Charming Chester Falls Second Chance Romance

Bodyguard James reconnects with childhood best friend and first crush/kiss Connor years after moving away from Chester Falls. Their second chance romance has a slow-burn feel to it as they get to know each other as adults, confront past hurts and unrequited feelings, and Connor questions and explores his bisexuality for the first time.

There's an added layer of emotion and mystery as Connor's life is in danger, which heightens the overall low-angst and James's feelings of protectiveness. I'd also be remiss not to mention Connor's mischievous pet turtle Bubbles, which is a hoot.

I'd suggest first reading/listening to Book 1, where James is introduced as Prince Kristof's security detail and Connor as Charlie's brother, for some background on secondary character connections.

Narrator Nick Hudson has done done a wonderful job of creating unique voices for the many characters in Chester Falls throughout this series, and gives another solid and enjoyable performance here.

Angsty and sweet

A not-quite-typical bodyguard story -- because Connor isn't a celebrity -- with a not-exactly-predictable situation between the two MCs makes this story interesting to me. Connor Williams and James Bennett (formerly Lexington) used to be best friends...until James disappears after an ill-advised action threatens their friendship. Now, as bodyguard to Prince Kristof, he finds himself seconded to safeguard Connor's life -- Connor is Prince Kristof's soon-to-be-in-law -- when threats against him escalate. How they get past the hurt of the years separating them, to Connor's discovery of the side of himself he had been hiding from, to the discovery of the person responsible for the increasingly violent attacks against Connor and all that happens as a result, all make this an angsty-yet-sweet-with-heat story that I couldn't put down till it was done. James's and Connor's height was among the remarkable aspects of this story, which also included the revelation of James's other identity and the explanation for his disappearance from Connor's life all those years ago. And once again, the narration was fine, though the English accents weren't as on point as the Russian one.

Connor and James's story revealed!

I have been dying to find out what the real story between Connor and James since their standoff at the end of the previous book; it was clear that there was a story behind it, and what a story!
It's both a second chance, and a friends to lovers, and it's bi-awakening.... it's so many things, but in the end it's just James and Connor, Connor and James, and it's all that matters.
A wonderful book, this series is just so sweet that every book just leaves me with a bigger smile on my face!
Nick Hudson, as Ana puts it, is just marvelous!

How to Catch a Bodyguard - very cute

Keeping with the other books in this series, this book is cute, low relationship angst listen. I liked them together and how the story played out. There are some potentially not so realistic things, but that's what this type of book calls for, and you know going in. Nick Hudson was fabulous yet again.

So. Much. Love.

I love this series, and really, this is such a fantastic story! Friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance and a bit of danger, c'mon! who could even try to resist it?

Ana Ashley's books have that perfect mix that makes an awesome romance novel: perfectly constructed characters that feel real and unique, a believable storyline and feelings that never seem forced or coming of nowhere.

We have already met Connor and James in the first book of the series, so we knew there was some story between them. But if you are new to this series, you can follow the story perfectly without that bit of story and enjoy it as much as I did :D

Nick Hudson does an excellent job with the narration :)

Friendship, love, suspense and action.. very nice!

Second chance at friendship and more with a dose of action and suspense to make the plot wonderful.   I enjoyed the narration of this story and found myself not wanting to pause the story, I wanted to keep listening.  The story-line is solid, the suspense keeps me guessing as to who the person is that seems to be stalking Connor. I loved the ice-cream and pizza stories and just thought the book ended on such a wonderful romantic experience.  Love that James had learned to like more than vanilla ice-cream.

I was immediately caught up in the story as these guys get to tell their story with dual points of view so you can really tune into what they are seeing and wanting.  I loved how together they really are stronger and better.... more creative and just kinda bring out the best in each other.

Connor and James are sweet, steamy, meant to be together with a whole lot of years to unravel and find their way to living in the present. They find so many feelings from being best friends are there and the amazing sizzle of attraction all leads them to finding real love. This was a good story for my heart today!

This is book three of the Chester Falls series and can be read as a stand-alone.  You will see previous MC's have roles here since it is a close knit group of friends and family. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Love this series!

How to Catch a Bodyguard is book 3 in the Chester Falls series. This story is about Connor and James whom we first met in How to Catch a Prince. I love their story of a second chance. These friends to lovers go through a lot to understand their feelings for each other. And have to deal with a crazy young man in the process. They definitely earned their happy ending. And Bubbles, you gotta love Bubbles. This is an enjoyable book and series and I recommend it.
Narrator Nick Hudson does a marvelous job.

So sweet

Since meeting James in the first book, I have been waiting for his book impatiently. Now don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the first two books but there was just something about James. So, Conner is Charlies brother and we meet him in book two. What we didn't know is that James & Conner were best friends when they were kids. James had a crush on Conner and kissed him and Conner ran away. Coincidentally, James' mother uproots & moves them away and they haven’t seen each other for years. When some really bad things start to happen towards Conner, James is commandeered to be his bodyguard. Conner has never been with a man before and I would have liked to see him fumble a little more with it. But overall, they were a cute couple. Conner’s life is being torn apart. His home has been broken into, and attempts on his life, they figure out what they really want, and that is each other. I also glad that there is some closure with his step-siblings.

Beautiful Second Chance

A wonderful story of a second chance at love. James and Connor were best friends in school but haven’t seen one another in years. Now someone is after Connor and James will do anything to keep him safe. I love watching these two wade through their feelings and see them not only rebuild their friendship but become so much more. A beautiful story portrayed by a great narrator who does a great job with the story and the characters. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
