Can I just start this review by saying "Yay!!!!!" Ok, now that I've done that and shown my excitement, I'll explain why. This is the start of a new series by Lorin Grace. The Hastings brothers! Oh, this is going to be a great series. If you have been following this author's previous books, you'll know that she has the Artist and Billionaires series. Book #4, Mending Images, gives us our first glimpse of this family. More specifically the sister who is also a bodyguard. Well after I read that book, I just couldn't help myself but hope for a series about this family, especially Adam. And guess, what (you probably already have guessed it) THIS IS ADAM'S BOOK!

In Mending Images, Adam was a background character who seemed like he might be a little grumpy, standoffish, but was hurting from an experience he had with one of his clients. And this book shows us the background and why Adam acted the way he did in the previous book. Just because I absolutely love the Artists and Billionaires series, I'm going to suggest you read them. If you can't read them all and want to get your first taste of the Hastings family then read, Mending Images (you'll be fine reading it as a stand alone), then snag this book and enjoy!

I had a hard time setting this book down while I was reading it. Unfortunately, life was extremely busy at the time, so I only had little snippets of time. I was thinking about this book constantly and looked forward to the time that I would have to dive back into Adam and September's story. There's some mystery, some suspense, sorrow, friendship, family, healing and tender love.

Oh, I loved it! Adam is so much more than what he seems. I loved seeing the many different sides of him. Being a bodyguard he doesn't show himself completely, but this book alternated between his and September's POV and I loved being able to see his thoughts more fully.

September's story is one of a mother who loves her little one and will doing anything to protect her. The author showed September's journey of healing with PPD (Postpartum Depression). I loved how she focused on the hope and healing of PPD. Many mothers experience the "baby blues" but PPD is a more serious case of the "baby blues" that can require more medical attention and help. This book brought back some of the moments after my oldest was born and the emotions (sadness, anger and such) that I felt. I won't go into detail except to say that it is real, it can be hard but it doesn't last. If you find yourself with any degree of postpartum blues/depression, don't be afraid to reach out for help! Surround yourself with a great support group if possible.

This book had so many great moments between September and Adam! I loved their sweet love story. And Adam's mom...oh just you wait for her to have her moments in this book! His dad had more moments throughout Mending Images, but now we get to see both of his parents and I have to say that I love the Hastings family! Back to September and Adam, and baby Harmony, I loved the dynamics of these three and loved reading their story. I keep starting to tell you about a scene and then delete those thoughts because I don't want to spoil anything for you. So, my thoughts are go grab a copy and enjoy!

And don't you worry, there are plenty more Hasting brothers in this awesome family. Which of course means...more books!!! ;-)

Content: Clean. This book does deal with a couple more sensitive topics, but I thought they were well done. The author experienced PPD and has a great author's note about it at the end of the book. There is an aggressive secondary character but it doesn't get graphic. September has a baby out of wedlock and the author did a great job of showing September's choices yet didn't go into details. This book has aspects of Christian religion in it. It isn't preachy but through September's eyes she tries to find healing through the choices and mistakes she's made. I highly recommend it for Contemporary romance lovers who enjoy a little suspense and real life issues in their stories.

I received an ARC from the author but also purchased my own copy.

Happy Reading!!!

A suspenseful romance, one that grabs the reader's attention from the opening pages, this book deals with so much more than hiding out and betrayal. When Adam reads the note from September begging him to take care of her baby, even though he knows that it is not his child, he instinctively knows that September is in more trouble than he could have imagined. September is facing difficulties that most mothers have faced to some degree in their lives and every one of us can identify with sleep deprivation and trying to keep all the balls in the air after giving birth to a small baby. Her methods may not resonate with most women, but she certainly did ensure the safety of her child. More than the kiss Adam shared with September over a year before, he regrets the way in which he terminated their relationship, leaving brokenness and hurt feelings in his wake. In holding baby Harmony in his arms, he realises that he has his second chance, but before he can actually follow up on that line of thought, he first has to determine the risks she is facing and eliminate the danger that is stalking her. The plot is well thought out, giving hope to women going through the same circumstances as September, and it is well written. The romance is clean and sweet and the hero is one of the best kind of men. One can only cheer September on as she takes hold of her own life and makes the decision to confront the wrongs of the past, setting aside her own fear for the sake of a future with both Harmony and Adam. The story is a standalone and comes to a sweet and joyful close. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is the first book in a new series by Lorin Grace, about the Hastings family and this is Adam's, the oldest of the Hastings siblings, story. Working in the private security field Adam Hastings has learned to prepare for the unexpected, but I don't think anything could've prepared him for what he found upon his arrival at work one Tuesday morning. And to think he wore his brand new dark-gray suit; I hope he has good dry cleaner.

I liked that this story has both September and Adam's point of view. I enjoy dual POV because then I know what the character is thinking and not just hearing what they said or did from another character. I liked the way the author addressed Postpartum Depression (PPD), which the main female character suffers from. The author didn't gloss over it, and I could tell she had researched the topic.

There were times I wanted to lock September and Adam in a room and tell them they couldn't come out until she had told him everything that had happened since Adam quit being her bodyguard. I'm not a patient person so I can only put up with "I want to tell you but I can't/I'm not ready" for only so long. I knew once September told Adam everything it would be so much easier for them to help her.

I LOVED Mrs. Hastings, the matriarch of this family. She was the best character! You definitely don't want to mess with her. She was the perfect person to help September and September was smart for going to her when she realized she needed help. I look forward to reading about the other Hastings men in the rest of the series.

I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator was okay. He wasn't one I'd heard before.

MY TAKE
This was a wonderful introduction to characters who've obviously already had some books. I'll be searching them out. I loved this Hastings family, and my heart went out to September. It was obvious that she'd suffered a lot, but when we finally find out just how much, it's gut wrenching.
The romance between her and Adam was lovely, and this was a powerful view into post partum depression.

I requested a promotional code for the audiobook and this is my honest review. The narrator did a decent job.

This was a great book that grabbed me from the beginning. I loved the characters and how they interacted with one another. September is a celebrity that just wants to live a normal life, but is caught in a web of lies and danger. Adam, September's former bodyguard, is a man of integrity and is still in love with September. I liked seeing how September was able to rise above the trial of post-partum depression and domestic abuse. Adam had a strength of character and a protectiveness that made him more lovable. I recommend this book to those that love sweet clean romance about second chances.

This book was so good, I loved it. September was suffering from PPD and she knew person she trusted with her daughter was the man she loved. They parted ways a year ago for various reasons but none of them was because they didn't love each other. I really how neither of them blamed the other for what happened after. It wasn't their fault, September trusted the wrong people and Adam wasn't there to help, he didn't things were so bad. The way he instantly accepted Harmony was beautiful, that baby was his, no matter what DNA says. They made a fantastic couple, they wanted to make things work, no matter what. And I loved how September grew into herself and finally made decisions of her own, all because of her love for Harmony and Adam but especially of herself

This is my first book by this author. I think that story was fine. Entertaining but not necessarily exciting. I think the topic is an important one. Many women deal with postpartum depression which is more than the “baby blues”. And many others deal with domestic violence, manipulation, and more. This singer, September, had little support during her pregnancy and during her postpartum period. In addition she was under tremendous stress. She leaves her baby with Adam so she can get help for herself and so the baby is in a safe place. The problem is that Adam hasn’t seen September for nearly a year. Adam takes in the baby and try’s to help September overcome her depression and all the issues that has arisen over the last year.

I knew this book was clean romance because I’d known about this author for awhile. However, I thought it would be more along the lines the other “hot” (to call it something) romances of this genre.
I was wrong. This book was more about Postpartum Depression and the difficulties of living as a famous person and having a baby outside marriage than just a security guard falling in love with the person he’s guarding (probably because it was a more complicated situation than that).
Besides not shying away from difficult topics, I really enjoyed the family dynamics of the Hastings and the baby (will I ever not became happy when there’s babies in real life or in fiction?).
The only things I didn’t enjoy so much was feeling that a main part of the story had happened before the book started and we never got to see what happened then (was that talked about in previous books? Are there previous books?) even if it was easy enough to understand without all the details.
All in all, a good escapist read for a not-really-feeling-it day.

The suspense and romance in this story make for a book you will not be able to put down. Lorin Grace wove a beautiful story of hope following postpartum depression. The main character, September is such a brave, strong woman who has been through so much and with help from a clinic she is able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. How hard it must be for people in the public eye to suffer from postpartum depression. The final pages of the touching story will put a warm smile on your face. There is a sexy, confident leading man too and it is fun to watch him with baby, Harmony. You have to love the men from Hasting's Security and the Hasting's family. I cannot wait to read more books in this series! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I am so excited for this series! I loved getting to know the Hastings in the Artist and Billionaire series and love that the brothers are getting their own series. This was very different than what I expected. It was a very serious topic, though shown in a hopeful light, but still went deeper than I was expecting, but I think that is something I love about Lorin Grace's books. She's not afraid to talk about the hard issues in life and shed hope on the subject. Adam and September are beautiful people and their story is beautiful.

Adam and September have a past and possibly a future. Will a baby keep them apart or bring them together? Postpartum depression is a sensitive issue and one I have experienced. This helped me better under the story and feel what was happening. The author did a great job in my opinion handling this topic. Past mistakes/sins were addressed and forgiveness extended. There was an element of suspense involving the ex that kept me glued to my kindle. A really good start to this series.

I could not put itdown‼️ Adam and September captured my heart right off the bat, and of course baby Heather❤️ The plot was interesting and kept trying to figure out all the little twists. I have known women who suffered from PPD and found this story realistic but with a view towards hope. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.

Adam used to be September's bodyguard, but left when he had feelings for her. Fast forward - September is now a new mother and suffering from postpartum depression. Will Adam protect her baby and September? This was a good start to the Hastings brothers. I'm looking forward to reading the other brothers stories.

New to me author, did NOT disappoint...

I sampled this book and found I couldn't leave until I read the entire thing!
Well drawn characters, A topical subject : PPD, handled not only gracefully but also in an informative manner, and a solid story line.
I don't think other readers will be disappointed, either.

LOVED IT!
First I have to say I am not a fan of contemporary romances. I prefer historical romance. This is my first contemporary one in a long time and I loved it. I cannot wait to read more in this series. I appreciate the hard topic the author tackled. It gave me more insight into PPD. I love the Christian aspect and the clean read. I fell in love with baby Harmony! This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author, but it certainly will not be my last. I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed the narrator. I hope the rest of the series features Louis B. Jack as the narrator. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! I liked how the author took a very bad experience but kept the focus on the positives and didn’t go too in-depth with the dark emotions or physically aggressive situations. I enjoy reading mild HEA sweet romance stories and this was great! I enjoyed the narrator. He did well distinguishing the different characters and brought the story to life.

** Audiobook Review** I was given a copy of this audio book for an honest review. This is my first book by the author & narrator. Absolutely LOVED this story. Louis B. Jack was a fantastic narrator for this story. Lorin Grace delivered a sweet love story! This book is expertly crafted with raw and real characters. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. Post partum depression affects so many women and isn’t often discussed in books. I loved that the author had the courage to write about PPD and share part of herself having battled PPD after the birth of each of her children.

Great story dealing with love and PPD

As someone who suffered from PPD and PPA, I really like the author’s approach to the illness. She touched on the issue September was dealing with without going into the deepest darkest depths of her despair. As a reader I understood enough of her plight and resolve to experience what she was going through.

The love story was almost secondary to me, but I didn’t feel cheated, it was sufficiently developed.

Adam and the Hastings are incredible and I must now go back and read the Abbie’s story too.

The narrator’s performance was entertaining and was easy to follow. I am always “surprised” by lone male narrations of love stories with a dual perspective, but was enjoyable. My only critique is how quickly he would transition from one point of view to the other. I wish he would have pause a little longer in between. Other than that it was a good listen.

This is something of a romance but has a lot more than a romance in it. It deals with postpartum depression as a main thread of the story and abuse as well. In this story September is abused by two different people to my way of thinking. The ex-boyfriend is maybe more obvious but the agent is also abusive in her controlling behavior.

I have never experienced PPD though I have depression issues so while I can't really say if PPD plays out like this book shows or not, some of the descriptions fit exactly how I have experienced depression so I felt like it was likely accurate.

I loved the Hastings family. They are good people. And Adam was great. He took to "fathering" very well. And it felt real that he would be a safe place for September. She trusts him and his family already. Maybe a little weird that she just left the baby without being face to face but in her state of mind maybe that was the only way she could deal with it.

Best line of the book is after Adam leads Sven on a wild goose chase just to keep him from September. Sven asks, "Having fun yet?"
Adam: "Depends on what you think of as fun. If you mean leading a bodyguard who is more brawn than brain halfway across the state for no reason other than my amusement, then I'm having fun. And you?"

My biggest problem with this book was the title. It almost kept me from reading the book but I'd read other things by this author so I went ahead with it. The title made the book sound like it was going to be sleazy. It wasn't at all. Maybe that is just my interpretation and no one else even thought of it.

Sex: Basis of the book is that lead had out of wedlock baby prior to chapter one but there is no sex in the book.
Language: some crass remarks from the jerk-guy.
Violence: Flashback to major assault/attempted murder. Bad guy is verbally and physically abusive. Was physically and emotionally abusive prior to chapter one. Violence against woman.

“Not the Bodyguard's Baby” by Lorin Grace
Yup, loved this audio book. A suspense filled story with a touch of romance… or is it a romance story with a touch of suspense. Well either way it is an easy read and a clean story, too. A story that I marathon read because I just couldn’t shut it down and go to sleep. A worthy read. Happy Reading ! !

(4.5 stars) - an original take on a 2nd chance romance

What a great story, while also being an excellent way to learn about Post Partum Depression!

Adam gets called to the office with some surprising news - he's a dad! Except it would have to be a miraculous pregnancy, cuz he knows he wasn't a participant, so the baby can't be his.

September - Adam's former client - has been going thru a lot by the time she has her baby. When PPD hits on top of all her other stress & she nearly does the unthinkable, she knows she desperately needs help, so she leaves her baby with the man she trusts more than any other, but she has to make sure CPS won't take the baby so she claims Adam's the dad.

The story tells us generally, but with some of the highlights, what happens once September is admitted to the hospital for treatment. Which was an excellent way to handle it, IMO. We don't need a textbook report - just enough to enable some basic awareness of symptoms & understanding of the condition. The author successfully provides an effective balance between the info & the story.

The story draws you in with a little added suspense from secondary characters who definitely don't have September's best interests at heart.

The wrap up includes a plot point that just makes you so moved by September's strength to do what's right & best rather than what's easiest. And the happily-ever-after is sweetly satisfying!

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses

Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book. The main characters were easy to like. Loved Mom and Dad Hastings too. There was more substance to the story than just romance, which is always nice. Adam and September seemed to resolve their past differences too easily, which in a way was a relief, just not as believable. Worth listening too, looking forward to more books in the series.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Adam Hastings had protected singer September Platt for five years. When he realized that his attraction, to her, compromised his ability to focus on her protection, he resigned from her security team. A year later, a baby has been left at Hasting’s Security with a note from September claiming that the baby is his. He knows that it is not possible, but she must have had a good reason to leave her daughter with him. September entered a hospital facility for the treatment of postpartum depression (PPD) and knew that Adam was the best one to care for and protect her daughter. When September is threatened by the paparazzi and her former bodyguard, Adam and his entire family close ranks to ensure the safety and well being of September and her daughter Harmony. A truly wonderful and heartwarming read that touches on the issues related to PPD without overly detailing the negative, but stressing treatment, hope, love and recovery. I can’t wait to read the second book in this series and I am so pleased to discover a new author! (by paytonpuppy)

I listened to an audio version of this book. I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I found it insightful and engaging. The fact that it is centred around such a sensitive subject as PPD had me concerned what it would entail. I found it to be engaging and insightful. Having listened to the Authors Note at the end, I discovered that this was a condition the author was personally familiar with. This enhanced my appreciation for how she handled the unfolding of the story. I’m glad she didn’t go too far into the dark realities of having PPD but focused on the journey of recovery instead. The story was clean in its overall content. There is reference to a sexual relationship outside of marriage and also to physical abuse, but this is referred to in retrospect or flashbacks. It was not confronting or disturbing to listen to. This is the first book of the Hastings series and I’ll be happy to continue on with the other stories in the series.

This book was not quite what I expected. Not that is a bad thing in anyway. It was a moving story of a young woman battles, not only in the music industry but with her managers over managing her life to her having a child and suffering the depression that can often follow.

All these topics were very carefully handled.

The narrator did a great job, the only part I found annoying was when he needed to read out her code sequence, that was really frustrating to listen to, I’m sure it would make sense when reading the book, but it lost it when it was being narrated.

I would definitely recommend listening to this clean romance.

I liked the book because it dealt with more than just a romance. There was suspense and the very important issues of post-partum depression and physical abuse. Adam and September were believable and likable characters. Having had friends suffer from PPD, I was very interested in September's story. Another thing that I liked about the book was that September realized how wrong that one-night stand was. In spite of the serious issues the books deals with, it was a book of hope and second-chances. There's a sweet HEA too! I'd recommend this to readers of clean romantic suspense and to readers of Christian fiction. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this book.
