Publisher's summary

Even angels have their demons.

Jordan Reiss is well aware that if she was on fire, the entire town of Oak Creek would probably go inside and make a sandwich. She can’t blame them. Her father scammed half the town out of their retirement funds, and then she...

She did so much worse.

She doesn’t expect forgiveness. But she’s back in town with no other options and just wants to be left alone to live on the fierce Wyoming land she’s missed so much during her six years in prison.

Former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood's call-sign may have been Angel, but he'll be anything but to protect his sister. Especially from a pretty ex-con who has somehow weaseled her way into a job at his sister’s new bakery.

He doesn't trust Jordan, even with her big gray eyes and quiet smile.

But when someone decides it's time for Jordan to leave Oak Creek - preferably in a body bag - Gabe will have to put his distrust aside. Jordan needs her own guardian angel. And he happens to be one.

Heartwarming

4.5 stars

I’ve been looking forward to Jordan’s story, and I totally enjoyed listening to it on audio. Loved Gabriel and Jordan and their relationship. The narrator does a great job with the male voice, but the female voice is somewhat weak. A suspense-filled, heartwarming read.

People can be just awful. Thank god for angels

Being blamed for her fathers sins is bad enough without people turning it very ugly. Somehow Gabriel, her angel breaks through the crack in her heart and shows Jordan that she is worth fighting for.

Love conquers all and has no boundaries.

This is one of my favorite books so far. I listened to the audible book first then I read this book on my Kindle. I truly believe everyone deserves a second chance and that’s exactly what Jordan and Gabe’s story is all about. I felt sorrow, happy, a little hot and bothered, anger, and many more emotions/feelings in this book. This book has action, romance, suspense, and the ex-military team we have grown to love with this series. My heart felt so bad for the cards that life had dealt Jordan. I am so glad that Violet befriends Jordan and gives her a job to help her get on her feet. I am so glad that the women of the Linear Tactical team never let her past affect their friendship and were there for her when she needed it. That is exactly what true friendships are all about- to love them no matter what. The love Gabe has for Jordan is so special and the way he wants to show Jordan her worth is heart warming. I loved the LA beach scene/date and it made my heart happy that he wanted to give her that experience and went over and beyond to make it happen. Just goes to show that there are wonderful men in the world that will do whatever they can to make the woman they love feel special, loved, and worthy of whatever they want or dream of. I absolutely loved how Oak Creek came together to help out with Jordan’s house. What a wonderful way for them to tell them they are sorry for the way they treated her and to show her that she is one of their own. I loved the exclusive extended scenes in the book especially the hot and steamy ones. The tampon scene between Gabe and Aiden was funny and I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to see that in person. The extended scenes also were helpful in learning how Jordan got into the accident with Becky and Micah McKay, which I always wondered about from book one, Cyclone. Can’t wait to read the other books in the series and hopefully read more about Gabe and Jordan. I wonder though, will Gabe’s friend, Ian, make it into a book or have one as his own since he’s going to buy CT?

Gabe and Jordan

Wow I really liked this one. I have listened to the first 2 books of the series prior to this one and I was really glad to get more depth of Jordan and what her life has been about and her struggles. This did not disappoint and I was so happy with how things ended up for her and Gabe!. Tom Campbell continues to do an amazing job.

My favorite of the series so far

Audiobook review:

Another story that I had read previously and I was anxiously waiting for the audiobook. Angel happens to be my favorite of the series (I've read all 8 so far) so when the audio was released I jumped right in and finished in one sitting. The story was as good as I remembered, but the narrator was so-so. Tom Campbell did a good job with Gabriel and the male voices but I had a tough time with Jordan's voice.

Jordan’s story is one I have been waiting for since she was first mentioned in Cyclone. We get more snippets of her in Eagle and Shamrock, so to finally get her story I was ecstatic!

Jordan has endured a lot in her 24 years; her mother passes away when she was a child, her father cheated and stole money from many people and businesses in town and after a horrible tragedy she was sentenced to prison for 6 years, all before she was even 18 years of age. She has been out for the past 3 months and life has not been any easier for her. Because of what her father had done, she is seen as a pariah in the eyes of many of the townsfolk of Oak Creek and they don’t hide their disdain for her, but she refuses to move away. Even with the difficulties she is facing, she is home and she has a plan in motion that she is adamant about achieving.

Then we have Gabriel, former Navy Seal, and older brother of Violet, Jordan’s new boss. And as the overprotective older brother, Gabriel has some reservations of Jordan working for his sister and he lets her know it. But something about Jordan pulls at him and he can’t seem to stay away. As he gets to know her, he sees the strength and fortitude it took to carry on with everything she had faced and his feelings for her continued to grow. So when he personally sees all the bullying and hateful actions towards her, he is so angry on her behalf, he decides to take on the role of Jordan’s guardian angel and be the one to care for her and stand by her side.

I shed many tears reading Jordan’s story. My heart broke for everything she had endured and reading how genuinely surprised she was by even the smallest gesture of kindness. And then to witness the gut wrenching scenes where trust becomes an issue for Gabriel, it was almost too much. But when the truth is revealed, he pulls out all the stops to be forgiven and do whatever that needs to be done to keep her safe from the danger that surrounds her.
