Publisher's summary

She never realized until she lost him that he was the only man she’d ever love.

Katy and Steven were the loves of each other’s lives until a tragedy and the fallout of Steven’s injuries drove the couple apart.

They share a son, but Katy and Steven have moved on with their lives, dating other people, and neither has seen the other in five long years. But when Steven comes knocking on Katy’s parents’ door after learning she’s back in town, Katy is forced to face her estranged husband and the love that broke her heart, and his intentions regarding their all-but-over marriage are soon made very clear.

The only problem is that as simple as it would be for them to walk away, seeing just what it means to move on and start a new life may not be as easy as they once thought.

Good book

I like this book because the story was so realistic but katie’s parents made me so mad I felt bad for her. Steven‘s mom oh what a witch and Stevens girlfriend what a piece of work I wanted to slap her. But it really was a good book

A great addition to the series, more Katy & Steven

It Was Always You is another story in The Friessens saga that focuses on Katy and Steven. Their story began in First Love, on of the first books I read by Ms. Eckhart. They are also the main couple in Family First and Leave the Light On. You don't really need to have read those books to enjoy It Was Always You but I would recommend it if you like reading series in order.

Steven and Katy were so young and in love in First Love but then things got difficult for them after Steven was severely injured. They've been apart for sometime now and need to finally settle things between them.

Steven wants Katy to sign the divorce papers he's had for more than a year. Katy wants to take their son (who has been staying with her parents) back to live with her where she's started a new career. Needless to say, things don't go too well.

This story is a bit longer than some of the others I've read in this series and it has a lot of depth to it. Once I started listening to it, I couldn't stop and finished it in one day.

This is the first book I've listened to by Lili Dubuque and I really enjoyed her voice. One small thing kept me from giving her 5 stars (I'm pretty picky about audiobooks). There were several places where the inflection in her voice was off for the text that was being read. It's hard to explain in this review and it wasn't enough of a problem to keep me from loving this story. I wouldn't mind listening to additional books narrated by her.

I am really looking forward to more audiobooks in this series.

I received a free Audible code from the author but this review was voluntary and not influenced by the free gift.

Another great Friessen story

Lorhainne Eckhart never disappoints. I could just keep going from one of her books to the next. Wait! That's exactly what I'm doing. I've already started another.

I Wasn't Sure What to Expect

The premise of the book "It was Always You" is original in the fact that the main characters were married to each other and yet were estranged and had current love interests. I wasn't sure if the complicated relationship would have the HEA that I was looking for. I honestly was not disappointed. I felt that the main couple had their families working against them. Lorhainne Eckhart wrote a great book that captured my attention and Lili Dubuque performed it flawlessly. She gave distinguishable voices to the various characters. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

nice story

I liked the story a lot. It was an unconventional story(both the characters had love interests and were fighting for custody of a child they shared). The narrator was a little annoying but got the job done. Since the main characters were technically married they did cross a line but I'm not sure an audience would see it that way since her SO was blink-you-miss-it, and his fiancee was a spiteful person.

The real thing I didn't connect to was how no one was responsible for anything. Both MCs weren't once fit to be parents at one point, and while I understood the author wasn't trying to put blame on anyone, a child doesn't care if you're injured or have a breakdown. They wanted their child when "they" wanted him, even though he was settled with his grandparents. I do believe parents should have parental rights, but not if they both hadn't done the work but want to reap the benefits.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Overall it was a HEA and I liked it.

It Was Always You!

"It Was Always You" is a very interesting story. It is a fairly short and quick read, or in my case, listen. I listened to this on audible and the narrator did a great job with this emotional read. The story is about Katy and Steven. So the story was very frustrating for me and I have mixed feelings on it overall. The characters have been apart for several years and are on the verge of a divorce. They have both suffered heartache and challenges. An emotional story!

An excellent story. Unlike a lot of romance stories I consume, this story has some depth and left me thinking. It was always you is about a married couple who coming into contact after many years apart. Each has been through hard times together and separately. Through most of the story they try to come to a resolution with their son and a divorce?

Lili Dubuque did a fabulous job narrating. She portrayed each character with their varied emotions and atmosphere
Throughout, it was easy to get lost in the story.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story in exchange for a honest review.

Getting Divorced ... or Not

After years apart, a couple finds it harder to sign the final papers and end their marriage than they'd expected in this second chance romance.
It's a good story with a cute kid, a couple who'd been damaged by circumstances beyond both of their control and a conviction that for some people, even moving on won't scratch the itch of a first love.
