Officers Piper Shaw and Reaper Payne are at it again. This time in San Fransisco.
Lucien Bane wants blood. After turning from a mild-mannered wolf into a near-uber who is bent on dominating the city, he's now taken up shop in Alcatraz. And he's not alone. He's convinced a number of wolves to follow him by claiming he's descended from a god.
Fun.
With the fate of San Fransisco in their hands, Piper and Payne must pull out all the stops. They'll dig deep as they fight through Fisherman's Wharf, deal with difficult hotel clerks, and even play dress-up to entice Bane's minions out of a seedy nightclub. But none of that can prepare them for the ferocity of what's to come.
When push comes to shove, will Piper finally admit she needs the one thing she hates to ask for? Namely... backup.

Bane's Edge (Netherworld Paranormal Police Department #2) by John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young
Our two agents are back and they are after a Werewolf pack. The leader of the pack thinks he is Thor, a god! Piper and Reaper are are on their own most of the book because there is a surge of evil loss and the Retrievers are all working hard or dead. They do get help from Brazen and Kix again. Reaper gets some great upgrades to his tattoos that make him a bit more powerful.
I love this series so far! Snarky but not annoying, witty and clever, fast action, lots of great characters and fantasy, funny dialogue, terrific situations, and loads of humor! Can't help but keep turning the pages! A total blast! A joy to read!
Piper and Payne started out slowly i the first book - an introverted reaper and a hard-headed loner with an attitude. This book gives a look into their developing partnership and the building tension of the storyline made ir quite a worthwhile read. On to the next!
I love this series. Yesterday I found a new author and I am happy as I have read both books in this series back to back. I love the clueless Reaper and the snarky Piper. Can't wait for book three and beyond.
Kindle Unlimited, won't bother with the insults to the writers this time, but that's because I've lost the link to what I wrote before.
Ambushed Retrievers. A haunted past. A damn wolf who thinks he's descended from Thor.
Officers Piper Shaw and Reaper Payne are at it again. This time in San Fransisco. When Lucien Bane turns from a mild-mannered wolf into a near-uber who is bent on dominating the city, Piper and Payne will have to risk it all to stop him. But Bane isn't one to give up easily, and he's convinced a number of wolves to follow him by claiming he's descended from a god...
The team has to fight through Fisherman's Wharf, deal with hotel clerks, hit on Bane's crew down at the local bar, and finally take the fight to Alcatraz. But when push comes to shove, Piper has to admit she needs the one thing she hates to need: backup.
Bane's Edge: A Piper & Payne Supernatural Novel is the exciting second book in the Netherworld Paranormal Police Department series, a set of urban fantasy novels. If you like mythical creatures, fast-paced comedy, and gritty officers, then you’ll love John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young’s action-packed adventure.
The Chief (Ian Dex Supernatural 0.5) The Merging (Ian Dex Supernatural #1) Grave Creatures (Ian Dex Supernatural #2) Blind Date (Ian Dex Supernatural #2.5) Blood Bane Tower (Ian Dex Supernatural #3) London Growl: An Ian Dex Supernatural Novel #4) Swarm of Fire: An Ian Dex Supernatural Novel #5) Ian Dex #6 - Curse of Fangs
Piper still has blanks in her past and it grinds at her soul. Finally getting used to her partner Reaper and his magical abilities that get upgraded frequently by "Pecker" theri goblin chief engineer. Now the town is being attacked by a wolf who thinks he the god Thor. Behind it all is a mysterious criminal mind, "keller." Not much info is in the files, but Piper knows that Reaper knows more than he is willing to say. Mayhem, murder and death of Retrievers are bring the department to a low point. Wolves are ripping and shredding led by Bane ...aka Thor and the two work frantically to try to stop the violence and attempt to take over the town. Finally paired up with their "newbies," Brazen and Kix, they head out to Alcatraz to try and take town Bane and his wolf army. As always, the author has brought us a book that is eagerly awaited and in 'can't put it down" condition. Highly recommended series that I wouldn't miss. Don't lose out on your chance to read this excellent book either. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Another fantastically funny paranormal police department series This is the 2nd book (1st being blood crossed) of the fantastically funny urban fantasy series about Piper and Payne from the Netherworld Paranormal Police Department which is linked to, but still works if you haven't read, the Ian Dex series which started with The Merging. The humour is there from the start and the Netherworld team are all the better for being fun, sarcastic and neither perfect nor pc. There is a great mixture of laugh out loud humour, action, storyline and getting to know Piper, Reap and others around them. This is another addictive series which keeps me wanting to read more even though I know I have to get up early for work in the morning?!
Piper and Reap are at it again, Bane is stirring things up with werewolves, whom it seems he is telling them he is the son of Thor and a god. And of course no one is going to go up against a god, now are they? Well, some people never learn.
We learn a little more about Piper, and Reap is starting to make you wonder if he knows more than he is saying. Kix and Brazen come along for the ride and things get interesting. Not to mention that Pecker is at his best, in all his ways.
Book 2 in this promising series does not disappoint. The fan goes fully fecal as a nefarious multi-pronged master plan is implemented at the expense of the Netherworld PPD. But Piper & Payne only can concentrate on quelling their slice of the calamitous trap. Hints about the past and future are dropped between little things like learning teamwork and mere survival. Good times all around!
Building on the first book in the series, a bigger threat then Piper has seen in her time as a retriever uses a coordinated attack to decimate the Retrievers. She and Reaper have to learn to be better partners to survive. And Piper is going to need her partner more than she can imagine. Terrific read, perfect follow up to the first book in the series.
Piper & Payne do it again! The second book in the new spin off series. These just keep better and better. I was on the edge of my seat willing them on one minute and sitting with tears running down my face from laughing the next. Can't wait to see where this goes next.
This is the second book in the Piper and Payne series. In this book, we get to know a little more about Piper and Payne's lives, which really ended up giving a lot more depth to the characters and their actions.
I love the world that these authors have created and can't wait for the next book!
Don’t google that. Anyway, it’s another Logsdon book, so you should know what to expect. Please read the first one in the series before you get here. It’s fun, it’s a bit deep and you won’t want it to end.
This is the 2nd Piper & Payne book and the series is just getting better and better. I'm addicted and am just biding my time until the next part of their story unfolds in it's own funny, adventurous and entertaining way. I highly recommend that you read this.
Engaging series which promises to develop into something quite addictive. These books are based on a premise which moves fast but contains humour and ingenuity. Look forward to the next instalment.
Piper and Payne are an unlikely partnership but it works well. They're a bit more serious than the rest of the PPD, less of the innuendos, really good story though. I like the sarcasm and banter.
Fascinating and addictive series. Enjoying the barbed humor. Inside joke there. Love the characters. I'm making some educated guesses about not yet revealed background info.
Ditto my review of the book before. Enjoyable stories, flatter / duller characters than the Ian Dex series, but not by much. It's just that those characters are SO good and these characters are just normal. Still, very enjoyable.
3 1/2 stars. Two hardworking Retrievers trying to do their jobs and hopefully bring the criminals back alive so they can get a full bounty (some people have bills to pay). It deserves 3 stars. Plus 1/2 a star for some really funny scenes and a talking turtle.
plots and machinations reveal themselves bringing unknown truths to light. piper and reap continue to chase shadows, knowing they have a role but unaware of their part. planning for the worst has never been such a good idea
Again, the overall plot and the characters are good. The characters are evolving, and that's super important for a series like this. A fun adventure and romp with humor and action!
It really was a fun time reading this book with people who are in a whole different time and place dealing with criminals who were just as dumb as, well here in our world.
I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The narrator really picked it up for this book. Developed the characters a bit more and a fun story
I enjoyed the story, but the narrator is too monotone. I think this series would be more enjoyable if the narrator would change voices and have some inflection
Piper and Reaper get to go retrieve Lucien Bane, the almost Uber Wolf has taken over SF, Alcatraz and is bent on world domination, if he can convince the other wolves. As usual fun and tactics will keep you going as the battle through San Fran’s scene to get the job done.
With Banes mysteries coming out and his mistaken beliefs in human interactions causing us a nice bit of humour this is great. Also loved how the relationship between Piper and Bane causes even more bonfing as both their pasts reveal a common goal. Looking forward to the 3rd and these stories seem to blend well into the popular ongoing series of Ian Dex paranormal police department adventures which if you like one then you like the other
Loved This Book! Is it wrong to be confused on who is the main character in a series? In the first book, it seemed to be Piper but with the character development of Reaper, he is quickly becoming my favorite. I love his stoicism and his naivety. I want to hold his turtle and i think turtles are carriers of germs but you just know Agnes is clean. The story was great. Every aspect is believable in a sci-fi sort of way.
