The world needs heroes...
But all it has is darkness.
People need to stand and fight...
Before it's too late.

Continue the epic story of mankind’s epic struggle against extinction in Book 2 of the “Hell on Earth Series”: LEGION.

What will you do when the world ends? A question that needs answering quickly when the gates to Hell open all over Earth. Taking place across the globe is an apocalypse like no other, and humanity finds itself at war against a smart and merciless foe. A foe that knows no bounds to suffering.

Vamps has never been anything more than a kid on the streets, but when those streets become a war zone, he and his childhood friends are forced to step up and become heroes—not an easy thing to do for a bunch of gangsters. It doesn’t help matters that a rival gang is also out for their blood.

Hernandez is a US Navy Lieutenant with a bright, neatly planned future. That is until the world ends and a chance encounter with a rogue Coast Guard Captain leaves his future in disarray. It will take a lot of hard work, planning, and manipulation to take back the reigns of his destiny, and punish those who have crossed him.

Richard Honeywell is a police office at a time when being a police officer is a death wish. The world is at war, but Richard still has a duty to protect the citizens of the United Kingdom. Yet, how can he do that when his own family is in danger?

The world must come together and fight back against the unstoppable Legions of Hell. The monsters are real and they will not stop. Welcome to Hell.

I devoured book 1 of this and couldn't wait to listen to this one as 2 ended on a cliffhanger of sorts. Well, this was just as good!!

While this is book 2, it also tells the stories of some of the minor characters from book 1 from when the rocks first appear and continues on the stories of the major characters of book 1. I absolutely loved that the author did this!! It was awesome to figure out Vamps' story and get to know his ragged group more. We meet Hernandez, whose life doesn't go according to his plans. We meet Richard, a police officer trying to do his job, all the while trying to keep his wife and son alive! We also get to see how Guy, Rick and a few of the other characters are doing.

As with the first, the author sure knows how to tell a tale!! His characters are amazing. Vamp and his buddies are thugs but step up when things go to hell. Hernandez is crazy and boy does the author write him well!! Richard was awesome. He is brave but is also just a man. He knows his job is to protect civilians, but he also just wants to grab his wife and son and run and hide. Each was so well written and developed'

Again, the plot was fast paced and addicting. The gates are spewing out beast after beast, whom are all but unstoppable and humanity is on the brink! What I love about this series is that not only is the plot dark and disturbing, but it tells the story of how humanity will strive to survive, no matter what.

In all, an amazing book and an even better series. I can NOT wait to see what the author brings to the table next!!! Bring on book 3 :)

Nigel Patterson again did an amazing job! He really is such an easy to listen to narrator and has a pleasant voice. He knew how to amp up the tension in this story and bring it to life. If you're knew to audios, he is a narrator to try.

*I received a free copy of this but voluntarily reviewed it. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.*

When is the next series arriving?

Mr. Wright has done it again. This was an excellent sequel to Legion 1. I love the fact that he now told the tale of some minor characters from the first book while still offering a cohesive story. I also really enjoyed the short stories at the end.... Especially the one about Damien Banks. I hope we will hear more about him and his friends, Harry, Lucas, and Steph.

Last note.... I am definitely going to check out Stuart Keane's books. I adored reading about why he became an writer and how reading is an experience that is hard to define to those that do not enjoy this pastime. The short stories that were included here were reminiscent of the type of tales that the great Richard Layman would tell. You have me sold, for sure.

Thanks Mr. Wright for entertaining me once again. You are awesome!

Was a bit slower to get going than the first instalment but once it did, it was brilliant. I love Wright's characters and the differences between them. It's good how he makes it so that not everyone has a happy ending and some of the deaths are so unfair (no spoilers) but that is what makes the book so memorable. It was an advert for Iain's ability to instil terror in his readers which first put me onto him and my word, the caretaker certainly did that! Sweep, sweep, sweep. I was glad not to be alone in the house that night. Looking forward to book 3.

Excellent follow up to The Gates...same volume of death and destruction at the hands of demons, zombies, and giants. There was a bit of confusion, as this story did some time hopping to scenes that happened in book 1 then zipped back to the present, but in a different POV. Weird. Anyhow, lots of fun here in the very darkest and demonic sense of the word fun.

Good. There’s a lot going on with multiple characters and plot arcs all over the world, but kept me interested. Don’t get too attached to any characters and be prepared for gore!

I had the opportunity and pleasure to be able to read "Legion: Hell on Earth Book 2", by Iain Rob Wright before its publication (May 20, 2016 by the way, get it) to the rest of the public, and I must say, I am once again left with my mouth open and saying what the hell just happened?. Which is a good thing by the bye. This is a sequel to "The Gates: An Apocalyptic Horror Novel", which by the way, is also a great read. I highly recommend both of these books and anything else written by this talented author.

Part Two of the Hell On Earth series and a great follow up to Part One, The Gates. I enjoyed that book so much I started Legion straight away after finishing it. This book gives us another look at how the gates of Hell opening on Earth went for some people not featured in the first book. We also get a bit more background story on a few we met briefly in the previous book. Things are getting worse for the human race as the death toll rises frantically without very little anyone can do to stop it. Iain Rob Wright always delivers for me and this book is no exception. It’s a fantastic apocalypse horror story jammed full of divergent characters from all over the world. If you've not read The Gates do so as this will make much more sense having done so. As I said when I reviewed Part One I don’t usually like a series that splits the story over several books but with this author I was willing to give it a go. I wasn’t disappointed and recommend this book and its wider series very highly, just be ready to read the next book too!

“Legion” picks up where Hell’s Gate left off. As more of the gates open and the entire world goes to hell, literally the accounts of the bravery and honor keep coming in. With a way now to close the gates, the real war is officially on. But evil and losses lurk at every corner and the Navy just experienced a catastrophe turn of events.

Legion, covers ground from other survivors point of view, as the world must come together as a single unit to fight the apocalypse back to hell.

Vamps and his crew begin to take on a new threat that is trying to take over his neighborhood, but when it’s an unexpected enemy the boys may not all make it out alive. Or probably know at all.

Legion is an action-packed story that will have you on the end of your seat, till the very end.

This is shaping up to be an exceptional horror series. By my last count, there are six books in the series, and I am anxious to find out if the author can continue at this high level for the whole series. ( sometimes authors will write more books than are necessary to tell the story and then the whole series suffers.)
This is not literary horror. It is not creepy, atmospheric horror. This is fast action, non-stop blood and guts. Not normally my cup of tea, but for me, the story outshines the gore.
Probably the most fun part for me about these books so far is that the author is not shy at all about killing off main characters in the blink of an eye. Right in the middle of a paragraph!
This is an exciting and fast read and I will definitely be reading book 3!

Wow, what can I say about this chapter in this amazing saga, well written and extremely fast paced, it just never stops, relentless in its story, and just makes me eat my own nerves, waiting for number 3. And makes sure to read it in the daylight, unless you want to be frightened. A #1, in my book, hey that's funny, I'm not a writer, but I just said I had a book. All kidding aside, you will not go wrong with Iains work. Some writers are like lighthouses and I'm lost in the dark of shitty writers, Iain is a lighthouse. Thanks again Iain, another sleepless night. That's my review and if you don't like it get a bigger boat. 6.5 stars out of 5.

Wow!

Firstly I'd like to thank Iain again for the free books.

Book 2 in the series is a significant improvement on the first, this had my fingers bleeding because I couldn't put it down.

Vamps is an incredibly written character and no there are several more I really like too!

Rick storyline is really gripping me and i can't wait to read more of it!

Richard really grew on me and I want to see how it all pans out for him.

Loved the fact it went back in time a bit to show some crossover storylines.

This book definitely gets 5* great improvement on the first and 100% has made me go any buy the rest.

**EDIT
2 mins after writing this I bought the whole 6 as a box set 👍

Book is really a 4.75.
Why cuz the book is a real page turner. i would admit i didn't like the early long chapters. but i understood why. After those few chapters, the story goes fast and its done. Which I like. Why didn't i give this book a 5/5 because of a character called Hernandez, didn't like reading his parts. And i skimmed some parts because they were the POV from book 1 but with the other side of their interactions. honestly didn't need to read that again. Overall another great book. Great character moments for Rick, Daniel, Richard and Vamp's crew. Great visual description on the deaths, yeah there are a few that you'll go whoa thats harsh way to die. Onto the next book.

Interesting follow up to Hell Gates. Initially we see the start of the story line covered in Hell Gates from the view points of some of the characters introduced in the first book going into more detail about the back story to mystery of the gates. Slowly the story starts to move forward and advance the time line. As with Hell Gates, this book grabs the reader by the throat from Page 1 and doesn't let go, with blood curdling scenes of gore and horror excellently depicted and merged with epic battle scenes to keep the pace of the novel up and the story moving along.
Fallen angel Daniel reveals the history of conflict as he struggles to stay alive in the weak body he has possessed. This gives the reader a chance to understand what is happening and why, it provides some answers but also leaves much to discovered and guessed at by the reader.
Looking forward to Book 3

Hell is coming to Earth! Gates have opened all over the Earth and the demons are pouring in. This is worse than the apocalypse talked about in the Bible. The demons are trying to eliminate humanity to weaken God.

A few stories from The Gates continue in Legion. I highly recommend listening to The Gates first! Some people you'd never expect rise up to take on the demons and help their fellow man.

Great narration by Nigel Patterson. I really enjoy his accent. He does a good American accent as well. He did a great job with each of the characters! Looking forward to book 3!

Enjoyed it despite going back to the beginning again using other characters that had been touched on by main characters in the first book, It's ties in well tbh and is quite clever. Just felt like of gone back to my collage days briefly where a tutor used to go over the same shit from the lesson before just using different words for most of the lesson (stopped going to it in the end FYI 😉)

Anyway stand alone it's a 5 but because I felt I was rereading the story again it's a 4 for me. I am looking forward to the last 3 books though. I'll start tonight on my nightshirt!

The book was very good. The story was detailed and well written. The characters were very relatable and in most cases likable. The world is ending and the gates of Hell have opened to disgorge all of the lost souls and demons. The people of earth must face their fears to close the gates before all is lost. Many will die and the military is faced with a war that will take time to learn how to fight. Knowledge grows as they fight to survive in this new normal. The stories of the survivor groups are interesting and you find yourself drawn in by the reactions of many of the characters.

Solid Follow Up

Book 2 (Legion) picks right up where book 1 (The Gates) left off. The battle for mankind is still going poorly, and the small group of main characters are barely hanging on.
In these two books the author focuses on the human struggles (mostly), which adds more and more questions about the demon side. Hopefully, some of these areas will be addressed in future books.
As with book 1, there’s plenty of action, and lots of blood. When fighting true evil, all sides fight dirty.
The series is still quite good, I will be reading book 3.

Oddly written

Keep in mind this is book 2 in the series. The first thing is that the writing isn't quite the same style as the first book until the jump ahead. But that's the second thing. In most cases this book goes backward in time to before the first book. Then it skips over the events of the first book and continues with the original storyline. While the continuation makes sense, the backward glance could have been done a different way. Overall though its not a bad book.

Deliciously scary!

Ok, just finished book one and two in this series. I was ready to write a review by the time I'd read only the first few pages. I have read Rob Wright's work before and should have known he'd deliver. Omg, the scares - I'm a big horror fan and little scares me, but this guy does! Characters are amazing but no one is completely safe. My new favourite author. I couldn't wait to review him. Must read more now!

In book two of this series, the author finally begins to bring the diverse characters together. There is still one overwhelming victory of the invaders over the earthlings after another, but we at last have reason to hope that humanity will find a way. It's not high-brow literature, and some of the action seems forced (there's a sex scene that comes out of left field), but this is a real page-turner--or swiper as the case may be.

Definitely did not enjoy this book. It started by going into the past of characters you were reading about in book one of the series. That should have happened in book one..... it was confusing starting book two with that. The story didn't flow like the first book and sort of jumped around with no continuity. I wasn't kept wanting, to reach the end, therefore I won't be buying book three to find out if mankind wins or not. Sorry Iain........ I usually love your stuff. :-(

The second book of the series and it continues the story as you would expect from I. R. W. another great book which leaves looking forward to the next part. It starts a little slow for an I. W. R book but soon picks up pace and has you hurtling through the protagonists struggles with them heart in mouth. I love the way he ropes the reader in with empathy for well written characters. Just awesome, highly recommend any of his books to be honest!

Very detailed

Very detailed, fast-paced, action story.
When you have to take back your city from other worldly beings, you have to work together. Put the past behind you and man up. Most people in Vamp's neighborhood don't have much, but what they do have, they work very hard to get, and no outsider is going to stop vamps from taking back and protecting his neighborhood. Vamps is one of three perspectives you learn during the story.

I would refer to this as book 1.5 rather than book 2 of the series. Focusing on some of the characters mentioned in book one and expanding on characters from the first, this book I found much easier to read and far more exciting than the first.

I'm excited for the third book especially with the new world order starting to become clearer and new characters to focus on.

Hell on earth!

The story continues! As much as I'd like to stay and chat, book 3 is waiting... who will survive? Can good really overcome evil? Well, I'm off to find out.
Loving these books, they really make you think... I absolutely implore you to have a gander. Anyway TTFN 😊 ENJOY 😈

I enjoyed it, maybe a little less than the first one at the beginning. I had really grown to love all the storylines in the first novel, so it was hard for me initially to experience new characters.

Vamps is by far my favorite character in the series. He is so earnest & loves his home. He's tough, yet sensitive.

Had potential

Book 2 had repetitive parts but told from another character POV. The intro and the repetition stop me from going to book 3. Who starts series in the middle? Why do authors write series as if readers pick up in the middle? I don't need to be introduced to characters I "met" in book 1. I don't want to re-read pages repeated from book 1.
