threat that's terrorizing New York City. Now, Bethany has to choose between knowing her place or following her gut.
But when she gets partnered up with veteran PPD officer, the infamous pixie Max Shakespeare, Bethany has zero wiggle room. He scrutinizes her every move, giving her crap with nearly each step she takes. One major mistake and she could be sent back to the Netherworld. With the city of New York hanging in the balance, along with her best friend and her entire species, Bethany must find a way to swallow her pride and find her place in the dangerous world of the goblin mafia, rogue vampires, and one stupidly horny wizard.
If you like Jim Butcher, Domino Finn, Michael Anderle, M. D. Massey, Rick Gualtieri, Orlando A. Sanchez, K.F. Breene, Shayne Silvers, Ilona Andrews, Brad Magnarella, Patricia Briggs, or Kim Harrison...you'll love the first book from the New York Paranormal Police Department.

How much brighter can you burn when you are one of only two weretigers left in the entire world? Being rare and cherished is not all it’s cracked up to be as the newest rookie in the PPD world shows us. Bethany Black is the last female weretiger in existence. She has been raised and pampered at an installment called The Zoo. Unfortunately for Bethany, and the world, the only other weretiger in existence is a gay male, so the future isn’t looking good. . As Bethany chafes at the restrictions placed on her at The Zoo, she hatches a plan to apply for the PPD and fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a part of the paranormal police department. What Bethany finds when her wish is unexpectedly granted, is much less dream and much more nightmare. As she deals with a pissed off pixie partner and her two goblin bodyguards, she must learn to bury that famous tiger pride because someone has kidnapped Mike, the other weretiger, and her best friend. And he better hope Bethany can learn from her mistakes before she gets them all killed.
Well the authors did it to me again. I could not put this book down until I had finished it. The MCs and secondary MCs were all just great in the roles that the authors put them in. Bethany was great in her need to work with the PPD. Her guardians were funny and dedicated. Max reminded me a lot of Dex except with wings. The tension just never stopped as Bethany and her crew try to get to the only other Weretiger in existence except for herself and save him from his evil kidnappers. Graham and Fay are two people who are underestimated, but have a big part in the book. Evil, danger, bloodshed, treachery, mystery, tension, angst, grief, loyalty and dedication all put this book on the A list. The ending is an almost HFN ending with a sit up for another in the series. Couldn't ask for better. Now I want the authors to hurry up and write the next one in this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Opening this book introduces the next branch of the Paranormal Police Department, and the most intriguing leading character yet (not just saying that because of the name!). Meet Bethany Black, and follow along on her introduction to the NY PPD. Ben and John have created a realistic, relatable female lead whose "nose" for trouble gets her into situations she could have avoided, but give her a chance to learn a bit about who she is. There are hints of the flavor of NYC through the book, and as you turn pages, the descriptions paint vivid pictures of the City. Action-packed and fast-paced, Blood Claws is a great start to the adventures of another branch of the PPD.
There are only two weretigers left in the world, one male and one female. The only problem is Mike not into women. Also being that last two, Bethany has lived in the zoo all her life. But one day Mike tells her that PPD is hiring, and that has been her dream job since a cub. After much talk, and pleading, she is allowed to join.
To only have her first case be to find a kidnapped Mike, her weretiger friend.
Throw in her bodyguards, Lou and Bob ex-mob goblins, a Pixie boss, Max, who seems to have a chip on their shoulder, along with an Elf and a were whatever, and you have a great story.
Another new recruit to the PDP This one being the last living female weretiger, the last male weretiger alas has no interest in this or any tigress, and likely the last ever weretiger who has yearned to join the ranks despite having spent her entire life under the protection of two goblins in a zoo. When the chance to enlist arrives she pounced but thinking she knows it all the usual JPL chaos ensues and when her lifelong tiger friend is kidnapped a rescue of titanic proportions is played out by a mix of failures and misfits. The expected twists and turns fill the pages resulting in another PDP tale that is hard to put down once started.
John Logsdon and Ben Zackheim have delivered an exciting world to the Paranormal Police Department series. Blood Claws follows Bethany Black's introduction into the PPD and the gritty streets of New York City. This book grips you from the first paragraph and doesn't let go until the end. It is full of frenzied chases, magical creatures and, of course, snark. This first installment of a Bethany Black Supernatural Thriller should not be missed. I can't wait for the next one!
A rookie cop, a sheltered endangered species, and a want-to-be hero walk into a NY bar. The punchline? It's all the same person. Bethany Black, one of only two weretigers left in existence, chases her dream of joining the PPD, much to the chagrin of her handlers and veteran PPD officers. At least she doesn't have to train under a pixie. Oh, wait... But when her best friend is kidnapped, she has to overcome training, her preconceptions of cop-dom, her own naivety, and the odds to avoid becoming the ONLY weretiger alive. This read was a blast.
We finally get to see what the Paranormal Police Department looks like in New York. Bethany, one of the last 2 weretigers in existence finally achieves her dream of joining the PPD. Unfortunately for her 1) the other weretiger is kidnapped and 2) she's not particularly good at following instructions. With instinct pulling her one way and orders the other, she is not the instant hero she thought she'd be. There is plenty of action and plenty of sass. Lots of fun and I look forward to the next book. Because Bethany will have to get an upgrade to her living quarters, right?
The PPD welcomes yet another kick ass female as Berhany Black makes an appearance. With a lifelong dream of joining the force she comes with a lot of backage being the last female weretiger left. This will not stop her being the best screwup rookie on the force however as she tries to win respect from the rest of the precinct. When the last male weretiger is CatNapped haha the claws come out and she comes into her own a great adventure and a worthy addition to an expanding PPD universe
This is a great first book in a series. The authors have found the perfect balance in the female protagonist. Bethany is not needy, bitchy or superhero perfect. She is relatable. She reminds me of the new graduates who would start their career all gung-ho and confident until reality hits them in their face. It is funny and there is plenty of action. One scene was like the PPD version of American Ninja Warriors. I cannot wait for the next book.
This book definitely deserves a look, set in New York PPD we follow Bethany Black one of the last two Weretigers left, as she joins the PPD and finds her first case is to find her best friend Mike who has been kidnapped and just happens to be the only other weretiger around. If you haven’t read any of the other PPD books this is a great one to start you’ll soon be hooked.
Awesome beginning to the P.P.D. in New York City. Bethany Black has wanted to join the Paranormal Police Department all her young life. Now she finally gets the chance. But as the last female Were Tiger alive, her species must be protected. When her friend, the last male Were Tiger is kidnapped, Rookie Bethany must help rescue him. No matter the cost. How many will get hurt or die, because of her Rookie mistakes ?
A most pleasing story with the last female weretiger living her dream of joining the paranormal police and her tribulations when reality doesn't match the dream. The story flows smoothly as warm soft butter on silky white bread with intriguing characters, exciting plot lines, and skillful writing. I look forward to reading more in this fun series. Good job, John Logsdon.
A collaboration between two of my favourite UF authors, this new setting for the PPD, New York, does not disappoint. The humour is as good as ever and we have an insight into the life of a critically endangered species, and the lengths to which the unscrupulous will go to possess them. Loved it and can't wait to read more of Bethany the Weretigress' adventures as a new recruit to the PPD.
This book is a great new addition to the PPD family. The characters are well written and fun to get to know and the story is fast-paced and well put together. You will have a hard time putting this one down, I know I did. I am looking forward to the next books to come out.
Only 2 waretigers and one wants to be a paranormal police officer. Love the PPD and this New York installment was great. Bethany has a lot to learn, even if she thinks she knows what she's doing. She's tough and smart with a little to much pride. Fun, fast paced read.
Entertaining plot and characters. It should be interesting to see where the authors take this 'last two weretigers in the world" concept. I enjoyed this first book and look forward to getting the next one.
I had an interesting time with this book. BB made me cringe a time or two before her "Pride will kill you" mantra. I think she and Max will be a great team and I am eager for the next book. Maybe they will let her out off the PPD storeroom.
And does a fantastic job! Bethany Black is one of two remaining weretigers in the world. When the other is kidnapped, she is on the hunt to find out who took him.
If you have read any of Ben's Relic series, then check this book out. New world, but still the great story telling and snark.
A great new addition to the PPD universe. Bethany fits right in with the PPD crowd, a few lingering childhood issues, a need to prove herself, an attitude that sometimes manifests as anger management issues, perfect. Being part of the PPD is Bethany's dream and it seems to be working out for her. Can't wait to read more!
My first introduction to the PPD was a pretty good read. An interesting set of main characters and I’m looking forward to more New York adventures. Time to check out the other books in this universe.
DNF are we sure the h is a tiger? Bethany come across as really young & reminds me of an overly excitable Pomeranian not a fierce tiger. I could not go on.
Interesting story and characters that have been made to interact. I loved the series with the Elves so wanted to read this series. The other was better.
