Publisher's summary

Too much terror to contain....

Shadows reach out with darkened claws. The floorboards creek as your greatest fears stalk the halls. And no matter how much you tell yourself it is just a dream, you know the truth. Evil hides in the darkness. And now, it has finally been unleashed....

Scare Street gathers volumes one to three of Terror in the Shadows in a single edition. Over 30 tales stalk this macabre collection. And just when you think you’ve experienced the most chilling horror of all, a new story unfolds within this massive tome of fear.

A shiver runs down your spine. You break out in a cold sweat, as the wind whispers outside. You know you should shut the window and lock the doors. But you’re frozen by fear.

You’re trapped within a nightmare, as a new tale begins...and there’s no escape in sight.

Chilling

Bloodcurdling scream, do not plan to sleep after listening to these scarey stories. If you have the guts to read or listen to these in the dark of NIGHT, ALONE, CAMPING!!!
These are some of the best, I recommend them.

Creepy

The stories are very good. Creepy stuff and violence in a way that came together well. I do agree that some reviews complain that a few of the stories don't end but overall it was good.

Great Read, Even Better Listen

I own all the books in this series in both Kindle and Now Audible formats. While I Love being able to read the books, being able to listen to them while driving my car too is even better. There's nothing better than a short trip to the store and being able to listen to something just perfect enough for short trips. Highly Recommended.

You Can't Go Wrong With Scare Street

I just love this group of authors and the bizarre nature of their story lines. You may not even know you have had these nightmares until you hear the story and begin to recall a similar one that you selectively forgot....until now.

Meh.....not bad, not good

This sounded very promising and short stories are my preference. But there isn’t a single one that I remember. Not a positive after-read.

Thumbs up

I really enjoyed listening to this. Thom Bowers is a great narrator! In my opinion short stories are fantastic, especially to listen to, because you get to experience many different stories and characters in a short period. I loved that there were so many different authors, since their writing styles are different it was great to see how the plots unraveled. Though I did not love every single story, I wished that a lot of them could have gone on longer. Many twists I did not see coming! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some short horror stories. I look forward to the next release!

Overall not very good

The stories range from somewhat disappointing to pretty good, for horror fiction. Lots of hackneyed plots, cliche metaphors, and cheesy alliteration--typical junk writing that you read when you just want something easy and simple. What made it tough to get through was the reader--a guy who has a perfect announcer voice but is a terrible actor at times.

Every character's voice sounds like a child with laryngitis. Adult men's voices at least sound human, but many are married by some poor imitation of a regional accent. Most of the women and teenage male characters sound like a child with a mental impairment. And children all sound demonic, whether or not the character is evil or innocent. On the plus side, virtually all of his ghost and demon voices are great.

To be fair, he is a good narrator and speaks clearly and correctly, although too slowly. (I usually have to reduce playback speed 10-20% because people talk too fast these days, but for this guy I had to increase the speed 20% to keep from falling asleep within 10 minutes. The bottom line is that he's probably a very good professional announcer, but a pretty bad voice actor.
