Loved it!

This was my first Lorin Grace's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Hastings Security Series. This is a good Second chance to love. Adam and September are great characters. September, a signer, is a lovely woman, who deals with a postpartum depression (PPD). Adam, a bodyguard, is handsome, caring and protective. He is also September's former bodyguard. They got their second chance to love in this heartwarming story. The storyline has suspense and intrigue. I love the ending. Louis B. Jack is a new narrator to me. He did a great job with the narration. Looking forward for the next book in the Series. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

romantic clean contemporary romance

A wonderful contemporary romance with some suspense.  This engaging storyline deals with real life issues, but written beautifully, where she has September setting aside her fears and facing head on the wrongs of her past. It a clean standalone that includes suspense, mystery, friendship, healing, family, stalker, protectiveness, and love.  It is told in dual POV and a standalone in part of a series so you can meet new characters and follow up on previous. The narrator does an amazing job in portraying this in great story with a HEA.

Loved the story!!!

Great story, loved every minute of it and looked forward to listening. A little distracting having a male narrator for a book focused on women's issues, but not so much that it stopped me from enjoying the story.

(4.5 stars) Original take on a 2nd chance romance

What a great story, while also being an excellent way to learn about Post Partum Depression!

Adam gets called to the office with some surprising news - he's a dad! Except it would have to be a miraculous pregnancy, cuz he knows he wasn't a participant, so the baby can't be his.

September - Adam's former client - has been going thru a lot by the time she has her baby. When PPD hits on top of all her other stress & she nearly does the unthinkable, she knows she desperately needs help, so she leaves her baby with the man she trusts more than any other, but she has to make sure CPS won't take the baby so she claims Adam's the dad.

The story tells us generally, but with some of the highlights, what happens once September is admitted to the hospital for treatment. Which was an excellent way to handle it, IMO. We don't need a textbook report - just enough to enable some basic awareness of symptoms & understanding of the condition. The author successfully provides an effective balance between the info & the story.

The story draws you in with a little added suspense from secondary characters who definitely don't have September's best interests at heart.

The wrap up includes a plot point that just makes you so moved by September's strength to do what's right & best rather than what's easiest. And the happily-ever-after is sweetly satisfying!

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses

[The narrator's voice was a little surprising at first & I wasn't sure it would work well, but he was actually pretty good at reading naturally & distinguishing the characters' voices. I had no problem immersing in the story without being distracted]

Yup, Loved this audio book

“Not the Bodyguard's Baby” by Lorin Grace
Yup, loved this audio book. A suspense filled story with a touch of romance… or is it a romance story with a touch of suspense. Well either way it is an easy read and a clean story, too. A story that I marathon read because I just couldn’t shut it down and go to sleep. A worthy read. Happy Reading ! !
Note: I requested and received a copy of this story from the author. Color me lucky !

A great second chance HEA

I really enjoyed this audiobook! I liked how the author took a very bad experience but kept the focus on the positives and didn’t go too in-depth with the dark emotions or physically aggressive situations. I enjoy reading mild HEA sweet romance stories and this was great! I enjoyed the narrator. He did well distinguishing the different characters and brought the story to life.

Not the Bodyguard’s Baby

Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book. The main characters were easy to like. Loved Mom and Dad Hastings too. There was more substance to the story than just romance, which is always nice. Adam and September seemed to resolve their past differences too easily, which in a way was a relief, just not as believable. Worth listening too, looking forward to more books in the series.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Can’t wait to read more about the Hastings

I really enjoyed this story! I liked how the women in the Hastings family were very strong women. I also liked that September, although what was dealing with was beyond difficult, down deep she was an extremely strong woman also. I enjoy The love story and I liked how the author brought attention to PPD without feeling like she was lecturing about it. I look forward to listening to more books about the Hastings!

Great story dealing with love and PPD

As someone who suffered from PPD and PPA, I really like the author’s approach to the illness. She touched on the issue September was dealing with without going into the deepest darkest depths of her despair. As a reader I understood enough of her plight and resolve to experience what she was going through.

The love story was almost secondary to me, but I didn’t feel cheated, it was sufficiently developed.

Adam and the Hastings are incredible and I must now go back and read the Abbie’s story too.

The narrator’s performance was entertaining and was easy to follow. I am always “surprised” by lone male narrations of love stories with a dual perspective, but was enjoyable. My only critique is how quickly he would transition from one point of view to the other. I wish he would have pause a little longer in between. Other than that it was a good listen.
