Publisher's summary

A mirror's gleaming reflection bears untold secrets of a dark and haunting past....

Stefan Korzh is at it again, and while Ivan's deadly ghost has thrown a wrench into his son's plans, the spiteful road to revenge continues. More haunted items from the family's notorious collection are appearing with new owners. Worst of all is a pen possessing an inviting glimmer that can destroy whoever spills its demonic ink.

Jeremy Rhinehart and Victor Daniels are in a desperate rush to stop the mayhem, and seem to be headed in the right direction...but somehow, the closer they get, the harder things become. And they are slowly finding that they're not the only ones who want Stefan dead.

As the histories of the possessed collectibles continue to reveal themselves, more objects emerge, and old family secrets are contained within the elegant ridges of the compact mirror. Everything hangs in the balance, and it's up to Victor to discard his tragic demons and stop Stefan before the streets are lined with more bodies.

But as Victor and Jeremy continue their quest against evil, they discover a terrifying force lurking in their midst. Nothing is ever as it seems....

The story gets better and better!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the best book in the series so far! I feel like I say that every time a new installment comes out but it's the truth! Ripley has a true knack for expanding out his universe and adding many characters without the reader becoming overwhelmed. His strong characterization allows you to quickly become acquainted with new characters and remember old characters the reader has not encountered in a while. I also don't know how he does it but it is impossible not to genuinely care about ALL of the characters...regardless of how sadistic some may prove to be.

The story was fleshed out significantly in this installment and there were some twist and turns that i was not expecting so I am excited to see what comes next for our friends and foes.

Keeps getting better!

More possessed items are finding their way into peoples hands and Victor and Jeremy are struggling to keep up with them. This time sees a possessed pen being unleashed with anyone who decides to write with it writing their confessions and then ending their own life.

Meanwhile Stefan Korzh is fighting his own battles. All he wants is to unleash as many ghosts as possible but, it's not only Jeremy and Victor who are trying to stop him, his own fathers ghost is doing all it can to kill him too. Stefan is becoming increasingly unhinged and it gets worse when a new player enters the game with some surprising secrets.

Here we are at book 3 and this author still manages to surprise me! He can still throw a few twists and turns into the story to keep it fresh and original. The plot of this one was extremely fast paced and intense. Things are hotting up and despite Victor and Jeremy seemingly closing in, things are getting harder and harder for the duo. Secrets are revealed in this one that surprised even me!!

The characters in this never get a break!! Not even the bad guys. Victor and Jeremy have had such a hard time and it is only going to get harder. My heart even went out to Stefan, (but only for a second ;)), because he is really struggling. One thing I love about this author is that he treats all his characters the same, both the good and bad face a tremendous amount of things happening to them. Nothing ever comes easy!!

In all, this series just gets better and better. I flew through this edition and cant not wait to see what happens next!! It's such a great series and I urge everyone to try it.

Thom Bowers did a great job as always. He has a great voice for a story like this and can bring the atmosphere to life.

I was given this free audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Surprising Ending

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it's exciting and ghostly!

What about Thom Bowers’s performance did you like?

As always, Bowers pulls me into the story. He's a very good reader.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep. I was sick and all alone so I turned it on to relax and take my mind off of my ills. The only reason I couldn't finish it in one sitting is because I had to leave to get my son from school, but I hated to leave it so I took my Kindle with me and listened to it in the car as well.

Any additional comments?

That ending was a shocker though I suppose I shouldn't have been so surprised. I have theories on some of the details given in the first book. I can't wait to find out if I'm right or not!

Great Terror

I absolutely love Ron’s books as he always has good characters and is real creepy with many ghosts and a goblin (Jonluke) in this book. Stephan continues to sell his haunted antiques causing havoc and more deaths and his father (Ivan, a ghost) wants him dead and has his sister Ariana try to help him. Victor and Jeremy continue to track down Stephan as Victor wants to torture him since he killed his wife. There is brief appearance of Shane and a mention of Father Frank (both from the Berkley Series) as well as Tom from 2nd book. Upset about Jeremy and thought this was a trilogy but ending seemed like another book is coming (I hope so).Highly recommend the series if you enjoy a creepy, scary thriller and ghosts. I was given this audiobook by Scare Street and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!!

Another One You Can't Step Away From

Impressed again, another new character adds another twist to the continuing saga (this story line has endless possibilities!) I like the crossover of characters between all of these books. Once you start it is hard to stop or get them out of your mind.

Extremely Enjoyable Horror!

Ron Ripley has joined King, Straub, and McCammon on my list of favorite authors. His characters and settings are deeply developed and believable, making his stories truly horrifying. The continuity in the series and crossover from others (Berkley Street) keeps me totally submersed in the story. Thom Bowers does an excellent job of bringing settings and characters to life and is a talented Storyteller. I did not want this story to end, and can't wait for the next one!
