And if that wasn’t bad enough, two murders took place that Odelia, in her highly pregnant state, and in spite of everyone’s protestations, felt compelled to investigate.
 
The owner of an escort service had been found murdered, and so had one of her escorts. It soon became clear that they’d been engaged in a unique service that offered wives and fiancées the possibility to have their husbands and fiancés put to the ultimate fidelity test. And since their service had been very successful, there were suspects galore: was it one of those same fiancés or husbands, trying to stop their fling from coming to light, or was it a cheated partner looking for revenge? Suffice it to say, we had our work cut out for us.

It was supposed to be a quiet time, a time of happiness and familial bliss. Odelia was on maternity leave, and so a pleasant vacation was to be had by all. Unfortunately the fates decided differently. First a Prime Minister drifted in, expelled from England, where he’d run into a spot of bother, and soon our home was no longer that beacon of tranquility and quiet joy.
 
In his wake, more visitors popped over, turning the house into a glorified Airbnb and Odelia into a reluctant hostess. And then when Gran decided to start a wellness resort in her backyard, we finally decided enough was enough and were on the verge of migrating to more welcoming shores. But of course we didn’t. Instead, we stuck it out, deciding that our humans needed us now more than ever.

Chase had been invited to speak at a police conference in Paris, and Odelia decided to join him. Much to our surprise, she also brought Dooley and myself along on their trip. Not that I’m all that interested in big towers made by men named Eiffel or presidential palaces or even shopping trips along the Champs-Élysées. But it’s always nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of a small town to find oneself in the hustle and bustle of a big city, wouldn’t you agree?
 
At any rate, Odelia had earned a fun getaway, and so, I guess, had we. But then of course on the first night we were out there a murder was committed and soon we were up to our whiskers in an investigation, when the hotel manager asked Odelia to use her very particular set of skills to find out who was responsible for this heinous crime. By then the French police had already dragged their chosen suspect away in handcuffs, and it was up to us to prove her innocence.
