Publisher's summary

I survived my first semester at the Academy of Unpredictable Magic. Apparently, the universe took that as a challenge....

For years, Unpredictables have been brushed aside by the rest of the magical community. Now, people are starting to pay attention - and I’m not entirely sure that’s a good thing.

I’ve always been content to fly under the radar, but now that we’ve been invited to participate in the inter-academy trials, the entire school will be in the spotlight.

As if trying to sort out my feelings for the four insanely gorgeous men who all want to date me wasn’t enough, now I’m juggling magical games, deadly plots, unexpected allies, and notoriety I never asked for.

All right, second semester. Do your worst.

Trials is the second book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for ages 18 and up, featuring a badass chick and the four sexy men who fall in love with her.

Great sequel to Spark!

I am really enjoying this series, not a lot of bad things to say at all. It kept my attention, it was fun, had tons of action, sexy time, and tension. I think in terms of story I would put it at a 4.5 stars, just because I liked book 1 more and that was a 5 stars for me. I think the MC needed to bring down her walls a bit and not be so stubborn, that was my only gripe. Like I wanted to shake her sometimes with these trials or her thoughts leading up to it. It was part of the story and made her accomplishments that much more impressive, just a personal preference I think. I loved the different trials (except the ring thing haha), especially the escape room haha. Reminded me of some awesome times with my buddies. I loved some of the things that happened between Elliott and her guys. You can see things really starting to develop. The powers aspect of this series is really fun too!!

Narration was totally on point again! Sarah just keeps getting better and better with each audiobook in this series (and ones I listen to in general). She really brings these characters to life. I like that I forget she does the male voices, which only a couple female narrators can do for me. Phenomenal job yet again! Definitely recommend. On to book 3 ❤️

2nd Semester

For years the bigotry and racism towards pers with unpredictable magic has been socially acceptable in the magical community. When Elliot has been selected to participate to represent the Academy in the inter-academy games she cringes at the spotlight and focus thrust upon her.

As if struggling survive the mean girl attacks, and understanding dead students aren't enough Elliot is is used to hiding her emotions and is forced to sort out her feelings for the 4 gorgeous men who all want to date her.

Book 2 is definitely better than book 1 IMO - the characters are better developed and there is more substance to the plot -

Great Series

I truly love Elliot and how vulnerable she is even though she tries her hardest not to be. This was a fun one with an inter school challenge and lots of stress for Elliot. Elliot begins to form a stronger relationship with the men in her life. Can’t wait to see what is in store for her and all the unpredictables. Audio by Sarah was amazing as always

Fantastic as the first

I love how they are making her out to be the most powerful unpredictable mage there is. I am glad the guys are all connecting with her I think that is the trick to helping her embrace her powers. I can not wait for the next book!!!! # AudioBookObsession

I Will Keep Coming Back

Once again Ms. Moss and Ms. Puckett provide an excellent experience for the reader. This book is even better than the first as we learn more about the characters and the world in which they live. Through a magical competition, we learn more about both the magic that is available and the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. I also love that the tension between the characters is starting to make itself known to the other characters, thus adding more tension.

This is my first RH novel so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. The possibility of so many relationships at once is foreign to me. Ms. Moss’ writing keeps me engaged and interested to learn more for these characters. I can’t wait to read more!

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Interesting continuation

There is a competition between the different schools and for the first time ever Elliot's school is invited to attend and is actually hosting the competition. The story starts out with a contest to see who will compete for their school and Elliot somehow wins it. Now she has to learn how to call her magic without just her emotion guiding her but there are people are there to sabotage her. And she still isn't sure where she stand with all of her guys or if she can even handle these relationships. I liked getting to see her connections deepen with the guys and some characters show they aren't as terrible as they seem. There is more to the conspiracies going on and Elliot is going to have to try her best to stay alive and maybe win the entire competition but she has the support of her guys and a few others. I can't wait for the next book since I need to know what is going to happen next. There are times when Elliot is a little too poor pity me but her guy's don't let her wallow in that for too long which was good.

Sarah Puckett brings Elliott off the pages

Unpredictables are the black sheep of the magical community. They're not trusted, discriminated against, a family's disgrace. Even at the Academy of Unpredictable Magic, it's not a respected magic pillar and many are there to make connections or marriages. But for the first time ever Unpredictables are going to participate in and host the Inter-academy Trials, a competition between representatives of all magic users. Elliott wins the inner-school competition and will represent the Unpredictables. Now all she needs to do is figure out how to use her magic, face off against much more experienced magic-users in intense competitions, and stay alive.

This is an amusing series. Sadie Moss entertains. However, this book was not all I had hoped. I love Academy series. I love competitions. I love magic. I did not love Elliott. What happened to my fierce girl? Elliott raised her sister, took down a madman, got the attention of four great guys, not she is a bundle of self-doubt. Her lack of confidence was irritating, her ridiculous attitude even more so. She chose to argue with the guys at unnecessarily, she wouldn't take reasonable advice, she would contradict her words with her actions and showed a general sense of immaturity and cowardness throughout. This is not the same Elliott that lived without magic. This is teenage, angsty Elliott that never existed before. I want sassy, bad*** Elliott back. Hopefully, her maturity returns and doubt and second-guessing end in the next book. Other than Elliott's character, this book met my expectations. The competition was fun, the lead-up too. The guys are fantastic, especially Roman. I am a little taken aback by the idea of these guys sharing now that we know more about what is expected of advantageous marriages in the magical world. I need to see why they would go against their family and the community to choose Elliott. It's hard enough being an Unpredictable; if they further disappoint their families there needs to be a good reason. Elliott needs to prove that she is special and the connections are real. Right now she keeps them at a distance except for sex. There are no admitted feelings. The overall premise and prejudice are on point and the ending was enough to keep me coming back for more.

Sarah Puckett manages to voice the self-doubt and immaturity if Elliott to perfection. I may not have enjoyed Elliott in this book but Sarah brought her off the pages and made her real. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Really Good

Again this was an amazing audible. I truly enjoy listening to this reader as she puts so much behind her voice for the different characters and really makes you fall into the story. The story itself was awesome and kept you interested the whole way through with plenty of action. Loved it.

Action and romance

Enjoyed the story progression, along with seeing the tension and romance grow between the characters. Would have liked it to be a bit longer, but it was a fun listen. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
