There's nothing like going through the 9 levels of hell...

Ian Dex, the chief of the Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department (PPD) was knocking boots with his psychologist when the call came in. It seems there are some disgruntled ex-convicts who kidnapped a former parole officer and were planning to do nefarious things to her.

But Ian had the best crew in town and they weren't going to let something like that happen.

Unfortunately, things don't always turn out the way one might expect when working on the PPD. Supernaturals had a way of screwing things up.

In a flash, Ian and his crew find themselves trapped in the Netherworld area known as the Badlands. His wizard gets dragged away, three dragons are dead set on eating everyone, and Ian has to sacrifice himself to save them.

That lands him in a cave that leads to the nine levels of hell.

Ian deals with gigantic slugs, satyrs who want to violate his flower, manticores hungering for his flesh, voids bent on twisting his mind, demons seeking vengeance, valkyries who put him through a very odd form of battle, voids intent on twisting his mind, and a mysterious entity who could spell the end of him.

If he can survive this odd trek, connect back with his crew, and get to Blood Bane Tower, he may be able to stop the thin line of reality that separates the Netherworld from the Overworld from being destroyed.

Hell is kind of a mixed bag...

Disclaimer: I was a member of the reader team for this novel and asked to provide my feedback and review as part of that team.

The Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department is back. It's been a few months since the great events on The Strip and things are quiet. Oops. Spoke too soon.

Ian Dex, the chief of the LVPPD, as well as his team are on the case. This time, they're all pulled into the Netherworld and Ian is separated from everyone else and he's being chased by three snarky and annoying dragons. In human form.

Oh yeah, and he has to traverse the nine levels of hell in order to get back to the group.

So... Nothing out of the ordinary, really. Along the way Dex meets up with satyrs who want to have... relations... with him, fae who want to kill him, a really charming basilisk who also wants to kill him, a band of Valkyries who want something that only Ian can deliver (a lot). And other creatures who are standing in his way and want to keep him from his mission. By killing and/or eating him.

Then, after all of that (as if it wasn't enough), the team now has to stop another dragon in her tower (isn't that always the way) from opening a rift that will send an orc army into the Otherworld. It never seems to stop, does it?

This is the third novel of the Ian Dex series and will most definitely keep you reading and wanting more!!

Blood Bane Tower is the third installment in the Ian Dex Supernatural novel series by John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young. While trying to reach his team, Ian Dex must get through the nine levels of Hell while being chased by three young dragons who are determined to have him for lunch. Logsdon and Young’s version of the levels of Hell is like nothing Dante ever dreamed, populated with amazing creatures who have their own plans for Ian, and Ian has to come up with novel ways to beat the creatures of each level while staying ahead of the dragons. Blood Bane Tower is an adult-themed urban fantasy with plenty of humor mixed in. Blood Bane Tower is definitely worth reading, and makes you look forward to the next installment in the series.

Laugh out loud humour, action and great storyline

This fantastically funny urban fantasy series about Ian Dex and his team in the Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department started with The Merging then is even better in Grave Creatures and yet better again in Blood Bane Tower. The humour is there from the start and the team are all the better for being fun, sarcastic and neither perfect nor pc. There is a great mixture of laugh out loud humour, action and storyline in this addictive series which kept me wanting to read more even though I knew I had to get up early for work in the morning?! I am enjoying seeing this great series developing and absolutely cannot wait to read more!

Blood Bane Tower is another great read that had me gripped and chuckling from start to finish. In a departure from the norm, Chief Ian Dex is separated from his Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department team for most of this story, which highlights not only his individual strengths and weaknesses but also the bond and loyalty between himself and his team. That said, this is a humour filled, action packed and thoroughly entertaining book, which I recommend you read whether you are already a fan of Urban Fantasy or are just looking for a great book.

The third Ian Dex novel and they keep getting better! This has our hero Ian, Chief of the Las Vegas Paranormal Police Department, having to traverse the nine levels of the underworld, populated by some very naughty creatures, whilst being pursued by dragons, in order to save his team. As always there are some very funny moments and Ian is able to "rise" to the challenge again. And when he's got that all sorted, he then has to save the world from the dragons' mother.

In order to safe his people, Ian distracts a trio of dragons. Then he has to go through a Fae twisted version of Dante's Hell to get back to them so they can save the most innocent of their group from total annihilation. All in a day's work? The storyline is funny, and only someone as naughty as Ian could turn a huge trial into multiple booty calls lol. Mr. Logsdon does squeeze our hearts a little hard with the ending though.

These books get cheesier as I go along. I almost gave up on this one more than once because of how corny it is. I am so tired of hearing how good Ian Dex is in bed – and that becomes a major plot point in this book! He turns into a Marty Stu in this book. Dex has danced close to the line in previous books; in this one, he jumps headfirst into the “pool of too much.” Part of me wants to keep reading this series, but if they keep going they way they are, I’m not sure I can stomach it.

John and Chris have done it again. Blood Bane Tower grabbed me and wouldn't let me go. This installment of the Las Vegas PPD series takes place mostly in the Underworld, and more specifically, within the 9 circles of hell, which our authors put a new spin on. The Ian Dex series has a way of grabbing your interest and not letting go until it is finished.

After a rescue, Ian finds surprisingly he's not the center of attention. With a bit of dragon chicanery, the team ends up in the Badlands, where Ian IS the center of attention. Be careful what you wish for! This adventure has enough crazy, hilarious hijinks to make Dante proud...or weep shaking his head. Fun times!

This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better and better. Ian gives up a trip through the seven levels of hades, showing that Dante was a little off, but close. And also only Ian can hook up and get a promise of future hookups while he is there. This time it is dragons, and even they are shown in a new light.

Can't wait for the next one.

Awesome

I love reading this series it's guaranteed to put a smile on my face. If you want heavy reading then these books definitely are not for you, however, if you want fantasy creatures, lots of action and a bloody good laugh, all spun together with a lot of brightness then this is your lucky day.

What a Read

Without a doubt, this series is the most entertaining urban fantasy on the market. Not just superbly written but creative, suspenseful and most of all funny. A little on the crude side, but not gross.
Once the series is available in a packaged set, I plan to buy them all.

Don’t forget a change of clothes.

I like that the story goes a different way than I’d expected. I don’t want to give anything away, but think more odyssey than Iliad, with a few more dick jokes.

Should be another hit for the writing team of Logsdon and Young. Follow Paranormal Police chief Ian Dex as he battles his way through the nine levels of the underworld. It’s a good story with lots of laughs, well written and with loads of funny characters. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Great

Another book that leaves me coming back for more. Danger, excitement, and innuendos, what more could you ask for? Ian Dex certainly is a character that I could read about all day.

This one seemed rushed and didn't hold my attention, maybe because it was more Ian-centric while he was in the nine levels and I enjoy when he works with his team. The end was a surprise!

Why does Ian remind me of Bruce Campbell? lol

Good premise undercut by juvenile execution.

Good be interesting but it is written like a PG-13 sex comedy. Very immature. The main character is a boring narcissist. Would love to read his work with a grown up lead.
